Me too. Both my boys, 27 and 39, grew up with this music because I played my music alot. We had the very best tunes. This song reminds me of lying out at the beach, wind blowing, waves crashing, surfers out, smell of coppertone tanning oil, and carefree teenage years.

They freaking killed that live! Honestly, I was kind of bummed you were doing a live version. And not just a live version, but one that was done 30 something years after they recorded it originally. I expected a version that was a shadow of the original. I was not expecting this. They knocked it way out of the park. They can still sing! What a brilliantly polished live act. That is such a great display of talent with undoubtedly many thousands of hours of polishing their craft and art.

@@deborahreynolds9792 Actually you couldn't be more wrong. The writer Eric Stewart wrote it after his wife asked hom why he hardly ever said he loved her. He thought saying it constantly would make it meaningless, so put a twist on it by saying i'm not in love , but really meaning our relationship means everything to me. I think maybe you might try listening to it again with this in mind now & see if your oppinion changes.

One hot summer’s day in 1974, I was sitting with my back against a tree in the Winter Gardens in Bournemouth. I was 17 years old, and waiting to catch a train to leave home and join The Household Cavalry. Leaning on the same tree next to me was a hippy kind of guy with a guitar, strumming some great chords,,, lots of cool key changes. We got talking, he introduced himself as Graham Gouldman, and I told him that I loved the sound that he was getting out of a simple acoustic guitar. He told me that he was working up a melody for a lyric that his friend had penned. I listened some more, then caught my train. The following year, I heard the finished article, I’m Not in Love storm up the charts. How lucky was I to experience the song in its conception, and what a memory. The name 10cc, by the way, had no sexual connotations... it simply came to Jonathan King in a dream. Boring eh! Loving your reactions,,, and your frequent smiles of wonderment melt my old hippy heart. Love from the UK. X

Man, what a great story! What a privilege to hear that. Not convinced about your explanation of the name, though! It's pretty well documented that it was based on the average ejaculate being 9cc in volume, and as Jonathan King thought of them as an average band, 10cc was arrived at. Jonathan King is not exactly a stranger to sexual innuendo!!

This incredibly diverse Band split into 2 pairs: 1/ Godley and Creme 2/ Stewart and Gouldman but I think only Graham Gouldman is here in the middle. Stewart spent three weeks recording Gouldman, Godley, and Creme singing "ahhh" 16 times for each note of the chromatic scale, creating a 'choir' of 48 voices for each note.Creme suggested they could keep the voices going for an infinite time by using tape loops. Stewart created 12 ft long loops by feeding them at one end through the tape heads of the stereo recorder, and at the other end through a capstan roller fixed to the top of a microphone stand.. YOU MUST HEAR THE STUDIO VERSION RR :)

This song actually changed the music production world back in 75! Those vocals you hear in the back is a synth trick they developed back there where the lead singer guy (don't know his name) recorded himself doing every note and programming it to the mixing table (it took him two weeks to do that), so this song is whole experimentation and the original version features almost exclusively his voice trick. The lyric is a joke to his wife that used to say he never said he loves her, a "love you" denial haha.

@@tootsbasa5874 I think the awesomeness of this song is in part of the non existent tech to do what they wanted. Today we have voice pads on keyboards, and really quality ones, but having to make it analogically adds to the experiment, IMO. Just as when Phil Collins recorded in the air tonight, that drums midsong has a developed effect, a rig the producer had to make.

This is the sound of flowing red wine being performed by a group of artists who have each achieved Master status. A dying breed of musicians who create music instead of just sounds.

I love the album version.. but live they're amazing musicians an humans .... 70's was a wild time an music is what helped me to survive.... Girl .... 1st time subbing!!! ✌🏻💗😊❣️ Yes live.. but even in the original they've layered their voices to get that ethereal sound .... They can harmonize baby... Remember they didn't use what ppl do now... These musicians are real that's why this time was special. If you made radio it's because you had chopps(vocal prowis).... Talent... Love seeing you digging it an yeah ... You bring me joy✌🏻💗😊❣️

The singer is Rick Fenn, who has been with the band since 1976. He's a superb singer and guitarist, and does the original full justice here.

I was in my 20s when this came out I just got out of the Navy and I met a girl who I liked but I was still processing getting out of the service and Vietnam love was hard to feel, I felt more alone in a world I didn't understand so we parted, but this song really spoke to me

I recall 10cc had to do with a syringe of 10cc of what ever turned you on. But I'm sure it has changed into today's social correctness so it doesn't give bad ideas to youth. My self being a percussionist I would say the musician playing the Rumba Shaker/ Maraca, is a percussionist at this point. But as well he is the drummer. For some reason this song reminded me of. Give a reaction to, or give it a listen. If you haven't heard it. "SWEET" BY band " Cigarette After Sex " Beautiful voice with a transcendent quality, In much of their music. Great reaction.
