I have a necromancer in a system I’m beta testing that is squeamish when it comes to handling rotting corpses. So, in order to still practice necromancy she opted to become a chef instead (as all food is made up of dead plants and animals) and use her skills in a culinary setting. The catch is that poop also counts as dead tissue and she can literally make anyone poo themselves in a certain radius or if she has line of sight to them. You’d be amazed how effective of a distraction it is to have your enemies shit themselves on command.

So mine is kind of homebrew but more of a "ill allow it" situation from the DM, mainly because he liked the idea. So the character was a child of Tiamat cursed to live in a human body during the day(like a reverse Fiona from Shrek but with a dragon instead of an ogre) The biggest catch that made this character an extremely fun and over powered build. The catch to it was that because Tiamat is the queen of dragons I could take the form of any dragon from the books as long as I have previously come in contact with its DNA.(typically I obtained the forms by drinking the blood of a dragon that willingly gave it to me.)Due to the fact that I outright refused to kill another dragon this led to some interesting moment in the campaign of me actually siding with dragons and fighting my party. Also whatever form of dragon I took was the stats that the character had in dragon form. Now here's where it got fun. I took druid as the class for my human form which gave me control of my shifting by using wild shape allowing me to shift into my dragon forms even during the day. Tack on Wild Mage and I was shifting during the day but totally random as to the form I took. It is by far my favorite character I have ever made and due to the life span of a dragon this character has not only been in multiple campaigns as a PC and even more as an NPC after I retired the character for a new one. I now play a half elf Necromancer/Paladin that is lawful/evil due to multiple personalities

Bastion of Blades! In 3.5 there was an exotic weapon, broad blade short sword, that gave a +2 dodge bonus to your AC when fighting defensively or putting 2 points towards combat expertise. My character bastion used two of them (dodge bonuses to AC stacked). Being a multi class swordsage (at level 2 they could wear light armor and add their wisdom modifier as an AC bonus) Swashbuckler (they gained weapon fitness and added their intelligence modifier to weapon damage) and fighter (needed the combat feats) I dumped charisma (naturally) and Constitution (ballsy move for any melee character) Bastion had an AC of 30 by level 3. He also did 2d6+strength mod+intelligence mod+weapon enhancements with each attack. And he had 2-10 attacks per round depending on his level. In 3.5 few characters reached AC that high, regarless of their level. And I couldn't help but play this character as an absolute douche. I gave him a mullet and he insulted everyone he saw, just trying to start a fight. He was untouchable and was eager to prove it. He would alienate everyone but would look for a nerd (wizard) to be his companion so he could get his gear enchanted in a more cost effective way. Bastion wasn't just homicidal he was deicidal. He wanted to kill gods! Sadly no dm (or other players) where willing to let Bastion progress to that point. Several DMs spent sleepless nights plotting to kill him. When their conspiracies failed to bare fruit they would eventually just ask me to change characters. And I politely would. Bastion may try to antagonize everyone he meets, but his player doesn't.

I made an op phoenix sorcerer. My dm allowed me to revise the phoenic sorcerer since we both a greed it was underpowered. I gave it origin spells, a way to get past fire resistance and immunity, more Mantle of Flame uses, and more healing. Combine that with high rolls for ability scores, 20 Con and 20 Cha, and the tough feat, you have a nuking tank that destroys everything in their path. While Mantle of Flame was active, I out damaged both the rogue and even the paladin when they smited. I had as much hp as the figher. Needles to say, I was a little lot op.

I have played with a Vengeance Paladin 6/ Inquisitive Rogue 5 that just reached Tier 3 in 5th Edition Adventurer's League and they can get quite formidable. I can easily take a ray of disintegration without any damage(shield master), Tank with so much AC(23 base, 25 with Shield of Faith, 29 with defensive duelist). Can sneak attack smite with Vow of Enmity and can halve damage (if ever they take any) on a reaction. Quite formidable, took 3 Inflict Wounds in a row from an enemy and still won the damage race.

