Just a suggestion, when you upgrade the batteries consider adding a higher output alternator at the same time. It’ll help with the charging and run your engine less

Please NO! Please do NOT store the Gas and Propane in the cabin! Especially the gasoline, vapors will ignite. Please put them in a well vented area.

A suggestion for the berth that took on water. Most cushions on a boat are made of some type of foam. If the berth took on enough water it may well have soaked through their cover and into the foam. If so, and the foam is not dried thoroughly mold will likely develop. Similar thing happened to me on a passage from Hawaii to Tahiti. Leaking station base soaked several of the cushions. Open landfall we had to remove all cushions, squeeze as much sea water out as possible, soak with fresh water, squeeze, dry. Hope yours isn't as drastic. Fair winds!

Great tip! Luckily the foam was rather dry by the time we got back. I thought about laying them in the sun if they were more wet. But, at least you were in the tropics when that happened- even the largest inconvenience is better in Tahiti. ;)

Congratulations! Please don’t store propane and gasoline down below because it’s very dangerous. All it takes is a spark to ignite. Keep them in a well ventilated area outside.

Please get the red gas can and the propane tank OUT OF THE BOAT and mount them on the deck. Gas and propane are heavier then air and EXPLOSIVE.

If I've understood correctly, propane is an asphyxiating gas. That means it will displace the oxygen/air in your lungs, making it difficult or impossible to breathe if exposed to high concentrations.

Thanks for leaving the helpful tip! The propane tank is already gone and donated. It was just a for the crossing as backup.

We do for our main tank! But, the one down below was just a backup for the generator or stove. :)

Many sailors mount a wooden plank to the stantions and then attach extra tanks to the plank.

Make sure to look at increasing the wiring gauge when you switch to lithium batteries. The smaller wires can overheat and be a fire risk.

Excellent video. Happy New Year. I appreciated you going over everything that failed to some degree or other. I was wondering about that. Crazy thought, is it possible the fuel gauge, voltmeter and engine issue were all related. I know you already solved it, but it was something I thought about watching the video.

Maybe a problem with the anti siphon on your exhaust mixer- water coming in from outside to the wrong part of the engine. Look at this on KZfaq it is a common Catalina problem and an easy fix- usually can clean it! Good luck

It’s a Samsung frame tv and we are obsessed with it! I think it’s very aesthetically pleasing for boats! It runs on our shore power, so if we wanted it at anchor, we could need to set it up to run on the invertor.

I am just happy that you made it back home. The only way to learn is to do. On can say to a cat your so furry and cute they say that’s not me I am a predator. One needs to learn the systems. Or just stay coastal. Sorry brutally honest second attempt to much fail. I would never take my wife on that trip with knowledge that was displayed. Your all safe happy
