Holding tight or loose definitely makes a difference with different ammo i noticed that today ill be trying out different techniques for sure

Great analogy of holding the gun tight sometimes. With my 1022s I have to hold them tight because of the cycling. Thanks for your time.

Surprising results. Really wasn’t expecting much from a HV ammo. Wonder how it will do at distance?

Not too bad. Thanks

Surprised you were able to find this stuff in Canuckistan... really must have been an older supply because Hornady no longer loads .22LR rimfire of any sort at all. Seems the marketing machine had them switch over to focusing on their own baby (17HMR) instead. It's a shame really. they helped kill the competitions superior 17WSM the same way by stopping ammo production. When they named the product "varmint express" one would expect at very least a hollow point on there. Personally my 455 loves the SK match ammo but when I use it for gophers and even on coyotes its a clean pass through with very little energy dumped into the target. I swapped over to the Eley .22 subsonic hollow points and you can actually hear the difference when they hit game. No more passthroughs on the coyotes either. For the folks in a free country reading this and wondering why I'm shooting coyotes with a .22 LR.. well.. In Chinada suppressors on a firearm are legally prohibited - at the same time they will give you a ticket for no muffler on your vehicle. Pretty much leaves us with only rimfire if we want to shoot semi-quietly for pest control unless you want to handload .300BLK or 45-70 for gophers! Thanks again for the video!

Shooting with a "death grip" vs shooting "free recoil" ie not touching the rifle..generally has more to do with the Rifle than the ammo. That Hornady ammo is nothing to write home about...plinking ammo IMHO (maybe pest control 50 yards and in) Good video. Maybe a new video could be groups (same ammo)...5 5 shot groups free recoil vs 5 5 shot groups with strong hold.

Great video. It would be interesting to see how two of the same model, and set up compair head to head with a variety of ammo. Same ammo, same variables, it would be interesting. Does anyone anyone in Eastern/Central Ontario want to set something up? 🤔

Nice work, thanks for doing the hard work, helps with picking the next lot of ammo. Anyway I have just checked Hornady's website and it looks like they don't manufacture it any more. Makes you wonder why.

From other comments I’ve learned it’s made by CCI and basically their version on standard velocity but with Hornady brass
@fredshebester-wg4vb29 күн бұрын
The first couple of groups looked like the velocity danced around quite a bit. The last 4 groups the velocity seemed to have stabilized.

Are these rebranded cci's? That's what I heard Don't get them in South Africa as yet

It would be a great "varmint" round. out of that barrel anyhow... the later groups are about the same as i see with cci sv with my MTR. going to have to pick up a box, i'm curious! ;) interesting result... Cheers, Ryan

Found some Red Box Norma Tac22, got about the same results. Luckily i only got 2 boxes!

I'm guessing this ammunition is manufactured by CCI. Hornady does not manufacture rimfire ammo. CCI loads the Hornady .22 WMR, .17 HMR and .17 Mach II. Your chronograph numbers seem to indicate that this is re-labeled CCI Standard Velocity. I haven't seen these Hornady labeled .22 LR in the U.S.

I'm your 15th like and 48th view. I like that barrel, I've got one but it is fluted and threaded mounted on a stainless 455. It shoots pretty good. I wonder why the ammo is called express? It is standard velocity on that chrono. I've been trying different versions of Eley like Match, Team, The wolf labeled stuff in a Bergara B14 and all shoot hotter than what's list on the box. Like 1150 or so. I'm at see level (Florida). It shoots good enough to keep buying it. I need to see the speed in a longer barrel. I'd like to get back to more traditional profile barrels and guns (Sporters) shooting top dollar ammo in them. I've got a lot of them and time is an issue for me. I'd like to see more content on those if you care. I'm always going to be here supporting the algorithm. Thanks for the content.

Do you think it was maybe the fact you needed more rounds through the barrel to settle it down.

I have noticed the free recoil or snug grip with dif ammo also. I have wondered if it's just the way I am shooting someday. Or if it is the ammo.
@foonus40629 күн бұрын
I have good success shooting free recoil all the way up to and including 300PRC, but I have a carbon fiber 7PRC that absolutely will not shoot the ELD-X free recoil. It's the first rifle I had that will not shoot free recoil.... It's so light that you need a death grip on it for them to group. Interestingly enough, when I started to handload the same ELD-X bullets in the spent Hornady brass and brought them closer to the lands my groups tightened up without having to change to a death grip so ya, obviously a change in harmonics.

I don't see this ammo in Hornady (USA) website.
@foonus40629 күн бұрын
It's an old ammo line. If you look on the Hornady website they no longer produce anything in 22LR at all... they did the same with the competition's .17WSM perhaps the marketing machine has them thinking they can turn more folks onto their own 17HMR instead.

@@CountryRimfire The dissolution of Czechoslovakia, which took effect on December 31, 1992, was the self-determined secession of the federal republic of Czechoslovakia into the independent countries of the Czech Republic and Slovakia ;) Having ancestry back there it never fails to surprise me how people still use the name of the old republic!

@foonus406 that is just how they printed it up here in the US. I didn't know this, so ty for the info! I will use the correct name from here forth 😉
