Dad, you did great, full stop. I know it's hard, but based on what you kindly show us in your videos you are killing it every single day. Full disclosure: I'm about your and your wife's age and was just recently assessed and identified by a psychologist as autistic. It's been a wild ride trying to figure all this out. My presentation had a lot in common with Simon's, and my autism wasn't picked up on back then. Watching your family's videos has been therapeutic for me. It reminds me of the hard work my parents did for me and my siblings and how they found ways to accommodate my different needs even without any diagnosis or support. It was tough, but they killed it just like you're doing. Never doubt that your children love you and appreciate everything you do, and thank you for sharing your family's story with the world.

I was wondering if Ezra could learn some lessons, ABCs, etc, musically. He could listen to music through headphones. He may even learn to sing some phrases, or repeat songs, since I believe singing is in a separate part of the brain from speech. You have a lovely family. ❤️😊

Ezra does love his dad, he gives him comfort, and maybe a feeling of being more complete? and i guess that is why he can stay calm today, i can never stand being in walmart kind of places for longtime. He was sitting at his seat calmly too, while he drives and even looking to the camera directly - the camera was set towards left that we were seing more the window instead of Ezra, most of the time- . He does have an ironic smile and look, like he feels his intelligence is underestimated because of his handycaps. And i really appreciate you; Marie, how you are willingly the small mom of the big family, you have a precious hearth. In my religion, bringing up a girl well taken care and well educated opens up the door of the heavens. And you should be always equal between your kids, whom you have actually been barrowed by the creator and they are your tests to pass in this earthly life... but if you ever would need to be in favour of one, between your kids, it should be the girl... Marie, please say hello to Ezra too, when you get in the car for example, he would appreciate it.. Sorry for my preach, since you have broadcasted public, and i happened to watch it.; Thanks for making and sharing it.

I'm more like Simon, it got really easy for me to hide my stimming and personal needs by controlling when and how people saw me. I didn't even know I was doing it. In some ways it seemed like I was doing better, but I needed to be honest with myself and others about my own needs in order to function enough to get by. It might seem easier as an adult to just hide or skip a complicated social situation but its terrible eventually. I haven't got it right yet, but I try to show a certain amount of my stimming and other behaviors so I'm comfortable and also people can get accustomed to who I am in an appropriate way

Some random notes about what I saw in this video: 1. About jealousy It looks like both Ezra and Simon are able to experience jealousy. My sister is level one like Simon and she also began to experience jealousy around his age (she is in her fifties now). It looks like Simon already recognizes what a smile means (probably from all of the daily therapies) which already puts his understanding of body language at least two years ahead of where I was at that age. I wonder if Simon would understand a preschool level cartoon episode about jealousy (The Dragon Tales episode “Cassie the Green-Eyed Dragon” comes to mind). 2. About patience Don’t be surprised if Simon and Ezra don’t understand the concept of patience yet. Due to a combination of a right hemisphere condition (as a result of complications from a premature birth) and also being on the spectrum I was at least twelve years old (in sixth grade) before I even began to understand a concept as abstract as this one. 3. About vocabulary I’m not surprised that Simon doesn’t yet understand homonyms or that words can have more than one meaning (for example his “bye” vs “buy” confusion). I didn’t understand that very well myself until I was in second or third grade (age eight or nine) when the teacher’s aide in my special education class had me work on several worksheets about this. This was when I learned that nouns could have more than one meaning. Sometime before age six I began to understand that certain verbs (or at least the word “go”) can have more than one meaning. As late as when I was in preschool (age five-and-a-half) I still didn’t understand this yet. When my mother taught me about traffic lights at that age the light would turn red and she would stop the car and say “red stop”. Then the light would turn green and my mother would say “Go mommy and Tommy”. At this point I didn’t understand this meaning of the word “go” (I still only associated it with “going to the bathroom”). Fortunately (in a way) I was still in Pampers at that age so clean up was relatively minimal. In the event that Simon might have the occasional misunderstanding like the ones I had when I was younger it might be a good idea to have extra towels somewhere in the car so that Simon can assist in the cleanup should any such misunderstandings and related mishaps occur. Since Simon is wearing underwear more often than I did at that age (or even a year or two older) it is likely that more opportunities will come up for him to learn how to clean up using towels when it is necessary to do so. Also it looks like Simon may be making mental comparisons between taking the car to the garage and going to the doctor (as shown by his phrase “car owie”). I don’t know if he was taught the comparison in therapy or whether he came up with it on his own but he’s still doing better with this than I did at that age. I think I was in kindergarten (age six) before I was able to make comparisons like this one. It’s also encouraging that he has started saying “dada” (and perhaps “mama”). It looks like he’s beginning to understand the basics of family relationships. Maybe he can learn about brothers and sisters next. 4. About understanding concepts such as “help” It will probably be another year or two before Simon really begins to understand how much help Ezra needs and why Ezra needs help with some activities that he is already able to do. This would not be unusual. For example in the series Caillou (available on Amazon, just like Dragon Tales) Caillou is slightly older than Simon (in most episodes) but he doesn’t yet understand why Alan in the episode “Caillou and the Dragon” is not able to do certain activities that he can do (such as climbing and swinging) even though he’s a year older. Alan in that episode likely has a different neurological condition from Ezra’s (although the episode (being no more than eleven minutes in length) doesn’t actually specify which one). It would have been interesting if they had kept Alan on the show for more than the one episode. It would have been interesting to see Caillou help him to learn some new skills in future episodes. I’m not sure why they didn’t go this route. Maybe the voice actor was only available for that one episode (Who knows?). Also regarding the episode “Caillou and the Dragon” I wonder if Simon might be ready (or at least nearly ready) to understand that episode on some level. I think this pretty much sums up my latest observations on this video for now.

