This was a fan request video, through a contest we had on our facebook page.
A musical Tesla coil, or singing Tesla coil is a variation of the infamous machine, capable of producing music by shaking the air with electrical discharges. The lead instruments in this video are actual bolts of artificial lightning, created in our shop in Austin, TX.

Agree, it is a more than a very good nostalgie movie. At least it had great, stylish image. Plus the great soundtrack. Most of my friends disliked, but in my opinion it was between very good and great!

If he did it wouldn't be that big of a deal, the grounding plate is just to help avoid the tesla coil from grounding themselves to something else, potentially causing a fire at the worst. There are plenty of tesla coil videos showing how a faraday cage alone is enough to protect you from tesla coils, much the same way a car will redirect lightning around you in a strike.

It doesn't seem like he would be in any danger as he is wearing insulating boots and chainmail, turns out upon research I found that specific chainmail in this video was made to be a faraday cage, in which well any chainmail would act as a faraday cage but without the insulation layer you would feel pretty uncomfortable to say the least.

The coils are instruments and are being controlled in real time, by means of MIDI control.

The chain suit itself is the protection. As it's a good conductor, the electricity flows all the way through it to the ground, without ever going through the human body itself.
