ഞാൻ ഏതാണ്ട് 20 വർഷങ്ങൾ മുൻപ് തൊടുപുഴ ഒരു used car show room ൽ ഒരു black Ambassador car കണ്ടിരുന്നു. അന്ന് Tata Estate, Tata Seira, Tata indica എന്നിവ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ആ showroom ൽ, എനിക്ക് ഈ ambassador ൽ നിന്നു കണ്ണെടുക്കാൻ പറ്റില്ലായിരുന്നു. അന്ന് അന്പത്തിനായിരത്തിന്റെ extra fittings ഉണ്ട് എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു. മുവാറ്റുപുഴ ഒരു workshop ൽ ചെയ്തതാണ്. ഇന്നും ആ image കണ്ണിൽ നിന്നു പോകുന്നില്ല. കോയ - Bucket സീറ്റ്, floor ഷിഫ്റ്റ്‌ gear, AC, വീതിയുള്ള ടയർ, പ്ലേറ്റ് ചെയ്ത ഹബ് റിം, front ഗ്രിൽ വളരെ simple, ഇന്നും മനസ്സിൽ ഉണ്ട്, door തുറന്നു അടക്കുന്ന sound തന്നെ, jazz drum ന്റെ വളരെ പതിഞ്ഞ ശബ്ദം. ആ ശബ്ദം തന്നെ കേൾക്കാൻ ഒരു പ്രത്യേക സുഖം. ജീപ്പിന്റെ ഡീസൽ engine ആണ്. , tappet sound ഒട്ടും ഇല്ല. Start ചെയുന്ന ശബ്ദം തന്നെ കേൾക്കാൻ എനിക്ക് ഭയങ്കര ഇഷ്ടം ആയിരുന്നു. Start ആയി 1 മിനുട്ട് കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ വണ്ടി complete silent ആകും. നമ്മൾ ഒന്ന് തൊട്ടു നോക്കുമ്പോൾ വളരെ ചെറിയ ഒരു കുലുക്കം മാത്രം. വില -90 000. അന്ന് tata indica വാങ്ങാൻ ബ്രോക്കറുമായി ചെന്ന ഞാൻ ഈ ambassador car ന്റെ അടുത്ത് നിന്നു മാറാതെ നിന്നു. എന്റെ കൈയിൽ അത്രയും പണം ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു. എന്നാലും ആ car നോക്കി നില്കാൻ തന്നെ ഒരു പ്രത്യേക സുഖം. Indica super ആണെന്ന് broker പറഞ്ഞു കൊണ്ടേയിരുന്നു. Indica എടുത്താൽ ഉണ്ടായേക്കാവുന്ന പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ പറഞ്ഞു കൊണ്ടേയിരുന്നു. (എനിക്ക് എങ്ങനെ എങ്കിലും indica വേണ്ട എന്നാക്കണം., എന്നാൽ ambassador വാങ്ങാൻ ഉള്ള കാശും ഇല്ല. ) ഒടുവിൽ മനസ്സ് നിറയെ ഒരായിരം ambassador എന്ന മനോഹര സ്വപ്നവും ആയി മടങ്ങി. വണ്ടി വാങ്ങാത്തത്തിൽ അന്ന് ഒരു വിഷമവും ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു. ആ ഒരൊറ്റ അനുഭവം കൊണ്ട് ഇടുക്കി മുഴുവൻ ഒരു സ്വർഗ്ഗ തുല്യമായ ജില്ലയാണെന്നു എല്ലാരോടും പറയും, ഇന്നും പറയുന്നു. ഇപ്പോഴും എന്റെ സ്വപ്നങ്ങളിൽ ഒരു അഴകുള്ള കൊമ്പനെ പോലെ ambassador തല ഉയർത്തി നിൽക്കുന്നു.

ഒരു 1987 model petrol car മോഡിഫിക്കേഷൻ കാര്യമായി ചെയ്യാതെ ഞാൻ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. മോഡിഫൈ ചെയ്യാൻ ലക്ഷങ്ങൾ ആകും. പക്ഷെ അതിനനുസരിച്ചു യാത്രാ സുഖം ഉണ്ടാകും. ഒരു 7 ഓ 8 ഓ ലക്ഷം മുടക്കിയാൽ ഒരു 10 ലക്ഷത്തിന്റെ പുതിയ കാറിന്റെ സുഖം അഥവാ ഗുണം ഉണ്ടാകും. പക്ഷെ നിലവിലെ നിയമം engine മാറ്റാൻ അനുവദിക്കുന്നില്ലാ....

Very nice, for me the paintwork is awesome and the interior is good. one thing could have improved that is engine. for the 2ltr we can calibrate more power and torque.

My compliments to Dr Ijas. May I suggest- LED lamps and Hundai Creta horn. Rest all good. This was one of my car in the 60s-70s, not the Mk IV. Also suggest a Triumph Herald for rebuilding. My best car till 1985-1991, which I drove all over India. Today I wish I had not disposed of it. Hreat work. Dajish please put up Ambassador or Herald "convertible" rebuilds if you find any. Thanks. Wonderful car... And nice location & review dajish bro. Kindly let me know where the inter cooler is situated in this car. Because in HM turbo engine we could find a projection on the front bumper to accommodate the intercooler. But this car is fitted with a metal bumper that's why I wish to know about the location of inter cooler. Thanks in advance.
