Күн бұрынThis is my Jack Sparrow's ''magical'' COMPASS movie prop replica from Pirates of the Caribbean. Unlike an ordinary compass, Jack's compass points to what the owner wants most, rather than mere magnetic north.

This build is absolutely phenomenal! My favorite part of it is how "real" it turns out, meaning wood, metal, etc. This must be a terrific piece to handle. I've been thinking about resin printing one and finishing it but it won't be this epic.

It helps when you have all these fancy tools. :) I've built mine with just some hand tools and and like yours all is made of wood, including the center part. But yours is the best I've seen! Thanks for sharing! Subscribed!

Hahahaha! I bought these from a guy who had a full collection. They were all scrap compasses. Mostly for parts :)

Thanks! First time someone calls me DB! I kind of like this. 🤪 Any resin will do. I used clear resin from amazon for dye resin powder.

I had to ask, I’ve been doing a lot of 3D printing lately on my channel though I feel the same as you do from your Indiana Tablet video, I want my props to be heavy and more realistic so I want to start using more resin to add weight. Again great video, I’m gonna definitely be watch the rest of them! :D

Thanks a lot! Je suis francophone aussi alors on va simplifier le tout ;) Je crois que le bois était du peuplier. Pour l'épaisseur, il y a un lien pour le plan dans la description. J'ai par la suite simplement empilé quelques épaisseurs pour atteindre le résultat. Effectivement, a part la portion métal, le reste n'est que temps et patience :) Bonne chance!

@@DaBuild J'ai récupéré le BluePrint dans la description mais je n'arrive pas à m'en servir, non pas à cause des mesures mis en inch, mais je ne trouve pas quel mesure correspond à quoi. Existe t'il un schéma plus clair ou alors un site pour apprendre à lire les blueprint?

what would be needed to make it work like for real, not to find what i desire of course, but to make it point north?

Good question. I believe the brass mechanism in the middle is simple to heavy to make this work for real. A real compass needle is extremely light.