Haha cant do cowboy boots, i struggle so much with shoes its something about leather , its okay with socks sometimes but if the cold leather touches my skin i cannot stand the feeling. So proud of little simon he is talking so well now 😊 thats all your hard work of easing anxiety and making talking fun rather than scary 😊 haha he is becoming a little camera man already i see , can definitely see him getting into vlogging himself later on. I think ezra was feeling a little left out in this one and that he got a little bit frustrated that he can't communicate with daddy as easily and that simon was getting a little more attention. As another none verbal auspie till my early teens sometimes it can be so frustrating because you want to communicate and in a way you are but its like speaking a different language and it can sometimes be hard to really understand that people dont understand what your sounds mean, i know when i was younger it would make me so angry when i was trying to communicate something specific but noone seemed to realise or the responses i got were nothing to do with the issue. That and waiting lol till this day i still hate waiting or looking for things in shops when we dont know what we are getting like gift shopping to the day i always do online so i dont have to walk around and look and get agitated that i cant go home yet 😅 poor little monkey i felt frustrated for Ezra myself , even as a 31 year old i would still find this situation so hard like you handled that amazingly i would of been like forget this i cant do it and just left the stuff and gone cause i still get uncomfortable stimming publically and would be pacing on my toes like crazy in agitation. It always makes me smile that Simon's excited tiptoe flap hands shuffle stim is exactly the same as mine even though im 31 😂 ...i know weve never met but watching your videos makes me feel like i have human companions that understand my brain and i tune in as soon as you post and stim along with the boys and feel like im right there with you guys in the moment , even to the extent if theres a sound or light change that happens that makes me uncomfortable i react to it as if i was literally there in the moment 😅 So happy to see everyones smiles in the end 😊 and Ezra's little happy trot before you got in the car Sorry all my comments are essays 😅

@@7Aheadfamily it's honestly so hard to pin because as individuals we are all so different but in my case the issue was largely anxiety related , and Im ADHD and my brain just moves so much faster than I could verbally keep up with like I would say three words at once and mess up the word cause I was thinking about the rest of the sentence rather than what I was saying...also the need to speak knowing everyone is desperate for you to talk is horrendously overwhelming especially if you have a difficulty with the structure of words and coordination like dyslexia and dyspraxia. With me honestly I'm not sure what it was I would repeat words others said when completely alone before I spoke In front of people and I had a really bad nervous stutter that made me really anxious around talking. I would say particularly in Ezra's case that he definitely does understand your words, maybe not all of them or process them all but he is listening and he definitely does communicate in his own way. All I can really suggest is to see if certain sounds reoccur playing close attention to the details of pitch , length ect , also movements that frequently come with the same noise. Everyone always looks for words or things that sound like words , but often the vocalisation in itself has its own meaning ....like some of Ezra's vocal sounds are definitely stimming but other times I almost think he has his own language and that some specifically mean something if that makes sense ,I'm not sure if in explaining what I mean very well

You once told me about 20/20 vision of your kids. How do we get autistic kids tested? My son is 2.5 year old and he definitely won't answer the chart.
@7Aheadfamily
@7Aheadfamily 8 ай бұрын
Our autistic kids won’t be able to look at a chart either. We had them tested with a machine that the eye doctor uses to test babies’ eyes.

@7Aheadfamily

We already sent you the address. Here it is again. 75 E Center ST unit 234 SPRINGVILLE UT 84663 You are welcome to send whatever you want. I do want to let you know, Ezra has so many clothes but the ones that fit him better lengthwise are ones that he doesn’t like to wear, because he hates wearing belts. His favorite is sweatpants that are tight enough around his waist. That means that usually they are shorter on him. He likes T-shirts. So we have probably about 20 T-shirts for him that he wears. Maybe more. And he has about 10 different pairs of pants and five different pairs of shorts. For the videos we like to put him in seven head T-shirts he has many white black and blue T-shirts. So if you see him in a white T-shirt and lots of videos, it’s probably not the same T-shirt. Because he has four different white T-shirts with our logo on it. I hope this adds some clarification to the situation.

@@7Aheadfamily I'm sorry about those negative comments. My son Jaxon has the same issue with pants, by the time they fit his waist they're already too short on his legs. I really hope those comments don't get y'all down. Your family's channel is really my favorite thing on the internet 🫶🏻✝️

I just gave you a long answer on your last comment so please look at that. I gave you the address there as well. But please remember that the reason he’s wearing those pants is because he likes those types of pants. It doesn’t have anything to do with The lack of clothes in his closet.
@diamondred6210
@diamondred6210 9 ай бұрын
Yeah I can’t stand wearing full length pants as well I only like shorts that go to my knees they have to fit right and be the right fabric and colour. I tried buying clothes to ‘fit in’ because all the girls I knew would only wear skinny jeans and crop tops or dresses some of the worst thing for me to wear I just can’t relax until I can take the uncomfortable clothes off it’s just my preference like everyone has their own preference/style that feels like you and is comfortable to go through the day Ezra’s just look like 3 quarter pants nothing wrong with that at all x