Kobold Hexblade Warlock 2/Divine Soul Sorcerer 18. You have pack tactics which means as long as you have an ally next to the enemy you can reliably bomb them from the back row. Pick Eldritch blast, Hex and for invocations pick Agonizing blast and devil's sight or Eldritch mind. For metamagic, pick quickened and extended. This build is amazing at any level. At lvl 5 (2 Hexblade/3 Divine Soul) you do the following in a single turn: 4d10 (Eldritch blast) + 4d6 (Hex) + 4*proficiency (Hexblade's curse) + 4*CHA (Agonizing blast). At higher levels you can boost your max HP with Aid (with extended metamagic lasts 16 hours), you can convert warlock spell slots into sorcery points regaining spells on a short rest, and you can block magic with shield, absorb elements and counterspell. You can also cast guidance to boost all your skill checks, you can heal yourself and you can create thralls using mending + gentle repose + revivify, combining multiple corpses into a single thrall (since dead body parts are considered objects which means mending works on them). This is a fun build to say the least. You can also create sunglasses that last up to 20 mins by casting darkness using the extended metamagic to double how long it lasts. With devil's sight you can see through it but since the sunlight isn't actually making contact with your eyes it functions like a pair of sunglasses while granting you advantage on attacks and your enemies disadvantage. For added fun, make your character 2 feet tall and give them a teddy bear costume. Also buy as many trap type items as humanly possible. Enjoy! (PS at lvl 20 that same equation does double damage and only costs a first level spell to do as the cantrip continues to scale).

one of my players is running an Avariel (winged elf) Duskblade, her weapon of choice is a scythe. She can obviously fly and/or hover so she can shoot arrows from above if she chooses to use her bow, or... she uses her attack action to make 1 charge attack. This is 3.5 so charge does double damage by default, scythe crit damage modifier is x4... she took improved critical so she her threat range is 18-20, if she crits on a charge she can do upwards 190something damage if all dice roll in her favor... and thats not counting damage from a spell waiting to be expended through the weapon because Duskblade.

It allows you to effectively teleport around for free using the Shadow Monk's 6th level ability - they can teleport up to 60ft. away to a place in dim light or darkness that they can see. On top of that, Monk always benefits from advantage on all attacks, and Rogue gives that bonus sneak attack damage as well.

For the campaign I'm in currently, my character's (a gold dragonborn fighter) backstory is that his mother is an extremely powerful warrior in the guild that's part of this world, who then personally trained him. My character isn't all that astounding, a tank style fighter with battle master for archetype, but his mother, who I was told that I could make as absolutely overpowered as I want (since she's an npc, nobody plays her, its fine), is one of the most terrifying characters I have ever made. More below the cut. Using some homebrew feats to flesh out her build, she dual wields +2 Flametongue Greatswords, dons a +3 Adamantine Plate armor, is a level 18 Fighter with Unearthed Arcana subclass Brute, and use her 2 fighting styles to allow dual weapon fighting to use weapon/skill bonuses and proficiencies, as well as reroll 1s or 2s on damage dies. With her 6 feats I was able to 1. Allow her to dual wield two handed weapons without penalty, 2. Make dual weapon fighting attack as many times as she can use her action to attack with (3 attacks because of Extra Attack, so she can attack 6 times using both her action and bonus action), 3. Take the Mobile feat so it's impossible to escape her, 4. Make her immune to Strength decreases of any kind as well as increasing how much she can carry, 5. Allow her to attempt to frighten someone using a bonus action as well as gain expertise with Intimidation, and 6. Take the Skill Expert feat to grant expertise with Athletics. Because she is deliberately made as overpowered as possible, she has a Strength score of 23, because fuck you. All in all, with everything activated, she is able to attack 6 times with one turn, gain +14 to each of those 6 attacks, have a total formula of 4d6+1d8+8 for each hit, make it impossible to reduce that damage, can't outrun or block the damage, frighten whoever her target is, and basically be impossible to restrain or stop physically. She could face against an Adult Dragon and solo it.

I was playing an Elven Assassin Rogue. Due to a high stat roll, my dex was a perfect 20. I took the piercer feat. Assassinate gives you “advantage on attack rolls against any creature that hasn't taken a turn in the combat yet. In addition, any hit you score against a creature that is surprised is a critical hit.” And piercer grants triple damage on a crit as opposed to double. So I am essentially the group sniper; silently demolishing all the grunts before the rest of the party goes in guns blazing.

Tortle spore druid. Decent tank (17ac with shield+Temp hp from spore form), healer (healing word&spirit), and great caster/summoner (create dead/zomboys). Really difficult to take down, and conjure animals is really OP. Throwing out 8 animals makes for good control and the damage stacks up quickly. Just overwhelm the enemy with summons. Not a lot you cannot do.

