I will always remember this night. I had the unbelievable luck in working with Cyndi and sharing some of her insights in this performance. When she dances in the middle of the song she says she was "spirit" dancing to find the center of the song. I will never forget her singing the song back to me in the limo on the way to the after party at the China club. Thank you for a night that I will always cherish Cyn.

I remember seeing this on TV and how stunned I was that cyndi lauper could take theis joni michell classic make it her own and make it give me goosebumps at the quality of the performance. just stunning

How stunning is that. It's not only delightful to re-discover Joni Mitchell's genius through (lyrics here in particular) but, to be so lucky to have another strong & artistic woman interpret the song in her own passion like Cyndi does, is incredible. What a treasure this interpretation is, her voice is most beauteous here.

Great to see Joni enjoying this, she is not known for showing emotion at other people singing her songs. The vastly underrated Cyndi not only demonstrates that amazing voice again but also shows how powerful understatement can be. Mariah has never shown this much emotion.

This video blows me away. I've listened to this song for, what 40 years, played it for 40 years, and I've never seen or heard it performed more beautifully. Very touching......

This is not an easy song to get right. Cyndi completely nails it. From the cutaways of Joni watching, I think agrees. The standing ovation also tells us a lot about Cyndi's mesmerizing effect on an audience.

I always come back to this performance - Cyndi has some REAL highlights - but this is among my favs. I realize it is a Joni song - yet another terrific song. I just really love the way Cyn sings it - just beautiful. As far as the performance - everything just fell in place for Cyndi this night.

tingles all over, like butterflies all inside.. absolutely BEAUTIFUL ..just so amazing .. cyndi is a legend .. adore her. one of the only covers ive heard that in my opinion is better than the original version. amazing.

LAuper is incredibly underrated, but dont put Beyonce in the same category as Miley or KAtey that's very ignorant, she's an accomplished vocalist

Sorry But Boutancy is simply a fabricated politically correct place individual with marginal "talent". Elle Fitzgerald,Edit Piaf, Patti Russo, Tori Amos etc.etc. are "accomplished" vocalists NOT Bouyancy.

I love Cyndi to bits.. but she BUTCHERED this amazing, beautiful song written (music & lyrics) by *JONI MITCHELL.. WHO'S NAME YOU DIDN'T PUT ON YOUR 'List' of "accomplished" vocalists... or Kate Bush, or SO MANY OTHERS!!!! P.S: PLEASE, don't ever use Tori Amos' name in the same CONVERSATION as Miley, Katy.. etc. That's just pure SACRILEGE! 😧💫🙇😒

I sang this song with 2 "Nyew Joisey goils", Rosalind and Sarah, when we spent a 1973 night sleeping on Crete's Matalla beach after exploring the caves and partying at the Mermaid cafe Joni Mitchell made famous with this song. This song is so true, so real. And I love how Joni mists up as she watches "Nyew Yawkeh" Cyndi Lauper sing this classic in this video. And damn, Cyndi looks and sounds like Rosalind... and thank you Rosalind for introducing me to Sylvia a week later in Athens...

Down- tempo, powerful tribute to Joni. It's easy to forget what a great voice Cyndi has. As cliche as it sounds, Cyndi really did use her voice as an instrument.

A unique and truly original cover, worthy of Joni but more importantly, Cyndi does an AMAZING job of pouring all of her heart and soul into this performance. I could have done with a little less of her body English, but Cyndi was feeling it and I'm glad she did too!

I saw her do this a few nights ago in Niagara Falls. She went into classic Cyndi zone-mode, dancing the same way she is here. It was really cool. :)

I only heard Blue Angel a few yr's ago and as a result found out how great her other stuff was,and is. I had no idea how many other things she did, and how good it is. Even her county covers are great.

Oh my god! I did not know Cyndi Lauper could sing like that! She hits higher notes than Joni did! This is the best vocal cover of a Joni song I have ever heard. I'd love to hear Cyndi sing "River," or "My Old Man." She certainly has the pipes for either.
