Combining the Yuan-Ti's incredibly powerful natural abilities, with the fact their race can live for 1,000 years, I have to wonder what reason people would have for NOT converting to the worship of the evil snake gods? They sound like very generous deities!

Idk man. They seem fine. Poison immunity is okay since poison doesn't come up nearly as much as it could. Magic resistance is also very, very strong but DMs rely on magic far too much at higher levels. If a DM is struggling with a PC build, then the DM isn't DMing right.

Yuan-Ti Pureblood Rune Knight. She has twisted and corrupted the rune knight's abilities to help her attain a pseudo-Anathema form. Whenever she uses Giant Might, instead of just becoming larger, she becomes a Yuan-ti Abomination (in form only). She still uses her regular abilities and only gains the benefits of the Giant Might feature, but appears as an Abomination. Later at level 18 when using the Runic Juggernaut ability, she becomes a Yuan-Ti Anathema (again in appearance only). All the runes have been corrupted as well. It's a cool theme that makes tons of sense for a pureblood trying to achieve their racial goal of becoming more like their god. She also tries to find magic items and equipment that allow her to better simulate her Abomination and Anathema forms (anything that does poison damage, etc).

+1 bonus point for not hissing subscribe. Also, they are powerful, seems like a cool race, might need a bit of nerfing. Languages not that big of a deal, imho, but poison immune should be turned to getting advantage against poison. Not sure what to do with magic resistance, though.

I mean if you're going to be a close minded DM...which I've been seeing more and more fine don't use them. I personally say embrace it and you'll find it interesting to have them around. You can make a backstory easily for this...whenever you're doing your story you're going against norms....why? Because if you're normal you wouldn't be who this story was about. Going against the grain is something many do...or they embrace the emotionless part since they simply don't like to RP as much as the people who run Bards for example. They don't want to be the face. With Tasha's customizing option you can make all sorts of different kinds of snake people too...who says they all believe the same?

A Yuan-Ti Pureblood would fit right at home in Theros, as one of Pharika’s Champions. I just created a Yuan-Ti as a Circle of Spores Druid to be the villain of this adventure.

I currently have a Yuan-ti rouge that is chaotic good. His little backstory is that he was mistreated by every other Yuan-ti in his home, causing him to hate snake people and being more trusting of humans, dwarves, elves, etc. He is good to other races, chaotic to snake people

My favourite class to play as a Yuan-ti is sorcerer subclass aberrant mind not only does this subclass fits lore wise but it works really well for social activities and you can control the battlefield if you build it right I am playing as a Yuan-ti aberrant mind sorcerer in a Dragon Heist campaign

I make characters in my spare time and haven’t even played a single game yet, so if I do play this character, it will probably be in a few years. My idea is a Great Old One warlock. A human astronomer who made some kind of discovery about Dendar and some stars. They fell asleep and woke up as a yuan-ti. They are now running from a yuan-ti cult, who Dendar has commanded to turn them into a yuan-ti abomination. They believe that if they succeed, they will become the cult’s new leader. I’m probably going to use them as a backup character for Tomb of Annihilation.

About to play a yuan-ti pure blood way of the drunken master monk. Her name is Aribys. She’s lawful evil, and she uses her charming and deceit to get her way with men of power. She’s ruled by only one guiding principle that she is not to deceive or manipulate humble people. I think I'm about to play a Yuan-Ti bard, school of glamour, I have two options but I don't know with what to go: - Acolyte who worships Eilistraee. (I think Eilistraee would be fine with Yuan-tis who want to change. And both drow and yuan-ti have cultural similarities) - Spy Legal-Evil. This wouldn't be a problem with the rest of the party. With this character I would be evil mainly because I would be coldly logical and utilitarian. Which would mean that while I would still be fighting for the greater good I would do it by "whatever means necessary", something that most of the times would make the rest of the players think: "This is bad but she has a point." For example I could suggest the idea of using innocent people as a distraction just to get a better oportunity to sneak in a fortress. My course of action will be to NEVER force my decissions on the party, or play against them, and to always do what most of the players agree to do. However I will slowly lower the moral bar of what the party deems as acceptable by givin evil solutions for the problems. The moment they "sin" once it will be easier to make them "sin" twice.

Yuan-Ti either type: found by a cleric after a battle where your family is killed. Your character was very young and raised by this kind stranger (think 6 month old baby in human growth/development) Your Yuan-Ti wouldn’t have the magical resistance or poison immunity yet (The weird snake god dedication ceremony never took place) they wouldn’t speak snake languages. Alignment is however your character was raised to match your background. Innate spell casting can be removed because of in your background you missed the snake ritual. Poison resistance is a no brainer, but not immunity. - You could have been treated kindly, cruelly, suspiciously, or trained to be a loyal discreet servant to any political, clerical, or world powers. Yuan-Ti (like I suggest) Eloquence Bard would be awesome.

