@@jaredlowry970That is because Matt is not an intelligent person. Ben, Mike and the like at least have enough brains to take a basic grasp of philosophy (even if it’s on a shallow and rather unoriginal level). Matt does not have the brain power to comprehend what they’re saying. That’s why his channel consists entirely of mostly insignificant “shock-jock” critique that he often takes wildly out of the original context, and when he tries to talk about any serious scientific subject (eg, climate change, the neurobiology of asexuality) he is factually wrong and gets dunked on. He only exists to rile up supporters and act as a “beta test” to say extreme things bluntly so that Ben can then say them subtly.

As almost a 5-year plus subscriber, I had to stop by this video here on KZfaq to let you guys know that the audio quality of this broadcast is absolutely pristine. Hats off to your audio team - each speaker was absolutely luxurious in audio quality, positioning, eq, truly worth the money alone on top of the amazing ideas, commentary especially crossing stream across the hosts. Additionally, I noticed that you have done different shots of the hosts which again was outstanding, clearly 4K, and the framing is dramatically better than previous ones. Whatever you guys have done differently this time - keep it up.

Protestant here who totally agrees with Michael and Ben re: freedom. Liberty and License are not the same. The fish who is "liberated" from the water is not actually free. Freedom is the ability to choose what one ought, which assumes the possibility one won't choose the right, but still one is the most free when that choice is unrestrained. For freedom Christ set us free, which isn't to say we are plucked from the presence of sin, but His grace frees us from the Dominion of Darkness which imposed an inability to genuinely choose what is right.
@timskrobot4025
@timskrobot4025 2 ай бұрын
The ability to choose what one ought is called good judgment, not freedom. Freedom is simply the ability to choose. It's fundamentally immoral to restrict another persons freedom just because you believe you know a better way. You treat humans like children who need a guiding parent but no human is qualified to be Humanity's parent and so no human institution should have that power.
@mattjohnson6987
@mattjohnson6987 2 ай бұрын
@@timskrobot4025 when I said "the ability to choose what is right" I didnt mean the inward capacity for making good choices, but the outward removal of any obstacles to making those good choices. But it isn't just a complete lack of restrictions because there are some restrictions that actually enable freedom. My friends lived by the highway and they can't let their young children just go out in the front yard and run wherever their impulses took them, but with a fence around the front yard they could go out and play to their hearts content. Without the right restrictions they would likely be harmed or killed. Is the fish out of water more free or less free? We know the fish out of water is dead, not "more free." The confines of the water are where freedom is found for the fish because a fish has limitations, just as we do. If we lived in a culture where rape and theft and murder had no consequences and we had to fear just walking down the street would we be more free or less free? Its not as simple as the removal of all restrictions because some restrictions lead to genuine freedom and flourishing. Who determines what restrictions lead to freedom? That's not something man can design, thankfully we have a Designer who has given us guidance in that regard. The goal of a good government should be to remove all unnecessary restrictions and have in place only those which enable genuine freedom.

"Freedom" as viewed in the founding of America was viewed as being FREE to practice and love your life based on your religion. Freedom as a term, in my view, is simply being "free" to do something, meaning freedom as a term means nothing without the additional information on what the freedom is for. And for each case you then have an argument of that freedom is virtuous.

The thought - and I've seen this too - of Monarchy? Daughter of the American Revolution here, and that would be such a slap in the face to the Patriots. A bunch of farmers fought the world's best Army and won. Please don't forget them. ❤ 🇺🇸. In fact, everyone should look into your ancestors. Their names might be on a Memorial or two. That has motivated me to continue fighting for our wonderful country. We ARE a wonderful country. We're stil new in the scope of history, of course it's not always what we want it fo be, but remember that WE are the country, not the cruddy politicians.

They pretty much all accepted the premise that republics can be subverted into oligarchies. They also accepted that a good monarchy is preferable to a bad oligarchy in that there is greater good/ freedom for the citizenship in the former vs the latter, and that no one form of gov't is superior to any other when the basis of comparison is the rights afforded to the citizens. The age and form of a country is irrelevant - the Soviet Union had the most liberal and comprehensive constitution ever written from the get go, that didn't stop Lenin and Stalin from arbitrarily purging people.

Loved the discussion, probably more than any of late; however, once again, I am sorely disappointed in the over sexualization of women in the new ad. The in your face satirical humor, great But that in no way requires naked chests of the women. It is disappointing that you resort to that. I would never buy the product because of it. Which one of your daughters would you feel comfortable casting in the role?

Watch now for sharp insights, big laughs, and the boldness that defines The Daily Wire ? Claiming all the credit for discovering Candace ,then boasting about her talent for exposing injustice and simultaneously smiling in her face and saying she has a right to speak her opinions on the wire all the while stabbing her in the back with a gag order .Covert hosility at its best . This would all go away if they would reach out and communicate with her but for the life of me I don't understand Klavan keeps going out and making things up that Candace never said to make the Daily Wire Right and Candace and her listeners wrong .He may as well call Candaces listeners Deplorables !

It is so disappointing to hearn Klavan misrepresent the works and Friedrich Nietzsche and Arthur Schopenhauer multiple times over the years on these backstage shows. Nietzsche defended the jewish people mutiple times during his life and published works. He praised the jewish people for bringing the world the most noble man in history (Jesus) in "Beyond Good and Evil". Nietzsche despised the emergence of German nationalism and nationalism altogether, which resulted in the conclusion of his friendship with Wagner just to mention one example. People such as Herzl, Bubber and Weizmann were influenced by Nietzsche's teachings. Nietzsche did blame the christians for the misfortunes and mistrust the jewish people faced over the centuries for their unwillingness to submit. The main theological differences between the jewish people and christians is the seperation of heaven and earth, which was incorporated from the works of Plato (Nietzsche depised Plato and Socrates whom he saw as the corruptor of the world). I do not know if this is exmaple of "American'ism" at its worst or disingenuous incompentence at its best.