I'm going to mention 3 of my characters. These were all 3.5 I think. Might have been pf1 on one. First off, I had a half dragon monk/cleric who used their claws. This wasn't crazy until I discovered a spell called Blood Wind. Which basically allows me to make unarmed attacks at a range of 20 ft. While under this effect, and a few other things that are escaping me, I could flurry of blows anything and everything in a 20ft radius of me. I also had some items and stuff(homebrew by the dm I think) that have me dumb amounts of bonus damage on my unarmed attacks. And I liked spells that allowed me to give my attacks bonus energies and stuff. Second was a simple rogue/wizard who i ended up hard focusing on ray spells beverage i found a prestige class that gave me all sorts of bonuses for them. And did you know that you can sneak attack with a ray spell? I didn't until I learned all this. Idr the name of the class, but I think it's found in Complete Arcane. That character was a lot of fun. With all my extra damage, I could basically choose enemies to delete every turn. Up to and including bosses. The last character that I'm going to mention... well it's less about the character than it is about the mechanic of burrow speeds. The thing is, while a creature is burrowing, you can't really do anything about it without some sort of effect that impacts the ground around it. You need something to either damage the whole area including the ground, like a sphere of annihilation or something to remove the ground from the equation, I'm not remembering any 3rd ed spells that can just part the ground, but I know there are some. Even things like fireball won't affect the target of they're underground. To make matters worse, this was on a pseudodragon(had like an earth elemental template or something idr) and I had spell thief levels. So I was a sneaky little bastard burrowing around stinging your ankles with my stinger. Which makes you save vs falling asleep for 1d3 hours. If you fall asleep, you had better hope I don't manage to put everyone else around asleep. Because once everyone is asleep I start cutting throats. Additionally, since I'm a spell thief, which is a variation on rogue, I have sneak attack. But my sneak attack doesn't just do extra damage. I can choose to steal spells and spell like abilities if I think the target might be a caster. I could steal the fire immunity from a red dragon then fireball down its throat if I wanted to. Digger was a fun little bastard. But he caused a lot of grief for the DM who could figure out how to deal with the burrowing without putting the entire party in unreasonable levels of danger.

By blending 3.5 rules with a few Eberron feats I was able to make a Warlock that at level 12 could and did create 1 magic item each day, at no cost to xp or gold and with any caster level I wanted. Eberron had stackable feats that cut down crafting time, xp cost, and gold cost when making magic items by 1/4 per feat. In 3.5 Warlocks can, at level 12, make a use magic device check in place of casting a spell, when making magic items. Divine or arcane spell. ANY SPELL!! There were also Ioun stones (magic items that didn't take up item slots) that would increase your caster level. So by stacking feats that cut down costs and crafting ioun stones that increased my caster level, I was able to make the infinity gauntlet at level 12. A gauntlet that could cast any spell, at will, with a max caster level (usually20). And this was a full decade before that movie came out and I had no idea the infinity gauntlet was a thing. I thought I was being cool and original. May not have been original. But it was cool. That was the day I fell in love with Fire Storm. 20d6 fire damage to 20 different targets, reflex save for half. Insert O-face image. Didn't last long though. After using the gauntlet and it's limitless powers to make an item for a friend that gave him 2 feats from Savage Species that buffed his strength and con every time he took 50 damage, while also dealing and then healing50 damage in a loop every 6 seconds (don't bother with the math. We just said his strength and constitution were 999 after 1 day) and then gateing this friend to Asmodeus himself. I shouldn't describe what fictionaly transpired after that but if you are curious look up on KZfaq Actionfiguretherapy honey badger blood orgy. That should paint a good picture. Well with Asmodeus slain the lawful gods were upset because now the pact primeval was broken, and they took away my gauntlet. Sad face.

