That semi hollow HB Tele in the intro song looks really nice! All the instruments look really nice! The song itself is pretty good too. Great example of good songwriting (I own the course and I recommend it to others). As for the three pedals in this series, well... I like the concept and the price and it will be interesting seeing the demo of the other two pedals. I wanted the Vox AC30 amp years ago, but the store didn't have those, so the guy sold me a Blackstar HT20, saying that I get the British and American one in that amp. Sure, it was a good amp, but it wasn't what I wanted. I still want the Vox amp. I've had some digital modellers and I never could make it sound good. I can't really be sure about this pedal either, I would have to try it out on my pedalboard. But I would need at least two of these pedals, because writing and recording music, I like to have some differences in sound/tone. Even though I want the DC pedal, I think the Combo Deluxe 65' is a better option because it's a bit more versatile. But it's not completely clean! That's just not right. By the way, I think they put the apostrophe on the wrong side of the number 65 on the pedal. :) Still, I don't think that any of the pedals in this series will replace my Boss IR-200. The IR-200 isn't perfect, I'm really struggling to get good tones from some of the amp models, but I've found three that I like and I'm just using the three presets that I made. I'm still chasing tone a little bit, but at least I'm also remembering to play.

Thanks for a great demo Henning - always a great watch! Regarding clean headroom. The knobs are modelled like the original amp. If you go past 2-3 on the real amp it also starts cranking and gets more alive (depending on guitar). We did consider creating a different knob response for this pedal platform, but in the end we decided to stay true to the original gain behavior. Keep the gain low and use the LEVEL to compensate. Hope this helps. /Michael
@EytschPi42
@EytschPi42 Жыл бұрын
Thank Michael! You can see in the video that I am trying and always come back to 5. Level is all the way up already. I would have had to give it more gain on the audio interface and that was already up quite a bit. It just felt like the tone was too weak in the lower range or of the gain knob. I‘ll experiment more!
@tcelectronic
@tcelectronic Жыл бұрын
@@EytschPi42 I see, so you would like to be able to compensate even more with the LEVEL knob. The weaker sounds is a compromise of not driving the pre's harder - just as on the original you will have to find the sweet spot. But yeah, try and experiment a bit. :) For what its worth, I do get some really glassy and full cleans when using my strat with this pedal. Thanks again. /Michael

@@tcelectronic Got mine today so these are first impressions. I agree that the gain knob reacts pretty similar to the original's volume knob but I also agree with Henning in that I would like more clean headroom. This becomes very apparent on headphones. To get an inspiring volume on them I need to have Level way up and Gain at 5 where chords already start to break up. I never used my original amp (1998 reissue) as high as 5 but still got a room or stage filling nice jazzy clean sound for the venues I used to play in. I noticed that the Out jack is much louder than the D.I. so maybe this is something that can be fixed with an alternative firmware for us cleaner players?

It would have made more sense if they labeled them Volume and Output Level. Most black and silverface amps start to break up between 4 and 6, so I think they did a pretty good job on the modeling aspect.

I'm with you on this Henning. My base needs to be completely clean, not edge of breakup. I know that's home to a lot of guitar players but not me. My Revv Dynamis 7-40 is the kind of clean I want. With my Strat, it only *starts* getting a little hair at 3 o'clock (7-8). My previous main amp was a 1989 red knobs Fender Twin. That had even more clean headroom (and was WAY louder ;). And both it and my Dynamis have round, chimey attacks and are perfect pedal platforms. This wouldn't be it for me. I also have an Helix and their Deluxe model is much cleaner than this. The vibrato channel model is a bit woollly in the lows and low mids but their Normal channel model is spot on. Stays clean past 5. True Fendery chime when clean. I wouldn't use it for dirt either but they did nail this one. I don't think hearing you play it here that TC nailed their version...

@@kcrknp You're right but, I mentioned it only because when I loaded the Deluxe model (nrm) in the Helix, it's set to 4.6 gain/drive out of the box and with my Strat that was pristine clean, no hair whatsoever and it sounds full but chimey. I didn't get the impression it was not "rich" enough as Henning mentions in his comment here. The normal channel Deluxe on the Helix starts having a bit of hair at a drive level of 6. On the vibrato channel it starts earlier. I assume the pedal emulate's the amp's channels the same way (gree=normal, red=vibrato) so this behaviour at least is consistent with the amp. Never played an actual Deluxe so I don't know how the real amp behaves, just the Helix model of it.

I might try one of these as I need a preamp for my dark sounding tube amp. My concern is, as is surprisingly often the case, it won't sound any better than the zoom g1four currently used a fender deluxe preamp with reverb. I've bought so many pedals now, liked them initially but ended up replicating almost exactly with a tweak of the zoom and selling them on again!
@neilwarden
@neilwarden Жыл бұрын
That's interesting about your Zoom. I just A/B'd the TC against my Zoom G6 which I consider a budget modeller. The TC has quite a captivating sound on first listen as the boingy reverb is good. Gain at 4 was a lot harsher than my Zoom and TC did not sound good with a gain pedal. I was considering using the TC at a small cabaret festival gig coming up which has a very tight turnaround. I'll take TC as backup but gonna try ZOOM G6 as I like the Jensen IR's that came as an upgrade and the send return with overdrive is very good. I may sell the TC in the future.

Well, you do have the gain on 5, and that's where an actual Deluxe starts to break up - but I can see that you have the Level on 10 already, so once you drop the Gain, you will also lose volume, and will have to add it at the interface/board input, possibly increasing the noise floor. Yeah, that's a problem.

I bought one for the purpose of having it do a clean neck pick-up Strat sound like Nile Rodgers and a Kenny Burrell jazz sound with a HB. It's not super clean at 4.5 but close enough even down to 4. I'm not getting any noise through my Audient EVO8 into Logic. I set channel 2 a little heavier on the gain, maybe 5 and it that was good for a bit of boost. I have been using a Tech 21 Blonde which DOES get me 100% clean and the Blonde sounds exceptional with a Fulltone Fulldrive in front..... all analog. The TC isn't as good with my FD. The TC isn't perfect but straight out of the tin it's pretty inspirational. I was in the market for a Princeton Tone Master but this will make do with my Headrush FRFR108. You say that it doesn't do clean, but not once during your video do you have the gain knob set below 5. It seems to me if you brought the drive knob down to 2 or 3, you would get a cleaner sound.

Cleaner yes, it also considerably thinner and quieter… it Just didn’t sound good there. They updated the firmware now so it has more headroom
