That's a sweet old D4....Just loop a hyd hose on your cooler lines, that was the common fix I've seen..... That PTO is worth a pretty penny, kind of rare...I just about cry to see that old stuff going for scrap, Nice save. Thanks Tom.

That is the focus of my whole KZfaq channel. Trying to keep this old equipment out of the scrap yards. It deserves to be saved just for the history

I am anxious as well. It seems like I keep having other projects pull me away from it

Good for you I feel the same way you do about a lot of old equipment going to the shredder! But you really scored a deal on that cat and I was amazed that it was seized because usually when engines seize you can get them loose again but In most cases all or most of the rings seize into the piston well in both cases the pony and the horse ran so nice there doesn’t seem to be any problems with either but I think that machine couldn’t be at a better home 😀🇨🇦

Luckily we live in a very dry climate around here so if you can keep the water on the outside of the motor you're usually okay. It's just when they sit for 40 years. You have problems. I know people in wet climates can have problems a lot quicker than that with the motors freezing up

You need to tell the story of how you pull started it for the first time!

It will make a great power unit for the mill. Exhaust should be much easier to listen to than say a 2 stroke Detroit or a smaller faster turning gas engine.

A muffler might help as well, but I think that most of these old cats always came with a straight pipe if I'm not mistaken. At least I've seen a lot of them without mufflers.

@@tractorrescueranch3682 what year is your D4? It will make an excellent power unit for the sawmill!
