I agree. I think there is a reason Kersh loves pitching to Barnes. I believe it is because his pitch calling is slightly better than Will Dill. The problem is Will's bat is so good you need him in the lineup, and since there is no way he is going to take Shohei's DH spot, you have to live with it. Also, I don't think Yoshi ever calls his own pitch. I rarely see him shake off the catcher.

Barnes is good as a game calling catcher...Where will is a offensive catcher with mid level game calling....The dodgers can do two thing first let yama call some of the pitch(which he has never done) or secondly make will a game calling catcher....Both are hard thing to do....But if smith becomes a game calling catcher like realmuto he will definitely become the best catcher...

It's a good idea to successfully bunt against infielders who are guarding deep defense against a 120 mph ball, and he has the skill and speed to do so. He did it many times when he was with the Angels.

This game featured yet another illustration of how umpire's incorrect calls can entirely change the course of a game. The pitch which was called ball 4 to Ohtani to load the bases was clearly a strike. We can't know what the outcome would have been if the correct call had been made, but what we do know is that the incorrect call resulted in a grand slam by Freeman. This point would be mute except for the fact that a 3D digital electronic system is already in place and ready to be implemented that can identify balls and strikes with 100% accuracy.

I honestly believe the league has juiced the ball in a way that benefits the pitchers….too much drop off for too many players. It might be interesting to see what the FA market looks like this year..’is it by chance hitter heavy?
