@nemo5335
@nemo5335 9 жыл бұрын
megadeth22885 Yeah, it would work nice for deer and boar. The big draw to this rifle is that ammo is super cheap, so you can practice more. IIRC, 7.62x39 is still the cheapest centerfire rifle round. It doesn't matter how good the rifle is, or how good the round is, if you can't practice with it, you can't use it effectively. With this thing you could shoot 20 cent a round Wolf all day at the range, then switch to the fancy stuff for hunting. Surprised no one had this idea before, actually. x39 has very similar ballistics to .30-30, and that's one of the most popular deer rounds of all time.

hulk hogan i primarily shoot AKs, though i used to primarily shoot 5.56 AKs i have been switching over to 7.62 AKs, i am starting to like the round more
@nemo5335
@nemo5335 9 жыл бұрын
megadeth22885 Think it really depends on the type of shooting you do. I live in a heavily forested area, so I rarely, if ever get shots beyond 100 yards. At that sort of range, 7.62x39 hits like a freight train. A good vital shot on a deer will drop it where it stands if you're using decent ammo. If I was doing longer range shooting, the 5.56 would be the better choice, though.
@megadeth22885
@megadeth22885 9 жыл бұрын
hulk hogan i think the idea that x39 is short ranged is mostly just hype pushed by the AR-15 crowd who desperately want to believe their rifle is better at SOMETHING.. but same quality ammo, same quality barrels i find the x39 delivering much more power at greater distances with similar accuracy to an AR-15 the downside is you will get a bit more drop at distance but with the sights properly zeroed its not that much of a problem.. so at any range id prefer 7.62x39 at this point, 5.56x45 only interested me for "ammo commonality" with other 5.56 rifles being more common in the united states, which isnt a bad thing to have around but at $40 a magazine or $250 for a magazine adapter, having just one 5.56 AK is plenty for that purpose, the rest of mine can be x39s the other reason im starting to favor x39 is the steel cased ammo, the steel cased, corrosive primed stuff is dirt cheap to buy in large quantities and lasts forever in storage (since the chemical used in the primers doesnt decay or degrade over time).. could i reload a ton of 5.56 with once fired brass and bulk bullets? sure, but i wouldnt be saving any money over steel cased x39 which i dont have to waste my time reloading
@nemo5335
@nemo5335 9 жыл бұрын
megadeth22885 Yeah, like I said before, the best rifle is the one you can afford to train with. Even with the sanctions against Russia, x39 is still only around 20 cents a round, and that's the highest it's been in years. There's premium x39 out there, too, so you can keep a box or two of the fancy stuff for hunting and then just shoot Wolf or Bear at the range.

CZ 527 7.62x39 is an absolutely perfect gun for brush and mid-range hunting. The best thing about it is that you can take it to the range and have some fun and keep in practice, without wasting a bunch of money on feeding it. I can't say the same about any other hunting rifle I own, even if you're firing reloads. I have several AKs and SKSes, so I also don't have to worry about stocking additional calibers. This gun is a win-win all around. Handy, accurate, nice looking, and cheap to shoot.

Its about mag availability most guys I know like to have at least 2 mags for there bolt guns and this things kinda expensive to get a second mag (if you csn find them) and also a lot if guys like the bigger mags for shooting on the range no one in there right mind would use this as a fighting rifle I had one I used to hunt hogs and I often wished I could slap a larger mag into it I actualy sold mine because of the mags I wanted a second one and at the time it was going to cost me 100 plus for it so I sold it and got a troy pump action ar-15 look alike in 300 blk

Found Hornady black,123 grain, sst, shot 3/4 group, more than once, couple even better at 100 yds. (3 shot group). Very nice rifle. PS, optics planet has the extra magazine. $40 or so. Spendy, but worth it. Good quality.

Yeah. Now it would be nice if there were 10 round mags, but again... Scout rifle. Meant for sporting or hunting. EDIT: Plus, theoretically, you could make your own 10 round mags, by somehow extending a regular mag? Its an interesting idea. EDIT2: Its also about mag availability. Stamped AK mags are cheap compared to a proprietary mag for this specific gun.

