The Myths: 1st Myth: 04:15. It is possible to plan and schedule the creation of your game. 2nd Myth: 08:46 Working productively means throwing out nothing. 3rd Myth: 15:24. Cutting edge technology is very important, so build your own technology first. 4th Myth: 18:19. Frequent project review is essential to good management. 5th Myth: 21:38. Alpha = First Playable. 6th Myth: 26:50. A cancelled project is a sign of bad management or a bad team. 7th Myth: 28:54. The more defined your initial vision, the better. // I need a 100-page document describing my game. 8th Myth: 37:13. If you want to make a hit, listen to the customer. Thanks, Mr. Cerny!

I think he's on the right path, but, personally, I think his choice of the word "pre-production" is strange. "Pre-production" implies getting your ideas together and assembling a team. Once a team is working, it's all "production" in my mind. Not to get hung up on symantics -- who cares, really, but I would perhaps call it the "prototyping" phase.

@TheSean94
@TheSean94 8 жыл бұрын
+adrixshadow This is an old method of software development. It was at the beginning of the agile method and he is talking about the waterfall method which is not used as much nowadays. Developers mostly use agile approach now as they have to meet milestones for the project manager and if something goes wrong they can simply revert back to a previous state of the game and try new things on the fly. Waterfall approach is for people who know exactly what they want the end goal to be.
@adrixshadow
@adrixshadow 8 жыл бұрын
Sean O' Connor That is not even remotely the same. It is not that complicated at all. Have a dedicated team on prototype and research duty before they sink millions of dollars in content. There has barely been any new IP in ages and whatever new IP was trash. Whatever they are using it is not this.
