The girl singing on the song was just walking by when they were on a smoke break and she asked what they were doing and they told her they were in the studio making this song and she said she knows how to sing. They were singing the songs themselves on the original version. They brought her to Eazy-E and he told her get in there and the rest is history.

Here's a bit of information to help inform you guys: Bone Thugs-N-Harmony is a Grammy and American Music Award winning group that consists of 5 members (Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, Flesh Bone). They're from Cleveland, but relocated to Los Angeles as teenagers in 1993, and several months later, signed to Ruthless Records, the legendary Hip Hop record label of legendary West Coast rapper and CEO, Eazy-E (of NWA). BTNH had West Coast production (Kai noticed this) because the producers they exclusively worked with were all Los Angeles/California based, and part of the same label as Bone. Eazy, their mentor, unexpectedly passed away in 1995 from Aids. "Tha Crossroads" (actually a remix of their 1995 record, simply titled, "Crossroads") was their Grammy Award winning record released in 1996, and dedicated to him, along with several loved ones who had also recently passed.. (not sure if this was mentioned to you guys during "Tha Crossroads" reaction). Tupac stated that the original Crossroads got him through tough times during prison. He and Bone later bonded soon after his release. Bone, for the most part, lived their early years in Cleveland, and spent their adulthood in Los Angeles. They're often listed as "West Coast Rap", just as much as "Midwest Rap", by fan location, in large part due to their affiliation and production sound. The group is considered by many to be the greatest, or one of the greatest, and most influential Hip-Hop groups of all time (as well as one of the highest selling). Their first major label release was a breakout EP in 1994, titled "Creepin On Ah Come Up". In 1995, their most critically acclaimed and successful album, E.1999 Eternal, was released. In 1997, The Art of War..(which was also highly successful). Several members also had successful solo careers in the 90s and 2000, apart from the group. Bone Thugs are credited as being the most recognizable and significant pioneers of fast rap (considered to be the masters of it, along with Twista), as well as harmonizing, melodic/rappers singing in songs. Back then, it wasn't exactly "cool" to do, until they popularized it. It made Hip Hop critics become less critical of the unconventional, less traditional sound in our culture, and opened the doors for exploration in the following years. Innovation. Prior to the 2000s, you had to have your own style and sound to be taken seriously within the culture, which is why the group is considered to be so integral in how music has been shaped over time. In the mid 90s, they were widely known for their dark, violent imagery. It began to shift a bit during the late 90s, well into the 2000s. Understandably, the members evolved and matured throughout the years, as a result, their sound became much lighter and not as gritty as their golden age sound of the 90s. That's not to say great records weren't made by them in the 2000s, but it was definitely a different era for the group. To sum it up, Bone's influence has played a significant part in the sound of music today. The group not only helped shift and innovate the sound of Rap, but also R&B. Their image and musical influence inspired so many artists, including Drake, Kendrick, Kid Cudi, ASAP Mob, J Cole, Wiz Khalifa (Wiz even has the members of Bone tattooed on him). The intricacies and complexities of their style is one of a kind. Many artists today now "rap fast", but Bone was much more than that, which is why the group often stood out above the rest. Side note: Flesh Bone (aka Flesh-N-Bone) may not be on every song or artwork due to several legal issues, coupled with hesitation by their record label, which kept him off several records during the 90s, as well as the 2000s.

They werent that huge in USA, but they were absolutely ENORMOUS around the world instead.. this is also why you got so surprised why people suddenly started swarming you for more Bone. The song was produced by DJ U-Neek who is from Los Angeles which is why the beat is G-Funk-esque. BTNH are from Cleveland. As others have pointed out BTNH are the last group to record songs with the 3 hiphop legends before they died. Eazy-E in a song titled "For The Love of $", Tupac in a song titled "Thug Luv", and Notorious BIG in a song titled "Notorious Thugz". Also, the person rapping the last verse is named Bizzy Bone, hands down the best one in the group as far as lyrical skill and speed rapping in the group goes, which is not to say any of the rest are bad at all. I think your dad would really enjoy learning a bit of Bizzy Bone's story and background growing up and what he's been through and you can find that by searching "Bizzy Bone on America's Most Wanted". Also, I think I mentioned this on the last video, but some other great BTNH songs for you and your dad to listen to are "Dayz Of Our Lives" which was on the soundtrack for the film Set It Off starring another rap artist y'all have reacted to, Queen Latifah (great film btw and I highly recommend giving it a watch). Dayz Of Our Lives has that vocal harmony that your dad was talking about from Tha Crossroads. "1st Of Tha Month" is a classic, but I do believe there are a lot better BTNH songs out there. If you don't mind their religious topics in their rap then I highly recommend the song "Order My Steps" which was off of their Strength & Loyalty album. Also, the song "I Tried" featuring Akon which they won a Grammy award for. The song "Take Me Home" featuring the always awesome Phil Collins (yes, the same Phil Collins who sings In The Air Tonight lol). There's also the song "Flowmotion" which is a song about how at the beginning of their rap career no one really wanted to work with them and they got passed up a lot, but after they got fame and won their first Grammy those same people are begging to work with them. There's also the different members solo albums which are all really good as well, but one I think you and your dad would really like and appreciate is Bizzy Bone, Bizzy has such a unique story and has struggled all of his life ever since childhood. A couple of Bizzy Bone songs I recommend are "Thugz Cry" (his most popular and known song) and the song "Nobody Can Stop Me" which is a song about growing up in an abusive home and probably the most heartfelt song out of anyone in the entire group. I could literally go on and on, but I think I'll stop here and leave y'all with that and a like. I really appreciate your guy's reaction.

