You cannot go wrong moving to either Houston or Dallas. The reason why Dallas wins is simple, it is the nicer cities that are part of the Dallas metro area. Dallas has better public transportation and DFW has way safer, richer, newer, better looking suburbs or cities around it. When you move to Dallas you don't just get Dallas. You have Fort Worth, Arlington, Plano, Frisco, Irving, Garland, Addison, Richardson, Grapevine, Westlake, Southlake, University Park, Highland Park, McKinney, etc. A lot more gorgeous cities are part of the DFW metro and that is where Dallas wins big time.

@@mcnits I totally agree! Lived in BOTH cities. The commutes in Dallas for me weren't as long for work. Plus I didn't have to worry about the EZ tag in Irving. (Tolls are ONLY an issue if you live in the North suburbs in Dallas) And you're right about safety. Houston has NO Zoning laws! So you can practically live in the "HOOD" ANYWHERE! (Unless you WAY of North by the Woodlands, or Cypress) The ONLY areas you may not feel safe in Dallas is South Dallas. (And maybe some parts of Oak Cliff) And ALL of the suburbs of the Metroplex are pretty safe.

When you are going through difficult times in your life, don't isolate yourself. There are people who have been through what you might be facing right now and they overcame it. Don't push people away, surround yourself with people who are spiritually mature and get the help that you need. Isolation when you are in pain and don't know if there's a way out is dangerous and that's why we have suicide cases. Listen, there's nothing that you can be facing that God is not able to solve for with God nothing is impossible. Hold on. Jesus loves you.

I’ve lived a significant amount of years in each. Pros for Houston: Roads are better in Houston, lots of jobs in Houston, because it is so ethnically diverse there are a lot of wonderful restaurants/food options. Cons for Houston: it is so humid, the summers are like being in a sauna you can’t get out of, it floods terribly and it is highly doubtful that it will get better, you don’t often see a thank you wave for letting someone in ahead of you while driving or see as many people with manners (imho). Pros for Dallas: not as humid so being outside is more pleasant in summer, less gray days by a significant amount, because of Fort Worth you could live in the middle of the metroplex and benefit from both cities within reach, and all the cool cities in between. Cons for Dallas: occasional hail storms, certain areas (seems like more areas than Houston) are too materialistic and all about what you drive, etc. I would for for the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex simply for less gray days. But that’s just my personal preference.

For everyone talking about Houston heat vs Dallas heat. They both are scorchers in the summer. I sweat the same amount if I'm walking more than 10 min in each of them. Dallas is actually hotter temperature wise, but Houstons greenhouse effect with the humidity can make it feel hotter on the heat index. All in all, Texas in general is hot. Bickering over who has the more comfortable Seat in the scorching oven is beyond ridiculous 🙄

@手ぇ 愚 ゃあ The guy that Beatup Superman Time Magazine just named Houston one of the world’s greasiest cities…..right up there with Paris, Sydney, Bangkok and other world class cities. No other city in Texas was even mentioned. And it’s not the first time Houston has received this type of praise. Houston has culture, activity, the best museums, diversity and the most creative people anywhere along with good food and music. And the light rail system is actually more efficient because it connects most of the city’s major employment centers and attractions and it’s about to be expanded to the airports.

Now Dallas is a very fast paced city, has better technology than Houston and its economy is bigger and more diverse. I also love DART, the biggest light rail system in the nation! Dallas has better transportation than Houston and I think slightly better climate. They are really close competitors and loved living in both cities.

If we're just talking about cities, I like Houston a lot better to be honest. It just offers more overall as a city. Dallas is the nicer, "cleaner" city, but its not particularly interesting and its culture feels like an amalgamation of different flavors of standard American culture. It's a great example of an ideal American city and goes all in on its Texan-ness. Houston is just so much more interesting on a city-level and culture-wise, more diverse, and doesn't really feel like Texas - you could plop it anywhere on the Gulf Coast in any state and it would feel somewhat similar. Houston's food is better too - just last month people were clogging up roads for an entire weekend just to get to a Turkey Leg Hut pop-up in DFW. And that's just one place. The difference in stuff like airports (where DFW has more domestic destinations but Houston has more international ones), traffic/infrastructure (they are both horrible, don't let DFW people try to convince you that the place is some sort of traffic paradise), public transit (where Dallas has a bigger rail system, but Houston has higher actual transit use) and things like skylines (Dallas has better lights, Houston has more skylines/skyscrapers) are about a wash to me. DFW (as a whole, not necessarily Dallas) does have hockey, Six Flags, and NASCAR if you're into any of those things. The one thing the DFW area does do markedly better than Houston has nothing to do with Dallas itself, and that's actually the fact that the suburbs are better there. But as far as cities? I'll take Houston every time.

