2nd Gen 4runner Gets JDM HILUX SURF TIRE SWING OUT!

In todays episode, I stumble upon a Hilux Surf OEM tire swing out at the junkyard and had to grab it! A few minor things had to be modified for the "new to me" latch door to be integrated to fit my 4runner but for the most part it was Plug and Play! well besides the holes I created by the swing out door initially falling apart but it won't fall off now! Most importantly though, I GOT LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS! WOOOHOOOO

You should! You can still get all the tire swing out parts directly from Toyota using Amayama. Its a great aftermarket add on to any 2nd gen 4Runner

Hey I’m thinking of doing the same thing on my 2nd Gen hilux surf. Has the rivet gun method of mounting held up or would you recommend more bracing on the body for it?

The rivets are solid so far and its sturdy even after some spiritual offroading, I haven't mounted a tire on my swing out yet though because I am missing the latch cable that detaches the swing out to the body of the car. Once I have that ordered and installed I will update you
