Problem with necromancy is the playing around with the dead body/soul of someone else and often enough gods(!) don't like that. If you do the Wonder Woman thing by creating a human out of clay or whatever, this whole corrupting a corpse thing doesn't take place.

But thats still wrong 🤷‍♂️ Should be equal. Either they get access to summon human as a spell, nobody gets summon anything. Only reason be "taboo" is because the caster is also human. As for necro, have signed legal documentation for use of corpse and/souls, in all cases, to be safe. I've noticed necros get hate across the board, no matter the species/race or caster but if a non necro uses one of the necro spells, no biggie. @@miriamweller812

​@@miriamweller812Look. My Cleric of Law has two Clay Golems guarding his Chapel. And if you dare say he is breaking the law. He will ask you to show him the written law. Then, he ends up overruling it. As his Church Law trumps any kingdom's law. And the Church states it is not illegal to have Clay Golems guarding. Though it is totally unfair. But the Scales must he balanced and evil outweighs the good. So the Golems STAY! *coughs*...sorry....I really loved that character.

This is fantastic. Or it just summons like Steve from Accounting. He's got basic stats, he's not violent or a horror of mismatched limbs. But it's just your average peon/npc kind of person. Conjure Steve. The most generic, bland, forgettable version of a guy you can get.

What would the max level version be like?

Tbh necromancy canonically forces a beings soul back into its body against its will and forces it to obey you, and they turn on you if you don't recast the spell on them every 24 hours. Which is why it's considered an evil skill regardless of the reasons it's used.

Necromancy's "animate dead"(and "create undead") takes negitive energy and shoves it into a corpse to puppet it, and the evil nature of the resulting creation comes from the fact that its a barely sapient(or intelligent for create undead) being made of the antithesis of life. Higher level Necromancy, like Raise dead and true resurrection, actually does interact with the soul, and can return it to the body _providing it is willing and at liberty of doing so._ Why would a low level magic be able to defy the gods and the soul's will, but highest level if magic not? And then there is Speak with dead, which still does not rip the person's soul from the afterlife, but rather reinvigorates their the animating spirit of the body, which is still in the body, and specifically says that it cannot return the creatures soul back. So no, Necromancy does not use the person's soul to make a zombie. Literally every deity would object to their workforce being able to be so casually stolen. I mean the cosmic forces are literally at war to convert souls to their side, if the 9 hells could rip the blessed from the heavens and force them to be soldiers their blood war... they would do so in an instant.

Honestly, Necromancy is like three different schools of magic in a trench coat masquerading as one. Transmutation: Create Undead/Animate Dead. You are turning a corpse into a shambling puppet, similar to how Animate Objects gives the semblance of life to random objects. Conjuration: Spirit Shroud/Summon Undead. You call forth spirits from an otherworldly realm. The realm of the dead, yes, but it's still an extraplanar realm. Evocation: Ray of Sickness/Blight. Literally channeling necrotic energies directly into your enemies. Conclusion: Necromancy is just a wizard theme, like making a pyromancy or cryomancy wizard who takes fire or ice spells regardless of spell school.

Funny enough, there’s three separate spells for that in 5E that do different things. - Animate Dead: Reanimating a corpse - Create Undead: Make a more monstrous undead from one or more corpses - Summon Undead: Make a summoned spirit temporarily that is undead.
