Thank you Isabel, I am 73 years old and had almost given up until I came across your videos, they almost make me feel young again. You are such an inspiration and so beautiful. You should setup a place for people like me to rent for a while to learn how to eat healthy, lift our spirits and feel more alive, especially during these crazy times. My wife and I wish you a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and Thank You again.

Isabel, the sequence of you in your new medicine blanket climbing up the mountain to honor your friend in labor is so exquisite. The image of a woman , in wild Nature, wrapped in wool and mists of Winter's dawn-light... it could be today or a thousand years ago. It deserves an award.

@echolocation 999 I'm laughing. For the last 10 years I have lived off grid, growing all my food, going to bed soon after dark and waking up before sunrise. It's a beautiful life. But was burned out by the fires this year. Now I'm in a small town (less than 4000 people) and trying to find a new spot. And I'm in my 60's. Living simply is very calming. PRO TIP ❗️❗️ To not have to deal with the snow every morning. You can buy a big comforter/Blanket or Duvet cover and put over your car. Then in the mornings, you just drag the comforter off. Thus, you won’t have to deal with scraping the snow off your car everyday.

@jasminjaeger3 жыл бұрын
You don't actually get sick only through the cold (I am a medical assistant). The physical body is just more attackable by bacteria etc. when getting too cold, that means it needs a lot of energy to produce more warmth and the immune system shuts down a bit as the main focus is on maintaining the body temperature. Wim Hof, also called "the iceman", is using cold therapy combined with breathing to increase overall health, heal the body, and so much more. There are lots of reports from people who healed chronic diseases with the help of that method. Even physical evidence through studies exists. Check it out and you might be surprised what is possible through the cold 🙏

I love your content and the sentiment you bring. However, I have to say I think the last few thoughts you expressed don’t necessarily hold true for everyone. College can be rewarding, as can work that is not intensely physical or tangible. For you perhaps it wasn’t, but I am proud of what I create at school. I am proud of a finished research paper or PowerPoint presentation that I put my all into. I am a music major, so I am proud of the sounds I create and how they change from lesson to lesson, day to day, and I can see my improvement quite easily. Also, perhaps surviving in a city is easy (assuming you have money for an apartment and food, as well as shelter), especially compared with the natural, rugged lifestyle you lead that so many people look on as being “simplistic” but is truly backbreaking and difficult, but that doesn’t mean that life is easy in the city. There are different struggles, particularly for people who are homeless, lower income, and people of color. While I understand what you mean when you say that there is no satisfaction in the non tangible rewards of college and the ease of surviving in the city, I think it is important to note that there is value in every lifestyle choice and every road that is followed. There are struggles and triumphs and gifts and curses that every person will have to face, and there is no right way to live.

Beautifully said and so very true. But she is young. She does not understand that. And there are people that work in cities that she relays on for what they produce but she does not think of that. I am sure she did not forge her own knife, build the loom she used, make her own power tools or build her own car. She did not make the music she uses in her videos or create the equipment she uses to record and edit them either. The world works because people live such different lives. It is not right to minimize the lives of others the way she did.
@mikael_e3 жыл бұрын
@@ahoward3819 Sorry, but imo she didn't "minimize the lives if others" - she just says what fits to her personality and what doesn't, and compares HER city life with her life out there. @Hannah: you are definitely right, "College can be rewarding, as can work..." - but i guess only, if your reward is not ONLY good grades, but when it fits to you as a person - then it's perfect for you of course and college and your later work are a satisfying path. cheers M.

@@ahoward3819 she practically did rebuild that car, look back on her older videos. She’s not critiquing anyone else’s lifestyle she specifically said ‘for me’ this way of doing suits me better.

I agree with this. I’m in academia (may or may not pursue a PhD if I can get funding for it, who knows) and tbh I wouldn’t be doing that if I didn’t feel like I was called to it (that sounds kind of cheesy, I know). It can be super tough and stressful and sometimes I wonder why I’m doing this to myself, when I probably won’t even find a job in my field of choice after 5 years of studies, but the answer is always that I can’t imagine myself doing anything else right now and I feel like even if I won’t make a living from it, this is something that I have to do. I would never be happy living the self sustained life in a rural place. But I guess that’s the key, find something that you enjoy doing so much so that the everyday struggles become worth it.

Couldn't agree more about the latter statement. Resonates well with my double-dead-spaced insulated cardboard walls. What an excellent way to share life

I really agree with you with the college thing. There is nothing more satisfying than creating something from scratch and having it working in the way which u imagined. Also i think u need to get a hot tub/bath to soak in after work.

2020 has been the best and the worst year for me emotionally Worst part: I suffered a traumatic heartbreak ,😥 and when I couldn't breath , your videos helped me through. Best part : I found your channel☀ now I truly believe that nothing is without purpose, because I never would have appreciated these calm healing videos had I not suffered that trauma and I probably wouldn't switch up my channel to a more peaceful space. I am indeed grateful for all that happened because it led me here to a journey of self healing, accepting myself and seeing the beauty in my rural life even more ☀🌿. Thank you Isabel

@@panosa7789 Disease is a natural progression of life on this planet. All organisms experience it. Our overcrowding and close proximity allow it to proliferate thus lowering the population levels. Unfortunately, this is the way of things. Clean living wouldn't stop it. We can use our science to change the course of it but in the long run millions of years of evolutionary control will win out. I don't like it but it's the reality. That being said, we still need to fight it and do the right thing to minimize the effect of this episode in our human history.

Hi Isabel Your point about the feeling of accomplishment really resonated with me. I live in Denmark and right after High School i studied law at university for 5 years and worked as a lawyer for 4 years afterwards. I have in all that time enjoyed in my scarse sparetime to do some kind of physical work, where I can actually psysically see the result. Now I live on a farm with horses, dogs and cats. And I love doing physical projects outside my 9-5 job. It makes me feel sooo accomplished and happy. I really enjoy your videoes and look forward to see more. Really inspiring. Best wishes! ☺️

I'm really enjoying your sharing; it reminds me a lot of similar things I've done in the forests of Big Sur and mountains of Colorado. If you get cold, it may be due to inadequate footwear, sox, or relying on coffee instead of eating enough calories before heading out. Going out early in the morning during winter in the mountains may also require long johns, or snow pants; the latter just zip over your pants, and can be removed after things warm up. Lots of skiers use them on the slopes as well. In really cold weather, a pair of double boots is invaluable (they have a separate insulating inner-boot). Also, a down jacket may not be enough without the above additions; you may also need a fleece layer on top or underneath. A fleece vest under a down jacket is a good combination, and can be removed if you get too warm. Usually, by afternoon, single layers of clothing suffice. Hope this helps.
