Dale always struck me as such a unique player, able to capture that punk/grunge jumpy energy of the time while still playing into the groove and feel of the song and make it seem heavy and moveable. He also just has great chops and makes a 3 piece sound like an 8 piece. Super underrated drummer imo

Dale’s drum rhythms are so unique and almost jazzy in the way that the sticks float across the kit. But he somehow still captures that hard rock sound, with every beat delivering just as much volume and clear cut sound as the last. One of my favourite drummers

Lombardo kinda butchers some of the Melvins songs on Millenium Monsterwork because they're totally different drummers. Lombardo is all about speed and you can hear him stumbling all over the drums for Hooch

Am looking at this drummer for the first time,ever. I have heard of "the Melvin's" in the distant background,over time,as the virtuoso percussion snob that I am. He is pretty good. I love to see the balding,middle age,kick ass,drummer attitude,lol. I can identify with that heavily. He has opted for the "power over speed" style and plays a single bass drum pedal for a very "classic" feel,very clean and predictable. He is unencumbered with actual learned technique and seems driven by passion plus precision over many years of being a Drum Head. He has a very "Bonham-esque" edge to him without using ANY of the actual John Bonham trademark phrasings or chops but I bet he can play ANY "zep tune" note for note or better,just like the rest of US. The fact that he wears gloves tells you that he is there for power playing,not para-diddles. Not a bad drummer at all....

I’m not saying one is better or more talented than the other, but I see a lot of similarities between Grohl’s and Crover’s playing. I guess Kurt Cobain did too.

Dave Grohl idolized Crover. Dale was the best drummer in the scene. Dave mimicked a lot from Dale. His stage presents and his setup for example. (big toms) Dale was just filling in Nirvana. Kurt idolized the Melvins. Kurt wanted to be a Melvin.

@@ipooponface I am educated and am a drummer myself and obviously he is a great drummer to be on here and all just not that technical to me and I didn't dig the song or style of his playing. Oh well and it didn't have anything to do with speed or blast beats which are just that speed and nothing else. I like off beat stuff as well not just straight beats with speed. It's all about the music as a whole and how it goes with the guitars and hey this wasn't my cup of tea. If I'm stupid in terms of my opinion oh well....

Yo finally someone's saying what we're all thinking. This dave crowbar guy is a chump at best, but if we're being honest that he does that thing with his foot on the big drum down below the other ones where its like bam bam bam bam but REALLY quick and steady. It's got a good rhythm ya know? In fact I found it so audibly arousing that I felt compelled to do nothing but bounce on my boy's dick for hours to this. But as it turns out men are shit (haha am I right ladies?) and he's been fuckin around behind my back so now I have AIDS I let him raw dog me in the hammock. I mean guys don't get pregnant so I didn't think I had anything to worry about. LOL was I wrong. Anyways I guess I'm pretty sick now, and it's all dave's fault. So I guess that says something for him.

Well, what about the following. Imagine you're playing in a band and your guitar player shows up with a weird riff like this one. Now, your task is (in order of importance): a) to find something to play that fits the song; b) that grooves; and c) that is not completely nondescript. What are your chances to come up with what Dale Crower is playing on that song? On top of that, what's the time signature of that song and can anyone downplaying Crower's ability actually follow it steadily and with groove? I wouldn't bet much on this.
