■観世流　能　経正(つねまさ)
　a Kanze Style Noh Play Tsunemasa
　京都・仁和寺御室御所に仕える行慶(ぎようけい)僧都は、法親王の命により、一の谷の合戦で討ち死にした平経政(経正)(たいらのつねまさ)を弔うこととなりました。そこで琵琶の名手として知られた経政が愛用した青山(せいざん)という銘の琵琶を仏前に据え、管弦講※を執り行います。経政の成仏を祈る音楽が響き、夜半を過ぎた頃、燈火(ともしび)のなかに人影がほのかに見えてきました。不思議に思った行慶がどういう方が現れたのかと問うと、その人影は、「経政の幽霊である、お弔いの有難さに現れたのだ」と告げるのでした。行慶が声の方へ向くと、人影は陽炎のように消えて声ばかり残ります。なお行慶が消え残る声と言葉を交わすと、亡霊は、花鳥風月を愛で、詩歌管弦に親しんだ在りし日を懐かしみます。そして青山の琵琶を奏で、舞うなどして往時の様子をあらわにし、夜遊の時を楽しむのでした。しかしそれも東の間。修羅道に堕ちた身には、憤りの心が起こります。経政はあさましい戦いに苦しむ姿を見せ、その身を恥ずかしく思って人に見られまいと燈火を消し、暗闇に紛れて消え失せていきました。
※管弦講とは、管弦の楽器により物楽を奏して死者を弔う法事。
　By order of the Ho-Shinno (an imperial prince who has become a priest), Monk Gyokei, who serves the Omurolmperial Palace at Ninnna-ji Temple in Kyoto, holds a memorial service for Taira-no-Tsunemasa, who was killed at the Battle of Ichi-no-Tani. Because Tsunemasa was known as a skillful lute player and he treasured his lute "Seizan,”Gyokei performs a Kangenk0 (a Buddhist memorial service with orchestral music), offering the lute to his soul.
The mourning music continues, and after midnight, in the middle of a bonfire appears a faint figure of a man. Gyokei asks who it is, and the figure answers that it is Tsunemasa's ghost, which has appeared to show its gratitude for the memorial service.
When Gyokei turns to the direction of the figure, it disappears, and only its voice can be heard. The remaining voice talks nostalgically about the old days, when Tsunemasa appreciated the beauties of nature and enjoyed poetry and music. The faint figure amuses itself by dancing and playing 'Seizan, ' which shows what a graceful person it was it was in the past. However, having been killed in the battle and fallen in the Realm of Asura, soon it cannot suppress resentment against its enemies. Ashamed of showing itself struggling in such a wretched state, it extinguishes the bonfire and disappears in the darkness.

■大蔵流　狂言　太刀奪（たちうばい）
　an Ookura Style Kyogen Play Stealing the Sword
　北野天満宮の「お手水(おちょうず )」の神事の日に、参詣に出かけた主人と太郎冠者。途中でよい太刀を持った男を見かけ、その男の太刀を奪おうと計画します。太郎冠者は市をのぞいている男の太刀に手をかけますが、逆に脅され、主人から預かっていた刀を奪われてしまいます。奪われた刀を取り戻すため、二人は男を待ち伏せし、捕ま、んよ、つとしますか・「泥棒を捕らえて縄を綯う」という諺を舞台化した狂言です。京都北野天満宮の「お手水(おちょうず)。神事の日には、今でいう朝市が出て大変な賑わいでした。現在も七月七日に「御手洗祭」が行われています。

■観世流　能　三輪（みわ）
　a Kanze Style Noh Play Miwa
　大和国三輪の里(今の奈良県桜井市付近)に玄賓(げんびん)という僧がすんでいました。玄賓の庵に、樒(しきみ)を持ち、水を汲んで毎日訪ねる女の人がいました。玄賓が不審に思い、名前を尋ねようと待っているところへ、今日もその女性がやってきました。折しも秋の寂しい日のことでした。女の人は玄賓に対して、夜も寒くなってきたので、衣を一枚くださいと頼みます。玄賓はたやすいことですと、衣を与えました。女の人が喜び、帰ろうとするので、玄賓はどこに住んでいるのかと尋ねました。女性は、三輪の麓に住んでいる、杉立てる門を目印においでください、と言い残し姿を消しました。その日、三輪明神にお参りした里の男が、ご神木の杉に玄賓の衣が掛かっているのを見つけ、玄賓に知らせます。男の知らせを受けた玄賓が杉の立つところに来ると、自分の衣が掛かっており、歌が縫い付けてあるのを見つけます。そのとき、杉の木陰から美しい声がして、女体の三輪の神が現れました。三輪の神は玄賓に神も衆生を救うために迷い、人と同じような苦しみを持つので、罪を救ってほしいと頼みます。そして、三輪の里に残る、神と人との夫婦の昔語を語り、天の岩戸の神話を語りつつ神楽を舞い、やがて夜明けを迎えると、僧は今まで見た夢から覚め、神は消えていきました。
　Near Mount Miwa in Yamato (today's Sakurai in Nara) lives a monk named Genpin. There 1S a woman who visits his hermitage to offer a branch of Japanese star anise and some water every day and the monk wonders who she is. On a lonely fall day, he decides to ask her name and waits for her. The woman visits him and asks for a P1ece of kimono to get through the cold at night. Genpin gives her one, and she is grateful. When she is leaving, he asks her where she lives. She answers that she lives at the foot of Mount Miwa. She tells him that he can visit her with a cedar tree at the gate as a guide to her house. With that, she disappears.
Later that day, a villager who visited Miwa Myojin Shrine, lets Genpin know that he found Genpin's kimono hanging on the sacred cedar tree. Genpin goes there and sees it's true. When he finds a poem has been sewn on the kimono, a beautiful voice is heard from behind the tree, and the Goddess of Miwa appears. She says that, because gods are also distressed and struggle to save people, she would like him to save her soul. She tells an old legend about a couple that included a god and a human in Miwa, and dances kagura telling a myth of Ame-no lwato. When the dawn comes, Genpin awakes from the dream, and the Goddess disappears.
