Not a silly question! Egg whites have an incredibly slim chance of having salmonella, you can find egg whites in many cocktails and other drinks. Buy eggs that have been pasteurized (to kill any bacteria in the eggs) or you can buy egg product (like egg whites or egg white type product in a carton).

hmm, were the egg whites fluffy before you added in the matcha? The mixture needs to be fluffy before adding in the matcha powder or it will stay liquidy!

Jasmine Reynaga same thing happened to me! So fluffy before then the matcha turned it into liquid. So annoying, such a waste