Bugbear with 15 levels in Assassin Rogue and 5 in Zealot Barbarian. It’s really just a better rogue. Sneak only specifies finesse weapon, not Dex stat. With the bugbear sneak attack feature and the zealot’s bonus radiant or necrotic damage you either don’t lose out on any sneak attack damage or gain more(I made this build a while ago, forget the number of dice) on that assassinate attack, though you do lose a little since the bugbear feature only works once per combat but you still get rage damage which somewhat makes up for it. You get a plus 10 to movement speed and have extra reach, effectively giving you the mobile feat minus the difficult terrain bonus as long as enemies don’t also have reach. While raging you get resistance to bludgeoning piercing, and slashing and with uncanny dodge you can once per reaction you can reduce it to 1/4 damage or take half on another damage type. You have advantage on Dex Saves and have evasion. If you do somehow die, you can be brought back without components. I haven’t had a chance to use this build but on paper it seems very powerful. It’s been a while but I think it was best to start with Barbarian then multiclass to rouge, get to level 3 rogue, then level 5 Barbarian, and then roughs rest of the way. Power seems consistent throughout, and you get the same number of ASI’s as a Barbarian would thanks to the extra ones rogue gets. If anyone has anything to add to this one let me know, I really want to use this sometime

Not D&D, but I made an elven demonomorph in Chronopia (Swedish RPG) that was immune to all non-magical damage, immune to all magic, immune to disease, immune to poison and immortal. He wasn't all that powerful (since I had to abuse the point buy system, his ability scores tanked (CON 3, anyone?).), but being pretty much indestructible made him an incredible tank as hunger and suffocation were pretty much the only ways to hurt him.

I made a character for pathfinder that crits. 30% percent of the time, theoretically. He uses a Nodachi (basically a greatsword sized katana) which crits. on 18-20. Get it enchanted with keen, which double the crit. range, making it 15-20. I got a weapon attachment that is a bunch of barbed hooks, doing 2 extra points of damage on crits. that is affected by the crit. multiplier. I've also taken several feats that all give debuffs such a blind, bleed, deafen, and stun whenever I land a crit. as well as critical focus (+4 on crit. confirmation rolls). My most fun builds stem from a gimmick, and then I figure out how to take that gimmick and make it viable or OP. This one was just, "Can I make a character that is focused on critting all the time?"

I had a pathfinder slayer build that replaced all it's sneak attack damage with flat bonuses and a feat tree that let me trip sneak attack and power attack on my first attack (with no penalty), then make like 7 more sneak attacks on a downed enemy. My bonuses were high enough that It worked pretty much all the time, and when it didn't it tripped on the second attack then I could do it. It was pretty funny when the orge lich or whatever we were fighting realized he didn't have nearly enough hp to be mouthy with me. In pf my friend built a ninja optimized to deal nonlethal damage. At level 3 he would attack 3 times invisibly and hit for like 60 damage or something. In pf I built a halfling swashbuckler that would hit for more than 50 damage per hit by like level 7. Halfling was key, 3 or 4 damage bonuses keyed off it or size. Had a crit threat that was pretty up there too. Honestly the reason I stopped playing pf was because I was tricked into playing 5e and I've never looked back.

one part of this reminded me of a WOW story: there's a skill one class can learn, i think its called "vengeance", which charges up energy when the character takes damage, then can be activated for a single powerful attack. BUT, the early version had NO LIMIT TO HOW MUCH ENERGY IT COULD HAVE! yes, a smart-alec player spent several hours poking monsters with daggers (he actually wore out several) to make them attack him, built up an absurd amount of energy, then used it to take down a "raid" boss, which normally takes a team of FORTY players! the GMs "nerfed" that ability after he posted a video showing his one-shot kill!

I am actually debating making my ranger into one, however the reliance on surprise has me iffy (although the party is sneaky in general, there's already enough stuff for the DM to worry about, I don't want to spoil anyones fun by constantly going "are they surprised?"), and the more I look at it, it seems like I could get more bang for my buck out of Favored Foe by going fighter, and focusing on making as many attacks in that first round of combat, and the barbarian can't always be taking the hits for the team (DM rationalizes who an enemy attacks based on who it sees as a greater threat, usually whoever hit it hard and is close). This plan should come online with Ranger (gloom) 6, Fighter (battle master) 4, in that first turn I can: apply Favored Foe (extra 1d6 on each attack I land on that creature without costing an action, uses concentration) on a target (aka some unlucky sod within 40 feet of movement), use Quick Toss maneuver to chuck a dart in his face as a bonus action after getting in range, then get within slapping range, then just take his ass to pound town with 2 regular attacks, then the Dread Ambush hit (which also has another 1d8 of damage), use action surge and smack em two more times (and another Dread Ambusher hit if the DM allows it...) for 6 attacks in one turn (7 if Dread Ambusher can be action surged), but we aint done! For the other two maneuvers I will get Bait and Switch, effectively allowing me to get a free boost to AC, and also grab Riposte, so when that poor sod attacks me and misses (I would have 20 plus 1d8 AC), I get another attack. In one round, at the cost of 3 superiority die, one Favored Foe, and my action surge, I can deal an average of, assuming all attacks hit: 110 damage. I can still add a Rogue Assassin dip to make em all guaranteed crits if the campaign goes that long, which would make a surprise round nova of... 172 damage, not counting sneak attack, but I will go fighter first.

