The CZ-70 is a Czechoslovakian-made Walther PPK clone 32 AUTO pistol from the Cold-War era produced between 1970 and 1981. The CZ-70 is an updated version of the better known CZ-50 produced between 1950 and 1970. The earlier CZ-50 was intended for the Czech police and security/intel services military and law enforcement use. The CZ-70 reflects improvements in design over the CZ-50 and enjoys a reputation for being well made, reliable, and accurate. It also has a rather unique two-stage safety/decocker system. However the action on the CZ-70 is heavy for a compact 32 pistol. CZ, or Ceska Zbrojovka AS, remains in business today. Includes range activity and a demonstration of disassembly and reassembly.

Enjoyed the review. A few years ago, I found one of these, in decent shape, and no import-marks, for $150, 'cause it came with the most horrible, homemade plywood grips. Got a set of original grips on eBay, actually from the Czech republic, for $35, including shipping. However, I put a set of repro CZ 50 grips on the pistol for shooting, as I find those much more stylish and comfortable! Since then, I've picked up a nice, surplus 1971 German Police Walther PP .32 in the original box - of course for a much higher price! 🙂

Great review! I have one of these. Mil surp collector with a Comm bloc emphasis. I love my CZs...also, FEG made some great guns from that era and older, too.

Thanks for the vid. well done. Have shot mine now for over 7 years. Fortunately I reload 32acp. It was mfg. in 1981 and has no import markings!

New sub here, great review! Love my CZ 70 (made in 74) a little tack driver and if you keep it clean and run it with a thin coat of Wilson universal lube on the rail guides and in the slide it’ll run fantastic! These guns are designed to be drop safe as well. I keep it in my rotation as a cc weapon, shot placement should be kept in mind if you cc this gun though.

This is a good informative video. Acquired mine recently in pristine condition (has the bluing, clean bore, slight few scratches on the frame) at a local armory for $310. People get them while you can, price will climb in within 2 years or more. As you stated, It is a good somewhat alternative Czech version of the Walther PP that is reliable and does not break the bank. Also, it is my first CZ to ever own. I was thinking on getting a CZ52 Tokerev they had for $450. However in terms of compact and handling ergonomics, the CZ70 stole my heart.

In the same family, I enjoy my vz52 7.62x25 fire breathing, ear bleeding pistol.. CZ's 24, 27, 50, 70 are similar but the 52 has unique roller lock slide. Different times for pistol design. Nothing like the advent of polymer striker fired pistols. Thank god Sig Sauer still produces all metal quality pistols. 👍

CZ 50 and 70: are not clones of PPK. CZ is superior as it has fewer moving parts two thirds of those in PPK. And as any mechanical engineer will confirm fewer moving parts means more reliable design.
