My man! best necromancer definitely. You already know how to butcher to get nice clean none smelly skeletons and a good supply of food at the same time.

Lizardfolk are absolutely the best wizards. You get access to natural weapons and armor which is roughly equivalent to the dwarf and hobgoblin's weapon and armor training and can't be taken away. You also get a boost to con and temporary hit points for added staying power. And if you cast cold spells you get a lizard wizard blizzard.

@@VampguyN85 I am currently playing a wizard that started out as a Tortle Archaeologist (coward) he wound up dieing fairly heroically and the party as a joke brought him back using reincarnate rather than raise dead...so now he's a Fire Genasi and has gone a bit insane because he's constantly terrified from not having his shell

I play a Mountain Dwarf Warlock with spiked armour and a battleaxe. Devil Sight, Darkness cast on self and the battleaxe is an insane combo.

Try a Variant human divination wizard with lucky, at lvl 14 you have 3 portents, and if you are lucky all of those rolls are super low if you are going against a boss mob, since then you can force the boss to fail his save or burn all legendary resistances 😁

Hell yes! And take 3 levels of warlock for pact of the blade so you can vommit out a magic sword

Gandalf was a human who was a bearer of one of the missing elven rings (shown near end of the final movie). That ring gave him extreme longevity.

I once played a dual wield Fighter. Used a red D8 for one weapon and a black for the other. Black ended up saving the day when I was the only dude with a poison strong enough to kill the BBEG.

Yeah, I actually love the slightly & more "Out of the Box" Race/Class Combos. As far as the topic of the video, I honestly believe that it really depends on the Subclass the Wizard is going to go in, this of course would further depend on the Theme/Setting of the Campaign that the Player is playing in. Like Desert Setting/Desert World vs Water World where if the Campaign is set in either a Desert local or on a predominantly Desert World, then the Aquatic Races won't really be viable if acceptable where as if the Setting is taking place on a Water World [where the World is essentially covered in water, causing Deep Oceans for the most part. Here the Races that don't really breath underwater or are limited in holding their breath underwater would be living on floating "cities" or Ships, whereas the Races that are predominately underground (Deep Gnomes, Duegar, etc) might not be available. Of course it also depends on AL vs Non-AL & if the DM allows Flying at 1st Level [Aarakocra & Aven for example]. Cause with Abjurations, in my opinion, Races like Hobgoblin, Dwarfs, etc where they get additional Weapon &/or Armor Proficiency would be good at being Abjuration Wizards. Bugbears, though while they don't get a bump to Int, they are automatically proficient in Stealth as well as anytime they get the Surprise on a creature, the first Attack they connect with deal additional 2d6 damage [1/Combat]. Now that's ANY Attack, be it weapon, unarmed or spell, the 1st Attack the Bugbear hits if they get the Surprise on a creature deals +2d6 damage. So, if the Bugbear Wizard gets to be part of a Surprise Round, & unleashes a Spell like Burning Hands (where they take damage even on a Save, unless otherwise noted) or Chill Touch (Ranged Spell Attack) they'll role the Dice that they would normally role per the Spell + an additional 2d6. *Note it is the 1st Attack that hits during the Bugbear's 1st round of combat. And while School of Necromancy does get Resist to Necrotic at 10, I actually believe that Races that innately give Resist to Necrotic, do well in this Subclass. Conversely, and yes I know that the Nerdarchist stated that Gnomes (Rock) were adept at Wizardly all around, I fully believe that (IF the DM allows it) that Rock Gnomes would be exceptionally perfect for the School of Invention, especially if the DM allows for the Rock Gnome to be able to Tinker stuff beyond what is listed for their Racial Ability as well as allow the Invention Wizard to create stuff beyond what shown for their Subclass, because if I was the DM of said Rock Gnome Invention Wizard, I would allow [with varying DC's] them to Tinker Stuff while incorporating Spells into it. Such as a Rock Gnome could create a Music Box and incorporate a Charm Spell, or Suggestion (Dance while the music is playing -- Sleep while the Music is Playing) Spells; or create a Clockwork Dragon that has Magic infused to allow it to breath fire/lightning/acid/etc or a Toy Soldier that has a miniature flame thrower; Heck, I would even allow the Rock Gnome Invention Wizard, with a relatively high DC (~20+), to infuse enough Magic to bring the Clockwork Creation to sentience & become like a Familiar, with the Wizard being able to Expend 1 Spell Slot to aid in lowering the DC. With the DC getting lowered by Spell Slot Level + Wizard Level, if they expend 1 Spell Slot. Though, I'm surprised that you guys (Nerdarchy) didn't mention that with Tiefling, the Spells that they get innately, are Charisma based. Also, Crossbow Expert is also good for Wizards (& Spellcasters in general) because it eliminates the Disadvantage that the Spellcaster would get for hitting a Target within 5' with a Ranged Spell [Crossbow Expert: Being within 5 feet of a hostile creature doesn't impose disadvantage on your ranged attack rolls.]

Yeah Dave, that's one of the things that I love about the crossbow expert feat as it pairs well with spell sniper/sharpshooter & pretty much anyone that deals with ranged attacks. Hobgoblin anything can be fun especially from RP stand points, in the same way that Goblin & Bugbears can as they've typically been NPC's in the past and (tmk) only recently been made playable (outside of homebrew). Also I know that your guy's theory craft videos are more mechanic based, which is beautiful as it allows your fans to help expand on things that might've been missed in the video or accidentally overlooked.

Rather interesting and fun. The martial aspect lets me play a war wizard basically. Different play style to the stock standard wizard who fireballs from the back row. I get to be all up in yo bidness!

@@Nerdarchy Shame. Still, they work somewhat similar to the Rock Gnome if you're using point buy, so.. Nothing lost in that regard. Related note: I totally statted out a Rock Gnome War Wizard in Heavy Armor. You guys may or may not have inspired me to finally put the character idea to paper. Or PDF, as the case may be, but you get what I mean, right?