Without exception, these are overall the most accurate rifles I've ever owned. Friends have thought I was lying about the groups the.22's shot with CCI Stingers at 75 yards So I loaned them a couple of them and let them prove it to themselves. They are now true believers.

Int0x19, the cz 527 has an 18.5" barrel. Yes you're correct, the round was designed for engagements under 250 yards. Like the Germans The Soviets took the 7.92x33 Kurtz round for their own. They realized full powered rifle rounds were unnecessary for combat as most engagements were under 250 yards so the weight, kick of full rifle rounds were inefficient. Hence the birth of the 7.62x39.

I can attest to what Hickok says about the quality. I just bought one for my wife as a Christmas present. Yeah, I know, it's way past Christmas but she applied for her PAL (Canadian gun owners license) two months before last Christmas and it just arrived last week. She bought herself a nice little 10/22 and I promised her I'd buy her a nice rifle suited to her (she's very small, maybe 105lbs). This seemed perfect. It's really nicely finished and you can tell it's a quality piece as soon as you look at it. This video was very helpful in making the decision to get her this, she's a big fan of Hickok. I also considered a Mini30 for her but I really do think this was a better choice for her in the end. Oh yeah, she also bought an extra mag and three boxes of cartridges to get started.

Dordor What are you planning to do with it? If you're only interest in an intermediate cartridge bolt action the 527 maybe a good choice since CZ only offers it in what they consider "micron center fire". If you're planning on taking large game or just pure accuracy you may be better with the Tikka chambered in something else.

10 years later and I think I may have purchased the last known CZ 527 in .223 on the market at Bill Jacksons Florida last year. Love the bolt action. Accurate out to 1000 yards on a 12 in plate. Best suited for 300-600 yards. Love this rifle, wish I had purchased a few more in other calibers. The discontinuation of the CZ 527 and new release of CZ 600 disaster may have ruined this brand forever. The only other bolt action rifle they still make is the CZ 457 rimfire 22lr and it's a popular favorite.

I bought one a couple months ago. Put a vortex 3-12x42 scope on it and proceeded to shoot 1 inch groups at 100 yards on first time at the range with Tula ammo. Great pinker! Only complaint is the steel ammo feeds pretty rough. Hornady Black shot 3/4” for my best 5 shot group, and fed easier. If you looked at only 4 shot grouping, I had a couple clover leafs with the Hornady, like 1/2 inch 4 shot at 100 yds. Not bad for a little carbine that’s cheap to shoot. Totally love the set trigger for accuracy

Cz makes a 527fs, only available in 223 though. If they offered that model in 7.62x39 or 6.5 grendel I'd own another 527! Lol. I know what you mean about mannlicher stocked rifles! I love em! The most beautiful rifle I own is a sako bavarian carbine in 9.3x62. It's too nice to bang around out in the woods though, that's my safe queen!

I have the CZ 550 in .458 Win Mag. The set trigger really helps for accuracy. In my gun recoil anticipation leads to jerking the trigger. The set trigger is so light that once on target, touch the trigger and it hits where you aim it.

I have one in 223, with a Weaver 3X9 mounted on it, and it has outstanding accuracy at 200 yards, even with 55gr. milsurp ammo. The drawback of the 527 in 223 is that it has a relatively slow rate of twist so anything above 55 to 60 grain bullets won't work very well. CZ does however use a CIP European chamber spec, so 5.56 military ammo is perfectly safe to shoot in it.

There's a definition for a battle rifle: it's a military weapon, that shoots a full-powered rifle round. A full-powered rifle round is generally >2500J of energy. 7.62x39mm has ~2000J, technically it's an intermediate round, although badly designed, as it's energy is relatively low, while it still has a high impulse (heavy bullet of medium velocity), which gives you relatively poor ballistics, with a relatively high recoil. Oh and the case speaks of the powder charge and thus velocity.

Darryl Rossetti the 7.62x39 in this rifle is only really effective up to 200 yards. The cz527 is a great rifle, but the mossberg patriot is much cheaper, comes with a scope, chambered in 11 different calibres, has a fluted barrel and fluted bolt with an excellent safety and is extremely accurate, all for under 450 dollars. (Unless you don't live in the USA, idk about prices then.)
