Sadly the Met declined to prosecute this one, and I'm unsure why, as I was given two different reasons, neither of which were correct or logical. Having passed the video by an experienced traffic officer who recently retired, his opinion is that the Met dropped the ball here. Ah well. As a woman I really _hate_ when women use the "I'm a woman!" phrase as some kind of argument. So? Why should anyone care about that. The laws are the same. This woman is so used to getting her way by being argumentative, and getting others to be on her side, like that American. Why is it so hard for her to just admit her mistake, back up the car, and get into the queue and go on with her life. So disappointed that she wasn´t prosecuted.

In fairness there's zilch wrong with being American. I more meant that he didn't seem to know the UK highway code and was too entrenched in the American idea that jaywalking is bad, but it's actually a crime invented by car manufacturers to move the blame for collisions from drivers onto pedestrians. It has a fascinating history.

The "you're an American" comment is obviously in reference to someone trying to say what's illegal in a country they don't know the laws of, which is annoying as hell when people do it whether American or from somewhere else. Prior to that, she was in car shouting at him to move out of the way. But still played the woman card claiming he had been threatening her!! When totally it was the other way round. Car vs ped... She may also have faked that she could not reverse if you ask me. Look how easy it was for her. How fast it was all over when she finally put it in that reverse gear. She did not even need the "help" she claimed was necessary. Not sure I believe her explanation that she could not reverse. Did she pass her test? The kind of person who plays dumb to get their way? Seems to make sense. I would not believe much she says.

So today we’ve learned that you need to kick up a big old fuss, entice several other motorists into committing offences and make loads of unsubstantiated claims of threatening behaviour and victimisation and you’ll get off. Acknowledge your offence and reverse within a minute or two and you receive punishment. Great job 5-0.

She knew from the start she was doing wrong, I'm sure of that much. She said she believed no one would let her in. But seemed like an excuse not to back up. She seems a good actor to get her way, in my view. The "I do not know how to reverse" revealed she was making it all up. Playing the innocent victim to get her way was a big theme. It clearly worked on the police or whoever looked at this. I wonder if it was a woman who decided not to prosecute?

And on another note, well done Mike, I was knocked off my bike by a small lorry on a straight stretch of the road where he literally swept me into a wall. Helmet smashed and I’m still recovering from the physical trauma my body went through. Not been on a bike since and this was back in 2018.

By walking away from her car she left the vehicle obstructing the normal flow of traffic which surely itself is an offence. Also I would have said that her attitude was both intimidating and threatening at times. Did she actually have a driving license? Can't understand why she was not prosecuted.

It's a mess because it is a system that doesn't work (hence why not one single country has copied it), and because underperforming and/or unsuitable staff are kept on and not sacked. In my trust alone I'd guess over 75% of the senior non-clinical staff are incompetent and would be incapable of holding down a similar job in the private sector. I have nothing but praise for our clinical staff, especially our HCA's and nurses.