Most powerful build I’ve ever seen was a barbarian mystic. I’m not sure what he took from mystic but I know he was a totem barbarian, and something from the mystic gave him regenerating temp hp. So at the beginning of combat he would activate his temp hp, and rage. Then he would have about 15 temp HP that was really 30 due to resistance. And every round he could bring the temp HP back up to full.

Homebrew subrace/backstory of the warforged; The shadowforged: an unholy concoction of Dwarvan mechanism and and Dark Elf necromancy. Imagine a mechanical body powered off the spirit of someone trapped in a soul gem (think Revenant in Apex). After several build sessions and compromise with my DM it became a near unstoppable killing machine with a nat AC of 20; no need to long rest; immune to slash weapons, poisons, charm, sleep, all elements but lightning; could never really die (lived on in the gem until the body was repaired); +2 strength and constitution, +1 Dexterity, -2 Charisma. Automatic start level of 3 rouge and 3 fighter. Additional roll advantages depending on player subclasses. I didn't expect the concept to play well but the party took to the character quick and loved the brooding violent psychopath I played it as. He kinda became the party pet project to try and turn good while using him as the go to tank or the silent first strike against most foes.

Most OP in 5e at level 3 in my experience was a Half-Orc with 1 level Barbarian and 2 levels Circle of the Moon Druid. I would turn into a raging giant spider. With two wildshapes @ 26 hp and damage reduction, I could soak up over 100 damage without losing any HP. My bite attack dealt 1d8+5 piercing + 2d8 poison damage. My ultimate move was the orbital drop. Turned into a giant spider, climbed a tower, then jumped onto an important enemy. We both took 20d6 bludgeoning, but when my Wildshape hit 0, my Half-Orc Relentless Endurance triggered and made its HP 1 instead. So my enemy exploded in a cloud of blood, and when the red mist faded I (had dropped my wildshape and) stood completely unharmed.

I some how made a level 19-20 rogue that is guaranteed a 27 in acrobatics, sleight of hand, and stealth and has basically no down sides! It's a wood elf with all ability score improvements are put in to grappler of a feat( change if you wish) and the rest going to dex, con and one to wis(this is with standard array with, in order if 15-8, dex, con, Str int and char are interchangeable, wis as to not have one be below 10) I used criminal/spy background just cause and put what equipment you want. I got this powerful by using expertise and having 20 dex. keep in mind that branching in to other classes in possible by changing the standard array around for more abilities but you will be sacrificing stroke of luck for it.

Aereni Wood-Elf Rogue, can take both skilled at lvl 8, and skill expert at lvl 4. At level 11, rogues gain reliable talent. Meaning your skill checks can't roll below a 10 if you have proficiency. This build gets you, 2 proficiencies from race, 4 from class, 2 from background, 1 from skill Expert, 3 from skilled for a total of 12 skills. 6 of those are expertise. Followed by a 3 level lore bard dip, and a 1 lvl Knowledge Domain cleric dip, you can get an additional 3 proficiencies, (4 of which Expertise, 3rd lvl bard and Blessings of knowledge) Meaning you have 18 skills proficiencies, 10 expertises. AKA all skills, and a majority expertises. You give something up in the combat-side of your character, but in exchange cannot fail anything out of combat. ANd because Rogue is a bit of a one-stat-class, you dont entirely suck in that either.

For the sorcerer paladin, that kind of damage just is not possible. To be able to smite as a paladin you must be 2nd lvl, meaning that at best the player could have 3 lvls of sorcerer at 5th lvl. Even with multiclassing spell slot rules they would only be up to a 4th lvl caster, what's more, they would only be able to cast quicken spell once per long rest. On a decisive round they could do, at best, 60 damage. That is still impressive, but a base paladin is also capable of doing 60 damage in a single round, and a sorcerer could do over 70. if we are talking about animate objects, that is at least 11th lvl.

