There is no "Turkish Cyprus"! It is the occupied part (by Turkey) of the Republic of Cyprus member of the UN and EU.

There is a Turkish part and this unrecognition thing is blocking the peace. The south doesnt recognize the north which causes more pushing this part to Turkey's hands. Then they say ahh we are occupied!

I'm not one to critique military law here, but imagine how cool it would be if, similar to Pripyat in Ukraine aka the Chernobyl Zone, they could allow guided tours around these abandoned areas of Cyprus. I understand though that will probably never happen given how strict the rules are in forbidding the visit to places like Varosha and others around the island.

Was a peacekeeper in Nicosia in 1991. I love this country. I will go back. I love both sides of the green line. Cyprus for Cypriots.

I was in Cyprus back in the 60's when Greeks and Turks proved that they could live together amicably. In my humble opinion the problems started with Grivas and Makarios shouting ENOSIS - "Union with Greece". Had they had the sense to shout " Cyprus for the Cypriots, be they Greek or Turkish" it would probably be an idyllic island today.

BS. The problems started when the Turks decided to stick their nose in Cypriot business in the late 1950's. They directed the TC's not to cooperate in the coalition government basically make it impossible to govern. The Brits encourage it, because they wanted to hang onto their air force bases.

Turkey has made the 1974 July Intervention on the basis of London and Zurich Agreements since it is a guaranteur country like Greece and the UK. Because the above-mentioned countries have restrained to act together with Turkey in 1974, Turkey has made this legal intervention as Archbishop Makarios explained at the UN Security Council meeting after he left Cyprus. As a result of the legal intervention, the lives of innocent people regardless of their ethnic and national origin have been saved. Please remember the civil war after Bloody-handed Nicos Sampson coup de'ta rebel against the official President makarios, and killing and butchering so many Greek and Greek Cypriots each other.

Yeah yeah wright, only you forgot to wrote that actually when invention in July happened only 4% of the island was controled by turkish troops, and then in the midle of a peace treaty conducted bt UN Turkey attacked again violating that treaty with no apparent reason, so please stop bulshiting.

Α "legal peace" intervention with genocides, rapes, acts of war. Nicos Sampson's or any other's far right's actions do not represent the island officially, nor the people or the government back then. But Turkey acted with its official electoral government, it baptized "war" as a peace act and with the blessings of the US, Britain, even the Greece's Dictatorship paved the way to what we have today, a split island.

Maria clearly you don't know history or basic military science. 4% of island is conquered in the first step because that's what can be done in the first step. You ignore the fact that no peace was able to be done conducted by UN. No military group or Turkish commonity can not both literally, legally, logically may be forced to stay in that part of the island. Because it is not good for habitation or defendable.

@@TurkishHedgehog 45 years later Turks still enforce Ethnic Cleansing. UN Resolution 550 calls the Turkish military in Cyprus ILLEGAL and that remains the status quo today.

@@pimpompoom93726 What kind of etnical cleansing are you talking about? There is none Greek left at the north side of island. Where will they find Greek to cleanse that up? UN Resolution 550 doesnt say such thing. Check that out: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Security_Council_Resolution_550 Finally UN is saying nothing about 1960 London Treaty, etnical cleansing of Turks between 1960-1974, succesfully staged coup and stopping of the coup by Turkish Army.

It was not Turkish Fault go learn your history first. For starters like you in 1974 coup d'état in Cyprus was a military coup d'état by the Greek Army in Cyprus, the Cypriot National Guard and the Greek military junta of 1967-1974. On 15 July 1974 the coup plotters ousted President Makarios III and replaced him with pro-Enosis nationalist Nikos Sampson as dictator

Very one sided approach, he walked all on the south side to show Turkish Cypriot flags only at the last part of the video to state a hidden comment on Turkish occupation. In reality there are also a lot of Greek flags in front of a lot of buildings in the south as well. Why there is no Turkish Cypriot reportage to express his/her feelings even for a couple of minutes? The guy says he wants to support the unity then says when he passes to the North he doesn't like it.

This is no true and it's a myth to persuade foreigners not to cross the borders to the North and people holding EU passports are many times threatened by saying if they pass to the North they will not be able to come back and just like you do the Greek side officers tell similar tales to them which are not true. Many pensioners from England live in the North side and very very safe place more than the south

Lets all get our facts right Cyprus is not owned. If you are born on the Island then you are Cypriot no matter were your ancestry lie. if your family originate from Cyprus somehow then you are entitled to apply for citizenship so let all Cypriots sort out its problems without USA Turkey GB and Greece sticking their oar into the Cypriot problems. Eoka and ENOSIS shlould never ever become an idea for Greek Cypriots again. No minority/minority rules. Turks are not minority. Otherwise Turkish soldiers will remain on the island to protect our people.

Many centuries it was not Greek and you were okay with it. Will you give up the that primary school idiocracy some day? Cyprus' ancient history is not that clear as you claim. @@TurkishHedgehog I understand your point and I agree Cypru's history is complicated but Greeks were the first that came to Cyprus with more peaceful intentions and helped Cyprus grow with economy and art..!Look at our tradition is filled with Greece so we call ourselves Greek Cypriots