@手ぇ 愚 ゃあ The guy that Beatup Superman I appreciate the write ups you and well researched facts you gave on both cities. Tbh my eyes and preferences say Houston is better but internally I just think Dallas is better no matter what even if I can't see how just yet. I've been more impressed with Houston so far than Dallas but Houston's MANY cons largely overshadow Dallas' cons. When people speak about the bad things about Dallas they say the same weak shit everyone else says about Dallas. That It's snobby and overpriced and pretentious and has lots of traffic or it's boring, flat and soulless. That's literally it. How tf is any of that worse than being the literal human trafficking capital of the country(better not visit iany massage places) or having a lack of proper zoning laws so a porn shop could open next door to you? How are any of Dallas' cons worse than Houston being on the carcinogenic coast and having to deal with shitty cancer causing air quality all the time? Just last week a report was out on the Formaldehyde plumes on the coast... So much for being the energy capital of the country. Don't even let me get started on the bug problem Houston has. I honestly think Houston's pros outweigh Dallas' pros but Houston's cons are larger and more dangerous than Dallas'. Dallas just doesn't seem like it has that main major glaring con while Houston literally has 4!!!😑 I just think Houston is a growth city whereas Dallas is a made city. Houston is where you go to grow, make money, party, etc then once you mature go to Dallas to settle down and chill out. Dallas already has a built transportation system that goes everywhere around the city unlike Houston. Dallas just seems a helluva lot more orderly, structured and regulated with everything already there whereas everything is all over the place in Houston and is still evolving for better and for worse. As someone in another video pointed out, Houston is a short term city to live in and Dallas is a long term city to live in. I have no Ill will towards either city and I have love for both. I just wanted to state my opinionated facts👌
@joonkwon9303
@joonkwon9303 3 жыл бұрын
Houston the city itself as a whole is definitely more interesting since its cultural offerings are better and more pronounced due to their ethnic diversity. (Houston is the most diverse city in the country besides NYC). Dallas just feels like rather an amalgamation of "cities" like Plano, Garland, Mesquite, etc. However, Houston has its major cons that make those considering the move think twice about their decision. One of them is the insane level of humidity that will wear you out. I know, Dallas is also pretty humid, but it's closer to what you'd call "dry heat." Their second cons is the way the city is built that makes it so prone to flooding. You don't want to deal with that disaster. Third cons is the lack of zoning. Because of their lack of zoning, the city looks unorganized and can look downright ugly. You can move in without realizing that there's a crematorium with smokes coming out of the chimney right next to your backyard. Or an adult shop next to a kindergarten that's next to a crack house. You don't wanna deal with stuff like that when you have kids.
@joonkwon9303
@joonkwon9303 3 жыл бұрын
@@user-sz6kp1tn6c I 100% agree with everything you said. I've always thought that Houston is better for those who are insanely wealthy or those who are low income (given that the Houston's "hood culture" is the best in Texas) whereas Dallas works out the best for those who are middle class. Dallas has more domestic immigration than Houston for many reasons.
@donovan6528
@donovan6528 3 жыл бұрын
@@joonkwon9303 can't argue with most of that, though I'd say the idea of smokestacks and porn shops rising next door is way more fiction than fact. Houston neighborhoods generally have pretty strong deed restrictions, particularly the ones transplants move to. And there's definitely laws against adult businesses near schools and parks. Houston may not have zoning but zoning in and of itself doesn't prevent most of what you're talking about - those are normally the province of civic ordinances and laws. Overall though both cities have pros and cons, that's for sure.

Dallas hands down. Only metro linked with mass transit including both airports. Hate Houston traffic and their mass transit is a joke. At least in Dallas you have options other than driving. Best area of Dallas is White Rock Lake area (Lake and Garden District)--Lakewood, Lochwood, Little Forest Hills. Dallas Arboretum is top 10 in country. I live in Lochwood and have the nicest neighbors, lots of trees, low crime, like living in a small town within City, and living near White Rock Lake a big plus. With the oil industry in Houston it definitely more polluted. Can't stand the humidity in Houston.

Most people moving to either Dallas or Houston aren’t going to be living in the city centers. Some will, but not most. Most will move to the suburbs. And the suburbs of both cities are very different than the cities. Generally with exceptions of course) the suburbs of both cities are less congested in terms of traffic, less crime, “friendlier” in terms of Southern hospitality, more family oriented, more amenities, tend to be more politically conservative (most Texas cities are like donuts politically speaking where the donut holes are more liberal while the surrounding donut itself more conservative), etc. Again, I’m only speaking very generally, there are plenty of exceptions to every single one of the things I mentioned. But my main point is for most people it’d probably be better to compare specific suburbs of each city than the city themselves. Like compare Plano in Dallas to Sugar Land in Houston since that’d be where one is likely to be living and working.