About the Druid/Barbarian Build - Assuming is 5e DND, the numbers are exagerated. I´m currently playing this exact build and it IS very fun and tanky, BUT not exactly like that. First of it is not Polymorph that he used it is the Wild Shape feature (If it was the polymorph, he would lose concentration when raging - Major downside to this build). Assuming he chose the circle of the moon sub class like me, by 5th level he can only shape into CR 1 beasts. The typical brown bear has 34hp and does on average (if both attacks hit) 19 damage. If he chose Totem Warrior Barbarian at 3rd level as Primal Path and Bear Totem, he would have resistance to all damage except psychic while raging - and thats the beauty of this character. Dont get me wrong, it is a powerfull build, extremely fun and tanky but not exactly OP. Being a dinamic game not AI controlled, is is difficult to get aggro to you so that your party can dish the damage. Usually I use multiattack to hit several opponents to taunt then and my DM has been wonderfull in RPing this. The feroucious bear getting attention. Thats why it is so much fun. However dont expect your brwon bear to do much as levels get higher, ACs increase (Bear has only +5 to hit) and your 2d6+4 claw stops being relevant.

i have in my possession roughly 5 shelves worth of dnd 3.5 and 3.0 books to which i have read almost 2/3rd cover to cover, and continue to do so to this day. from this i have made 3 builds, each of which is more ridiculous than the last, the first two of which use WotC only books with the hard "dungeons and dragons" branding on the front. the first of which is what i call the "13 intelligence wizard" or for the more literal minded: 'the dagger mage'. this build should score you an average of 730 damage per full attack depending on your starting STR (and before you use all your buffs or highest tier magic weapons) almost all the good buff spells in dnd 3.5e are from 1-3 level wizard spells, so its 1 level of wizard 3 levels of rogue and 1 level of fighter (which you can skip if you are a human, but thats boring and not great for backstory writing so i made it a 11 plus racial intelligence grey elf [e.g. commonly intelligent]) then 3 pretige classes: invisible blade, master thrower, and abjurant champion. thats 5d6 sneak attack damage plus dagger plus strength times 8 with cleave you can even hit enemies in melee so long as the weapon returns to your hands after it deals ranged attack damage (yes the feat is actually written that way) when normalized for average critical success rate (which is 13-20x3 btw) even after you use magic items to bypass the free action limit (its 7 per turn for mere mortals) is not nearly enough, which is where the buffs come in handy. that abjurant champion gives you a caster level = to your base attack bonus (level - 2.. a low price to pay) allows you to cast scrolls of "time stop" and "bite of the werebear" (+16 strength among many other bonuses) without a failure chance, and a abjuration spell as a swift action every turn. even without armor or magic items your AC is in the high 30's by turn 3 and thats if you didnt precast the buff spells with 18 hour durations. even get a bonus melee attack (or two). i always keep an unseen sevant horde spell on this build cause its unrivaled for utility in and out of combat (fantastic for retrieving daggers with readied actions). this build however gets absolutely destroyed by the next build the "pure tank" build (it has no self healing and does not need it) step 1: be (good) incarnate step 2: take vow of poverty step 3: persuade your DM that tower shields are necessary equipment and then unironically dual wield them (you still get only a +4 bonus to AC and that is fine). tower shields are the strongest thing in the game that a level 1 character can have access to. there is very good reason that almost no shield feats also apply to tower shields, because every turn you dont make an attack you can give yourself or anyone adjacent 180* of total cover. for this you get 2 bonuses 1. a +8 to reflex saves (useful) and 2. you cannot be subject to attacks (this includes any spell that isnt an AoE spell). this is where you get into some trouble because tower shields dont have a lot of health and get destroyed pretty easy when enemies attack them (espcailly since you cant use magic ones). this is where you persuade your DM that pure incarnate builds are typically under the power curve and allow you 1 home brew soul meld: a tower shield made of incarnum. it doesnt matter what the esentia investment does or what its chakra binds are, all that matters is that incarnum is indestructible and that enemies can no only damage you or your party when you want them too. sure, your arms still take non-lethal damage for every time your shields get hit, but all NL damage is healed instantly with only 1 point of magical healing, and even if that werent the case, you can still take your entire health pool twice (once in non lethal and once in lethal) before going down, and considering that constitution is your primary stat that isnt happening any time soon. "but what about all non-damage effects". that is where steps 1 and 2 come in. the sheer synergy between incarnate class features and the vow of poverty is almost impossible to exaggerate. incarnate powers are mix and matchable, and situationally very strong, but require you to sacrifice magic item slots to get the most powerful chakra bind effects. vow of poverty gives you an entire set of magic item level stats and bonuses in exchange for losing your ability to use gold and magic items. most of these ability in both situations are immunities. its so many, so ill only name the biggest ones: evasion, immunity to enchantment and mind effecting effects, miss chance, and immunity to death. not the silly "deathwatch" kind either: if it says, "dies" anywhere in the ability, it straight up does not kill you no matter what (all other effects still apply [funny story about an incarnate with no bones actually, but not now]) the entire point of this build is for the DM to say: "you are now [insert effect here]" and then you to say: "im immune to that". so long as you know what your getting into before hand, there is nothing you cant almost fully play around. you can walk across lava for multiple rounds and be fine even (or just fly across) this last build is so broken, so monstrous that even attempting to describe it in detail makes me feel dirty. it is so powerful that is can full attack the last build from full health to 0 ignoring both 360* of total cover and total concealment. it requires only a single d20 brand supplement: "Mercenaries", mix that 3.0 with a little base class from 3.5 and it can kill basically anything with only minimal magical item supplement. even if it cant max to 0 health it in one turn its ability to gain total control of the battlefield with movement abilities and stacking attacks of opportunity and immunity to surprise attacks and a +10 bonus to attacks on that surprise round (yours, not its) plus 14 to initive not counting dex and massive bonus to AC on demand, ignores any AC bonus that isnt natrual armor or deflection bonus and the fact that is always threatens a critical on each hit, and deals no save con damage equal to STR on each crit make a build so powerful id only ever use it as a BBEG in campaigns. i simply refer to him as "bill".

