We lucky to have such footage of the past better than amateur even though some footage probably got damaged from sitting and they had to splice it together make it work I'm not complaining I appreciate it

@@MangoIsStress1 Believe me if you are making the same salary as today in that time, you don't have to worry about how much anything costs. Newspapers were 10 cents, subway trains and buses were 15 cents, and a good meal at a hotel restaurant for 20 dollars or less.

I seem to recall the narrator, Kevin Kennedy, was world and national news anchor for WPIX Channel 11 in New York through the 1950's and into the first half of the '60's.

I rode on those original subway trains of the IND division back in the 1960s Mad Men era. They ran on the 6th and 8th Avenue lines.

Yes the news ran from 7 to 7:30. Kevin Kennedy had world and national news from 7 to 7:10 John Tillman had local New York City news, with commercials for Con Edison, from 7:10 to 7:25. And he was followed by Gloria Okon who did the weather. I was six years old at the time and Gloria became my first crush She also did commercials for Arnold bakeries. " butter and eggs and loving care make Arnold taste beyond compare"

You mean they finally built the tunnels connecting the Staten Island railway with the 4th Avenue subway????
@luislaplume8261 Жыл бұрын
@@sanitman1488 No it was never built. The Staten Island Railroad is a surface line not connected to the subways.
@Widda68 Жыл бұрын
I think it was an elevated line actually with stops at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island along the way before it reached battery Park yeah the Staten Island to Manhattan local train cost three times as much as the Staten Island ferry however.
@timothybuckley6960Ай бұрын
@@Widda68 there was and is no train connecting staten island to Manhattan or Brooklyn, unless you were joking
