Dace Fishing On The River Tyne

In this edition of Cadence Fishing TV, James Robbins heads to the River Tyne, near Hexham. The Tyne is renowned for its salmon and sea trout fishing, but it also has some excellent coarse fishing too. James recently fished a Riverfest Qualifier on this stretch and he was impressed with the quality and size of the dace he caught. This wild and unpredictable river can produce big shoals of dace and with the occasional chub caught, it can produce big weights up to 60lbs. This video is a fantastic insight into how a top match angler copes with a strong downstream wind when fishing with the waggler. This channel puts up some really quality content. Although they use some high end quality gear and expert tactics it seems very accessible and relatable to the average angler. Especially the river float videos. I always learn a lot and above all enjoy watching.

Lived on the banks of the Tyne for over 20 years when I lived up there, never thought about trotting a float always fished for Salmon, boy I have missed out on some great fishing

I used to fish the Tyne for dace a lot in my youth. That was about 40 years ago, I need to get back to my roots :-) Really enjoyed the video.

Really nice to see you fishing the northern systems for dace and roach........tonnes of potential at the moment. Had a day on the Clyde with over 30lbs of dace on the long rod and bolo and a stick day on roach with hemp n tare for about 40Lbs..........some lovely fish to 1lb: 10oz so some good fish about. The cormmernts lash this area during the winter so the sholes get spooked and the depths downstream hold the majority of the fish but this time of year is amazing on wag and bolo up to 7/9 foot depth.......caster or tare in good conditions or wag n mag on windy days brings good results...........the locals are usually stunned lol

Great catch of fine dace James. Cadence video's are by far the best on KZfaq. Its a pleasure to watch them, great fishing and wonderful camera work. Keep up the superb content guys. Tight lines

James ( cadence) don’t forget that there is two other good rivers between the Swale and the Tyne for the dace ie the tees n the wear ( record fish from wear👍👍)

Found dropping the hook down to a 22 kamasan 5/11 helps with wild venues .......No 10 propper with 8s strung out above .........float size for conditions although the bolo is king usually.........The cadence 15ft 1 is so soft but direct for this even in wind.

Excellent video. Great to hear James working out his approach. We're still getting goods bags of dace on the Forth, btw, and other venues nearby are producing large nets of quality roach.

Do Cadence have any plans to make game rods and reels? I remember James demonstrating Trout rods for Pure Fishing / Shakespeare, always good video's. First time I've seen a fishing video of the Tyne :)

Hi Neil, I use 3lb Pro Gold for most of my float fishing (0.17mm).

Is it club water or free fishing, I'm a coarse fishermen and not long moved up to Throckley from Hertfordshire, have fished Whittle Dene and looking for some River fishing , Kind Regds Clive 🎣🎣🎣
