I’ve been playing since 2012, and I tell you I could’ve used this video! Very well and simply explained. Luckily I’m great at playing by ear and I was able to figure all this out on my own, and I still learn songs by ear to this day (don’t read music). For basics this was well demonstrated. Thank you for your video! My grandparents live in Sun City too!

@dalematthies
@dalematthies 4 жыл бұрын
Without being in the same room with you while you are practicing, it is difficult to say. But, perhaps two things: play slower, but at a steady pace, and the other is to practice the left hand so much, to the point that it almost plays by itself - to the point you no longer have to think about it. At that point you can put more focus on the right hand while your left hand is in "auto" mode.

@@dalematthies Many thanks for that Dale, of course I agree Dale but the British Collage of Accordionists do recommend getting pupils used to playing bass staccato when learning possibly as a lead in to the music and exercises that will be played at later levels. Of course what method you use is up to you. At the end of the day it is the result that counts. Well done for providing your lessons, promoting the Accordion is a great idea. Thanks again. Victor.

@dalematthies 4 жыл бұрын
Because I cannot see what 3 black keys you are referring to, it is difficult for me to give you an answer. I am guessing that you are playing on a full size accordion, if so, the key closest to your chin will be an F key. Just remember that the key pattern always repeats, 2 black, then 3 black. Different size accordions will have different number of keys, but the pattern is always the same.

Hi Dale. I called you a couple of weeks ago and I finally got an 8 bass accordion which I love but even the adult straps are a little small. My wife is going to try the 8 bass and I purchased a used 12 bass today and will start with lesson 1 here. I am 59 years old and took accordion lessons while ages 8 and 9. I got the itch to play again and the only song i can remember by ear is the beginner's waltz from the 1950's that the teach taught me. The bass chords were C and G and D. Would you happen to know where I can get the sheet music for that song which would show the the numbers for the fingers for the right hand as I am still learning how to read music. Thank you..

Is your statement coming from the point of view of a new player? Or, do you already play and you feel a new player would not understand the material presented? The great thing about video is that you can watch for a couple minutes, then work on a concept, then come back to the video for a couple minutes and review. After you understand the first concept you can repeat the process and work on the next concept.

I own several accordions. The little Weltmeister in this video is a great size to hold when I am sitting at my computer writing music for students. I can easily get my arms around it to reach the computer keyboard. Having the accordion on my lap is convenient for checking rhythms. And, lucky for me, my fingers are not thick, so I can still play a small instrument with mini-size keys.

?? Derail, he answered you kindly and with respect despite your comment resonating as really mean spirited. So, were you just having a bad day or are you always a jerk? Besides, what business of it is yours what he plays or do you not get that his motive in posting is in aptly instructing people? Though too, the fact that he responded to you with grace and dignity rather than anger in the face of your comment says a great deal more about the caliber of this man's character over yours. But then again, with a user name like 'derail' its more than obvious that you intentionally incite negative feedback from people all over the internet in thinking that receiving negative attention is better than receiving no attention at all. That said, in light of your comment, if anyone here is explemplary of a child, its far from being this man but instead, you.