Believe it or not I am a 57 year old woman with a 35 year old son and 30 year old daughter, 6 grandbabies and I love Bone thugs and Harmony, sounds weird right? I was 30 when this came out. I still love alot of what my kids grew up listening to.

This is gonna be good. This song is the song that introduced Hip Hop and the world to Bone Thugs n Harmony. This takes me back to the summer of ‘94 when I was 16. You heard this song banging out the trunks of so many cars in my city. This whole album actually. Bone’s first two albums are their best IMO. Certified classics that can be played straight through with no skips. Some songs might have more playability but nothing gets skipped on those two albums.

I'm grateful my parents were in their early 20s in the 90s. I grew up with this music always playing in the background.

They took a 1 way bus trip to la from Cleveland. Got ruthless records number and didn't stop calling until eazy called them back. The rest is history. Such a complex group full of complex members with a style, and slang of their own. Got in dispute with eazys widow and broke off on their own. They get distribution deals, but they control themselves today.

I still remember the first time I heard this, watching Rap City on BET after school. Was so blown away by it that I didn't eat lunch for two weeks at school so I could squirrel away my lunch money to finally go buy the tape. One of the hardest songs to come out in the 90s and pretty soon you'd hear every car in the neighborhood bumping this song and album. So thankful to Eazy E for finding these guys and putting them on.

You ever thought about doing a reaction to The Message by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five? I think it's probably the first hardcore hip hop song ever released, way back in 1982, but it has aged like a bottle of Dom. Still an amazing track 40 years later. YES! I got so exited when I saw this pop up. Bone Thugs are my favorite (besides Tupac). I’ve been a fan of theirs literally since this song came out. So 30 years. My brother and I manifested hanging with them. We started out going to their shows and getting back stage or invited to hotel room. We have hung out with them in different parts of PA and OH, Cali. We ended up flying out to LA twice (from Pittsburgh) to be part of a “Think Tank” they did it their UNI 5: The Worlds Enemy album when Flesh got out of jail after 10 years being in. We have chilled with a couple members on their block they grew up (E99/St Clair). We’ve been to over 25 shows. There is absolutely no one like them and never will be. Not only is their music amazing but they’re the most humble down to earth people. And 97% of their affiliates/artists are too. We played Crossroads at 2 funerals. I held up my buddy’s obituary at a show (we were front row) and Wish Bone saw it, grab it, and held it up while they performed Crossroads. This was back when we used disposable cameras and I ran outta film :/. BUT the 2nd time we did it.. Layzie held it up. I got a pic. When I developed the pictures it shows what looks to be a spirit in front of Layzie. I wish I could post the pic on here for you to see. It’s wild. we were smoking cigs/bud the whole time and NO other picture had this in it. I blew the pic up and had all 5 sign it. I gave Layzie a copy of it. He said “man that gave me chills.” We’ve had so many amazing times and memories with these guys. Their fan base is a big loyal group. I literally stay in touch with probably 30 of their most loyal fans we met at the Think Tanks. Their music has helped so many lives. They created their own path in the music industry. As you guys noticed there, no one else sounds like them. There have been many who have tried. They really created something that many many artists have tried to duplicat in some way or another. But never came close to being as original. You can hear it on some of the radio even today. They’re the only artists to work with Pac, Big, Easy E, Big Pun. Not to mention countless other amazing artists. After the 2 reaction videos I have NO doubt you and your dad will love the rest of their music. PLEASE do more BTNH in the future. I could name a ton of songs (already did in your Crossroad video lol) but please listen to 1. Dayz Of Our Lives. 2. Kai, you got it right, this was definitely influenced by the West Coast sound of the time which was mostly someone playing synths on a keyboard and/or beat machine. Even when melodies from classic songs were incorporated, many times they were played by the producer themselves. Y’all’s reaction to how different they were and are is about how this hit the scene at the time. Bone Thugs were almost always an instant hit with those who heard them.

Their discography includes a collaboration with Phil Collins - "Home" and a venture into gospel with Yolanda Adams - "Order My Steps (Dear Lord)" You should react to those just to get a feel for the range of their talent.