I feel like a politician that is playing both sides of the fence, but here is my take on the Dallas vs Houston debate. I"m the lifelong Dallas resident that prefers Houston. I prefer Houston for all the reasons the Houstonians list: I prefer the Houston cuisine, architecture and affluent areas over their Dallas counterparts. Houston's negatives do not really bother me. All that being said....Dallas is a superior city to Houston. Dallas is more prestigious than Houston despite H-Town being a bigger city. Most visitors to Texas tend to prefer Dallas over Houston. Dallas is cleaner, has a more diverse economy and is much more organized as a city and metro area. Houston is very haphazard with filthy air because of the oil refineries. Houston is big, dirty and funky.......but I like that.

I’ve been living in Dallas for nearly 2 years now. As a native Houstonian, Dallas is a better quality city overall, BUT…..Houston has a vastly superior food and art culture. Probably the best in Texas I’d argue. I’d consider moving back just for that alone. I’m also not a fan of the spiderweb highway infrastructure of Dallas. I’ve never seen so many wrecks and accidents. Also, Houston is generally more affordable to live in from a middle class perspective. You definitely get more bang for your buck when considering luxury apartments and homes, but that’s changing under the current market. There’s plenty of opportunities in Dallas with accommodating salaries to somewhat balance that out however.

The DFW Metroplex is superior to Houston Metro. Houston is the largest metro in the country to not have a true amusement park or an NHL team. There are also probably just as many Cowboys fans in Houston as there are Texans fans. And to say that Houston’s mass transit system is inadequate would be an understatement. Don’t get me wrong. Houston is a cool city. But they think very highly of themselves and they never tell the whole story when they talk about Dallas.

@DIGITAL TRADE MUSIC State rivalry aside, both cities stand on their own. But there are always going to be comparisons between the two. My main gripe is with how Houstonians like to misrepresent facts when they talk about Dallas. It’s anything but “small” and it’s only boring to those who don’t know where to look for fun.
@JacobCuevasVFX
@JacobCuevasVFX Жыл бұрын
You just contradicted yourself. Yeah inner city Houston is the Loop. Dallas isn't even the center of the region. And to talk about the transit is hilarious. I use it daily just fine. We carry more people per mile than Dallas does with is 100 miles of light rail. Nobody even rides the train in Dallas

Living in both, I give the edge to DFW. It's more scenic, more jobs, rarely floods, the roads are more bountiful, the suburbs are cleaner and more plentiful. Houston only has Katy, Spring, Sugar Land, Cypress, the woodlands, Pearland, Clear Lake, and the Kingwood area. I may have missed a few but DFW far outweighs those. Also, Dallas and Fort Worth are built better than the city of Houston. Fort Worth and Dallas have pretty neat city centers in comparison to Houston's which is empty except around the U of H area. Houston is also too big, you can drive for 2 hours and still be in Houston. Sure Houston may be a little cheaper, but you get a lot less than what DFW has to offer. Don't give me Houston's diversity either. It's mostly segregated, you'll rarely notice the diversity. In person, you won't notice any difference between either cities.

I literally just came from Houston and Dallas wins hands down. Let me say that Houston's food is amazing, slightly better than Dallas. But their downtown is trash and the skyline us so dull. There is nothing vibrant about Houston. Dallas easily has the best Downtown and skyline. Our city is far more vibrant and cleaner. We have better sports teams, major theme parks, also a more walkable downtown compared to Houston. We have Deep Ellum, Greenville Ave, Bishop Arts, etc. I liked Galveston though the beach isn't the best, but Houston was underwhelming. Also, Vegas is planning to build casinos along Dallas Riverfront Blvd. Houston was disappointing for me.