Not necessarily OP, but certainly made the DMs a little frustrated. Currently Level 5 running a Sorcerer/Warlock build (not coffeelock, hadn't even realized that was a thing). One level of Sorcerer to get the ac boost from Draconic bloodline (13 + 4 dex unarmored), and then all the rest into hexblade/pact of the blade warlock. Using a rapier and shield, so my AC is 19. Bunch of spell slots to burn on mirror image and shield if anything does manage to hit me, as well as misty step for free movement. Invocations are Fiendish Vigor for 5-8 free temp hp in every encounter, and Improved Pact Weapon to make my rapier magical. Took Fighting Initiate feat at warlock 4, dueling fighting style to add another 2 damage on my rapier. Rapier has a +9 to hit, damage breakdown is 1d8+5(CHA)+2(Dueling)+1(Magic)+1d8(Green-Flame Blade). Going to be taking Thirsting blade next level for extra attack instead of using Green-Flame blade. TLDR: 'Squishy' caster is best tank in the party with AC of 19 (24 with shield), and does 2d8+8 melee damage with +9 to hit.

My level 8 fighter has 19Str from gloves (16 base), Feats of Polearm Mastery, Great Weapon Fighting, Sentinel, and Mobile and just destroys stuff with a homebrewed spear that I found that is basically+2 but 1d10 instead of 1d8 and a heavy spear that also does 2d6 damage to fiends and aberrations named Fantaroth the Demonslayer(I call it Red Fanta for short). My DM gave me the spear right as we hit level 6 when i prayed to St. Kuthbert to guide me through the darkness and to slay these Kopru in his name(my backstory said he was an atheist that had no need for the gods, but had been impressed by Kuthbert once before on his travels). He did not know that i was grabbing Great Weapon Fighting feat as well. I did 106 damage on my first round at level 6 and it was glorious. Since then he told me he was never gonna allow this combination again in his games, lol. I told him to just not allow Human Variant race for fighters and if some1 tries this sort of build that it at least won't come online until everyone else is pretty powerful. Thing is, next turn the Wizard did 138 damage with a fireball, but 106 single target damage vs aoe on 6 targets is a lot harder to account for. Yet he never said anything about not allowing Fireball in his games. :(
