For me, the outstanding feature is the focal length, 20-60 is so useful. I’m not thrilled with the images I get, but I don’t hate them either.

This kit lens was the only reason why I switched from the mft to the FF (S5). My copy is incredible sharp; sharper than respective Panasonic‘s prime lenses except the Panasonic 50mm f1.4; the S5 with this lens reproduces much more details than the excellent G9 with the 12-35mm f2.8 PRO (!) lens! The only reason I don’t use this lens very often is that I‘m mainly for landscape photography where I prefer to use the 70-200mm f4.0 lens!

Well, you certainly seem to have got a whole lot of lens for a very good price. Those images look great. Although I am not in the market for that lens, or indeed the camera as I have invested a fortune in Fuji gear, I still found the video interesting as it is always good to keep abreast of alternatives. Your location also looks good and I am more than a little tempted to pop up there from London for a weekend to see at first hand some of the places you have visited. As a photographer you seem to have made a great hit with your attractive model as she seems very happy in all those photos. More than half the battle to get good images is having a rapport with your model. And finally, a question. Have you had a chance to review the Fuji 8mm f3.5?

Bomjour mon ami! Seems like a few quid more would get you the Sigma 18-50mm, which IMHO is all around a better lens, although without the reach of your 20-60. Granted, the big equalizer is the £155 you paid. Where was that?? If it were a bit sharper I might be tempted. Anyway, have a good rest of summer. Cheers 😊

For VIDEO, the kit lens is almost perfect. The range actually is perfect.

Smashing video!! Is that your own camera the s5? And what’s the focusing like on the s5 ? Is it as good as a t4 or t5? Because I’m interested in buying the s5ii

One of the most impressive kit lenses for FF. The focal length range just offers a lot, making it a really versatile lens to start out with. The other thing I find really tempting about the S5 is that it’s one of few cameras that offer the 65:24 aspect ratio for digital TX-1/XPan fun. Cropping in post can work, but the black lines of an in camera aspect ratio would make composition a lot easier.