Created one but have yet to use it, a Yuan-Ti barbarian with Royalty/Soldier Background with Freiza like personality She is a Princess First Born to Anathema Farther and is practically a prodigy. However, she was Born pureblood and nearly Human-like while her brothers and sister came out half-bloods with the youngest a pure abomination and despite being a prodigy and having strong stats for a pc she is still the Runt in the family. Due to This, She was denied some higher privilege of becoming a Priest or a General in her father's armies and kingdom or the Next Ruler a future title granted to the late-born brother since he came out an abomination. at best of leniency the highest she ever granted was being an elite bodyguard under the command of one of her siblings. Growing up and desiring these titles and birthright but being denied them while being ordered around and mocked by her younger siblings, gave her certain emotions, that of Jealously which Grew into Anger, She hates how her younger siblings are given these titles and despite being firstborn the first to hatch the youngest is given the title of a future king and is stronger and more blessed than her. Her main goal to overthrow her siblings and prove herself worthy as a future successor and surpass her Farther, So she slowly trying work out how she can Reach the top. depending on the campaign the main Reason for her joining a campaign would be because a Sibling ordered her to gather more intel on a place or send her on a mission they believe is suicide and would get rid of Her.

Yuan - Ti pureblood prince that was twisted by a powerful dark majic mask that gave his powerhunger something to eat, but wont come off, drove him crazy and is now call the Laugh Yaun - Ti. Is hated by all other races even his own, Has a lil Yuan ti sidekick that has influenced her to show emotions again as his power is exciting yet intimidating. He's Chaotic Evil and actually wants to watch all the world burn for his hatred of hipocratic stabile society. Even his Yuanti family.

I never understood the purpose of banning races. Because 1 Flavor is free so anything not present in the world built can be flavored as something that is. Your Aarokocra Rogue could be a Human with an Icarus like contraption stuck to their body. Additionally this one race is not winning any awards for anything. Until Monsters of the Multiverse their innate spells were CHA only. And on top of that Poison is not something anyone I've seen realistically put to half decent use. It's the worst damage type by far and the only consistent way to use poison is to fork over tonnes of gp or become a spellcaster and look for the few poison spells. Magic Resistance is only really comes up at higher levels and when fighting enemies with a very specific type of saving throw. Spell or Magical effect. However very few creatures that can innately force a Saving Throw don't trigger the Magic Resistance trait unless your DM is lenient. As I can only remember one creature that is able to trigger it and that is the charm of the Succubus. I'm not sure if DM's knew this, but Magic saving throws are rare unless you decide that every enemy is a spellcaster.

- S'satla was transformed into a brutally evil and unfeeling Yuan-ti Pureblood in the Yuan-ti temple to Zehir on the isle of Urukaxyl (below Wildemount). She does not remember her life before as a human, though very occasionally brief glimpses of a past life come to her in dreams. - She spent several years capturing (or when unable) murdering hundreds of people (it's what Yuan-ti do to further their diabolical schemes!) - Traces of a very strange emotion started surfacing. She began having feelings of... 'deep fondness' for another pureblood, Talesh, and these feelings grew and grew the more time they spent together. - This became apparent to the Yuan-ti, so to keep the clan pure they were apprehended and were to be transformed yet again, this time into Broodguards. - They escaped, well... S'satla did. As they attempted to get away Talesh was recaptured, but S'satla continued racing through the temple, leaving Talesh behind to die screaming as she was eaten alive by the Yuan-ti! - Fleeing, she ended up in what looked like a treasure room. She searched for weapons or anything to help her fight her way out. She came across a strange item, an almost fist-sized snake skull with a blue glass vial wedged in its open jaw. There were a couple of words inscribed upon the top of the skull, Alhawa Walsama. Mouthing it as she read it a whirlwind formed then a large figure coalesced, a blue man of hulking proportions with the whirlwind where his legs ought to be! She pleaded with him that she would be forever in his debt if he would help her escape. He agreed, but only if she would in turn release him from his own prison. Contract made, he bestowed a small portion of his power to her. He also picked up a nearby staff and instructed her that when she needed further aid she was to say its name, Yaotl, then toss it on the ground. He then left, slashing with his great scimitar, clearing a path for her in his wake. - S'satla made it out of the temple and fled into the jungle. After several days of wandering she made it to the North shore of the island. With no way off the island, she threw down the staff and commanded Yaotl to live. The staff grew into a HUGE constrictor snake. She leapt onto it, wrapped her arms and legs around it and commanded it to swim North. It took almost 5 days for Yaotl to reach the shore of the southern tip of Wildemount, an almost dead S'satla was clenched in his mouth… - The transformation to Yuan-ti had corrupted not only her body, but also her mind and soul. So: - She is constantly battling the pure cold evil that is inherent to her current nature. - She is almost incapable of feeling emotions, though fear & guilt had begun to manifest... and, of course, those sensations (which she doesn't understand) that resulted in her being discovered by the Yuan-ti; feelings of longing and heartache for Talesh. - She's quite ashamed (an emotion close to guilt) at what she did to Talesh and, of course, to all those other innocents she outright murdered or, worse, delivered to the Yuan-ti for transformation or sacrifice. - She now spends her life atoning for her past deeds, mostly as an Urban Bounty Hunter tracking down missing people or just criminals.

Example for a good one... They may have a birth defect resulting in inheritence of more genes of whatever other race the parents were resulting in a brain capable of emotion. Note im sure someone else probably has said this or even commmented but im to lazy to check.

Building a Yuan Ti Fathomless Warlock with the tentacles reflavored as snakes. Getting around being too powerful to be allowed by using the new Multiverse variant, and justifying that with the backstory of: Kidnapped with intent to be converted, conversion didn't take properly due to interference from a sea serpent patron(establishing the Warlock thing, patron is further justified with a Fisherman background), am now a "lesser" pureblood with a Kamen Rider level desire to destroy the Yuan Ti's machinations. This dodges all of the major sticking points against playing one, but still allows the powerful and evil varieties to be enemies.