I’m honestly amazed at this comment section. To have two of Americas premier and fastest growing and they like to bicker against eachother? Lol chill. No where that I’ve been have I seen this kind of rivalry going on. Also, if we are going to be honest, these cities are more similar than they are different (sorry if that bothers you guys but it’s true). They’re both very Texan boomtowns. Here’s some differences I’ve noticed 1. Houston has great suburbs (Woodlands, Sugar Land, Springwood Village etc). But the Dallas area does a better job at keeping them fully contiguous. Not everyone likes that (I personally don’t really care), but for what they’re trying to do, it works out well for them. You got Plano and go on to Irving and on to Grapevine. It does seem that the Woodlands/Springwood region is becoming this, but the northern DFW suburbs are way ahead in the transformation. 2. Houston has a strong set of industries. Dallas has a wider variety of smaller industries. That saying that “Houston is just oil” is wrong let’s be clear. Houston is transitioning into America’s next biotech hub and is going through a supply chain boom and it’s smaller industries like telecom (Crown Castle), tech (HPE) etc are growing. Dallas is well established in most industries. 3. Neither have great weather but Houston definitely sees more extremes. 4. Houston has a cruise port which as a traveler, I loved having in my backyard when I lived there. 5. Dallas has a six flags. 6. Both have terrible infrastructure like the rest of the state as a whole. Dallas’ isn’t as bad (except the roads. Those are pretty terrible). 7. Houston’s sports being all downtown makes a nice central environment. Arlington’s is nice as well. 8. Houston does have refineries which aren’t attractive. You can just live on the west/north side if you don’t like them but they’re there. 9. Houston seems a bigger hotspot for engineers. Dallas seems a bigger hotspot for marketers. Both have great food and world class shopping, Great university scenes etc. And as it matters to this video, lots of jobs

1. Dallas had a clean and organized look to it. 2. I think the quality of museums and ethnic food are better in Houston. 3. Most of the Houston area are flat as pancake, but it has the greenery and lush vegetation that the rest of Texas lacks. Dallas on the other hand is kind of hilly, but you hardly see any tall pine trees, the lawns turn yellow-ish in appearance as they go dormant and everything looks kind of dry and dusty. 4. Houston has a stronger national image of ethnic diversity and Black culture when in fact both cities are nearly identical when it comes to this matter. 5. Dallas has a commuter rail system that runs through its Northern suburbs. Houston does not. 6. Houston has had HEB stores for a long time. Dallas is just about to get a few. 7. This is just my personal opinion, but Dallas drivers seem to be slightly more aggressive than the ones I've encountered in Houston so far. However, street racing seems to be more rampant in Houston. 8. I feel a bit less safe in Houston versus Dallas. In Houston, you could be in a crime-ridden neighborhood right across a few blocks from a wealthy, safe neighborhood. 9. Houston feels like Southwest Louisiana or a suburban New Orleans and Dallas feels like a large OKC. 10. Stronger Gulf Coast food scene in Houston -- boiled crawfish places are more common in the Houston area than in Dallas. 11. There's more noticeable pride amongst Houston residents for their city. You see Houstonians call their city "H-Town" or "Space City." I see Dallasites call their city "Big D," but doesn't seem to be common. 12. Houston has a distinct car sub-culture like "slabs." Houston is also home to the art car parade. 13. Trees and its leaves change colors in Dallas. In Houston, they rarely do. 14. Houston has more Southern feel to it than Dallas. 15. The air quality in Houston feels slightly worse. 16. Houston has bayous, Dallas does not.

Lets be honest these people in Dallas hate Houston because were bigger. So people from Dallas will always try to compare. Which will never be. Besides I been to Dallas a few times. Let me just say it is Gaawd Awful boring. Nothing to do, Austin has more stuff to do, even Portland Oregon. The skyline in dallas is beautiful, but who has the biggest skyline in Texas yea Houston. Houston even hold fourth in High rises and more city buildings. Houston Cheaper living, better job and business opportunities, better healthcare, more activities, better food, bigger fricken city. Houston keeps sprawling outwards. 667 squar miles of one whole big O city and a few metro areas. Traffic sucks but they take care of it quicker than Austin and L.A. Houston with almost 3 million residents and that doesn't include attractions, so imagine what the attractions would add to that. Sorry Dallas but Houston is just by a long shot better. Were about to move Chicago to the number 4 spot. While you stay in the High digits. You Cant compare you want bettta life move hearaahh! OK ;)

@@debbiebooker4649 Houston’s and San Antonio’s massive city limits are the only reason they’re bigger. Both San Antonio and Houston countinues to annex additional land which makes their city larger. BTW Dallas County alone has more ppl than the entire San Antonio metro area. No one in America thinks San Antonio is larger than Dallas. How are we adding Ft Worth? We’re one metro area. Houston > Dallas. DFW > Houston Metro. DFW airports are better (AA and Southwest are headquartered here). DFW has more corporate headquarters and it's not all oil and gas.... With all that said, DFW quality of life is superb but Houston is a better fit for me. More entrepreneurial vs corporate dallas. Houston has more culture, diversity and international flair. It really boils down to what you will end up doing for a living. If you plan on climbing corporate ladders, Dallas slightly edges out Houston.

Dallas is cleaner, better roads, safer, newer areas, has the better airport, and has a brief winter. However, it's bland, has severe weather, and lacks diversity. Both are better than most big cities. The older crowd will pick Dallas because its cleaner and plenty of space.
