Thing is, Damon is a street cred kind of guy, very cunning and charms through words. In comparison to Stefan who is more book educated, I think human Damon would have much more success than human Stefan would. And lets say Damon did own a bar, I don’t imagine him being drunk all night, I imagine him being all sober just to see people getting drunk all night because its amusing to him. And he’s actually a great listener and very straight forward I can see people going to his bar just to get reality check from him. Also, its proven in Legacy by how “Generous Damon Salvatore is” that he’s actually doing very fine with money.

as much as i ship delena, whenever i picture elena starting a family and living her life, i always picture it with stefan. idk i love delena a lot but stelena has more stability and consistency needed in a long term relationship especially when human.

i feel like this is an argument they would have. I don't think damon no matter how much he loves elena would be a good human.

I feel Damon would simply thrive as a human being. No matter how strong or powerful he felt as a vampire , there was always a part of Damon that missed being human. That’s one of the many reasons he is so much in love with Elena because she makes him feel human and he loves that. Their life would be nothing like these visions that Stef showed . They would have a very happy , colorful and complete life together and I’m 100% sure about that. I hate how they always try to assume the worst case scenario when it comes to Damon. But Damon proves them wrong every time anyway.

I mean this is a pretty accurate variation honestly .. Elena didn't even look Damon's way, until she kept trying to turn him into a Stefan carbon copy. Which even Damon had to snap on her on multiple occasions reminding her that he's not Stefan.. And Damon has expressed multiple times he prefers being a vampire over the human he used to be. It's one thing for him to take the cure on his own, but it was injected into him. At least when he was a vampire, he willingly drunk Katherine's blood, he knew what he was getting himself into. It's not exactly a surprise, with a lifetime of all that grief, a lifetime of regret, and wishing you could change things. And considering the amount of enemies Damon made over the years, once you take the cure, the compulsion falls off. There's no way Damon would've been able to be human without meeting someone along the way who knew him/about him.

Even after seeing those cheap worst case scenarios, he’s still up to live his life with the love of his life. I don’t blame Stefan tho Elena told him to go rough on him but yet I do like this scene. It shows how Stefan is trying his best to brought out the bad in Damon, if it’s already there- he’s worried about his big brother and his bestie. And in the other hand, I liked how even when Stefan tried to change his brother’s mind , Damon kept on his. However! He went to Elena and made his mind too fast by taking the decision he’s fighting over at the first place. To prove them wrong and to assure it! S1 Damon is long gone. Having no doubts about his unknown future as a weak creature made me wonder- is he really the better man!? More like the man with the better self-development.

I always hated how Stefan was portraying his brother as this big loser in these situations. Why would Damon just be a drunk in these? Can't he have a job of his own? Some hobbies? An ability to have his life figured out without boose? Stefan has really been out there, always making his brother feel inferior to him...

honestly, can't even imagine giving up my immortality if i was damon, for a lot of reasons: 1. all the hunters, supernatural creatures and just people who damon hurt would come after him and kill him easily. 2.damon probably have enough savings for more than one lifetime, but i've never seen him doing actual work or even having a hobby. and he does drink a lot. what would he do with his life as a human? 3.damon is impulsive: remember how he killed jeremy? or literally every moment with elena? reckless is who he is, and you can't be that reckless as a human 4. he would miss being extra fast, strong and all the fast healing i think for damon being human is a terrible idea

Damon and Caroline are alike where their vampirism is concerned. They came into themselves and it made them strong. That's why Stefan didn't think Damon would take the cure, but Damon and Elena are twin flames. "This person belonged with her. He was her magic, her solace, her best-beloved. It didn’t matter how he’d gotten there, or what had happened before. He was her soul’s eternal mate." He wasn't gonna take the cure until he saw that couple. It's been his only desire in life... to find a love like that, and he has it with Elena. It's like what he described when he danced with her at the Mystic Falls pageant. It's as if the world fell away, and all he saw was this couple having everything that he wants with Elena. The mower was gone, the drummer was gone, the little boy with his ball was gone. Leave it to Stefan to make Delena look boring. Poor guy.

Okay what I hate about this is that literally Damon has said to a girl he was about to kill that he would give anything to be human again so honestly I think he'd be very happy married to Elena and I know that Elena said to show him no mercy but I don't think Damon would be very selfish in this cuz truly he's one of the most compassionate characters on the show if you look. He protected his brother throughout his brother's childhood saved everybody's asses more than once even though he's portrayed as the bad guy he's probably one of the goodest guys on the show also he's constantly being in Stefan's shadow if you look at things from Damon's point of view

Realistically without Damon’s character development, yes this would be what would happen. Over the course of TVD he changed and after falling more deeply in love with Elena he eventually began to realize what it was like to be human. He wanted to be happy with Elena as a human. I’m sure they had fights and breaks (like any human couple) but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they were unhappy. Legacies hints that both Elena and Damon are happy, and I believe that. Even if Elena and Damon were to break up they’d always find a way back to one another which is shown in the 6th season.

I agree with Stefan 100percent that him n Elena are soulmates and that's exactly Damon would behave after drinking and killing for centuries but it's implied in legacies that he doesn't and becomes ideal hubby and daddy of 4 kids.

No I mean it was sad. Damon wouldn't be like this in the future and he isn't. When he says watch it he like says to him " there's a line. Don't push past that line ". He is actually a good person and I'm sure they would have gotten into that life pretty well. It's also nice how in the end he actually does choose to be with her even after everything choosing to take the cure. Even if he doesn't get it. It's pretty good.
