2022 Acura RDX A Spec Advance (Platinum Elite) review by The Straight Pipes. The 2022 Acura RDX is putting down 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque from a 2.0L Turbo 4 Cylinder. At $53,645 USD would you take it over the Genesis GV80, BMW X3, Audi Q5, Lexus RX350, INFINITI QX50, Volvo XC60, Buick Enclave?

I don’t understand why so many people struggle with the, “True Touch,” touchpad. Yes, it’s different than a normal touchpad, but when I test drove an RDX it was pretty easy to acclimate to. Since you can rearrange the icons, you can put the most used ones in the corners and it’s a quick and smooth experience.

I have a 22 aspec (no advance for me) and I love it. I would have loved to see a fully digital gauge cluster like Audi is doing but I still love the analog (even if they are hard to see in sun). It is annoying that remote start doesn't come standard for the aspec although you can pay for the acura link subscription (which has been disappointing for me) instead of having a key fob. All in all though, I love this vehicle and it's great fun to drive for a small SUV at a better price point than bmw/audi and a few others.

Great video, I really like the daily driving format and think you should definitely talk about gas cost (regular vs super, l/100k, cost per year) and gas range since for regular use it’s a very important thing to consider. You could even talk about relative insurance cost for a specific vehicle ( cheap vs expensive)
@sethdressen9013
@sethdressen9013 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed! I think the addition of gas prices along with the cost per year would be wonderful. Insurance cost would be tricky, I'm 99% sure they base how much you pay mostly on area, and # of accidents per age group, gender and a whole bunch of factors. BUT a good range would be nice!

Good job boys! The RDX just works so well especially in Canada where we have to deal,with crappy roads. Having a front to back AWD system makes the RDX feel very secure in all conditions. I’ve driven the 2022 RDX with adaptive suspension and the difference between comfort and sport are noticeable. Agreed on the 2021 and older RDX the difference was hard to feel. Definitely a great all rounder and if I was looking for a smaller SUV this would be in my driveway.

I bought my 2020 Acura RDX right after your first review of this SUV! I opted for the Elite trim (I think it's Technology in America) because I didn't want the red dash cluster. One thing I hate about the SUV is that it doesn't have a digital speedometer in the middle, as you see in the video, it's nice to see they added that in the 2022 RDX. There is actually a lock button for the car on the trunk. The button is right beside the trunk release, it took me two months to figure that out haha Also, wouldn't this be more comparable to the 2022 Lexus NX just because you get three-row on the RX?
@ElectricBlueIX
@ElectricBlueIX 6 ай бұрын
Acura always executes. My wife had a 2012 TSX with Tech package and we loved it. Power was a little lacking with the 2.4 liter but very smooth and fuel efficient. I love that Acura has kept almost everything physical and analog, especially the gauge cluster. Touch screens and digital clusters can be too much sometimes.

This is my exact ride! Agree with 95% with your feedback. The one thing I think we're getting sucked in to is the touchscreen. Every car I tested with touchscreens were distracting to change anything and it makes you constantly look down from the road. Hated how the luxury brands force $5+k packages in you when everything is covered in 3 total packages (base, a spec, plat elite a spec) Other car is a manual BMW 340XI so wasn't looking for a something overly aggressive. You don't really need a lock button on the trunk. The car locks itself automatically. You hear the first beep when you close the trunk door (assuming others are closed already) and it auto locks on the second beep.

Bought a 2021 RDX A-spec last year and really like almost everything about it. We have some minor gripes/annoyances but nothing major. Overall I feel its a perfectly blended midsize SUV between luxury and sportiness. Its my wife's daily driver and has the right amount of luxury for her without breaking the bank, and for the times I'm driving it has just enough sportiness to have some fun with and reminisce about having a sports car again one day. If there is one thing I really wish it had it would be the digital speedometer. Hoping they add that to the 2021's through a software update since its now available on the 2022's. Its the exact same system so I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.

Yep. @@TheStraightPipes it’s a small rubberized button on the right side of the main pull lever: if u press it, car makes the lock sound and you can just walk away since the button locks the entire car. When I bought my car, there was a sticker w an arrow pointing to this button that said “lock”, since it’s hard to find otherwise. Now I press it by feel and of course took the sticker off. I hope that helps. Btw, I really enjoy your videos and the banter between you two, keep it up!!

You do have to wait for the hatch to close to reach that lock button. If you’re speaking about just closing the hatch and leaving right away, while hatch is still closing, the proximity walk away feature should then help w that scenario.

Interior space and cargo, along with bang for buck Crush all those competitors. I have a 21 advance shawd. I love it. The auto pilot CC steering is garbage, but otherwise it's a dream. Mpg mostly city is about 16.5 for be, 23 for 50/50 .. small gas tank is another negative but oh well. It's biggest competitor imo is the Hyundai Santa Fe calligraphy now

That tiny tiny tiny volume knob on the console was the #1 reason I did not trade in my 2020 TLX for a new one. You guys make a valid point however: I rent Mazda's CX-5 any chance I can grab one on the rental ready line and don't hate that the volume knob is low on the console. Maybe b/c the dial to control everything is also located there. But I HATE HATE HATE that lone knob on the console on the new Acura setup!

Finally a RDX review. Thanks, I plan on picking one up this summer. As a married couple looking at this car, I am happy that it doesn't have built in baby shades, those are terrible visually and functionally, unless you have baby's. I agree that the infotainment system will take some learning, but I plug my phone and listen to Spotify and use Google maps. I wish trunk space and SH-AWD were talked about more, because those are also top in its class.

I have a 2021 Acura RDX A-Spec. I got it in July 2021 and I just went through my first winter with it. The SHAWD in Canadian winter is GREAT.. However my main gripe is something I only discovered in the winter... The foldable mirrors. If your car is outside in a bad winter storm and you need to drive away your mirrors are not flipping out everytime.. Which maybe isn't the safest. You can hit the button inside to trigger the folding out but it won't always fix the problem or maybe just one of the two will fold out. Hopefully they figured that out in 22 model. And yes, I love my red seats too and very comfy as a big and tall guy.
