Dr Dee is 18 tracks of songs and music inspired by the life of John Dee, mathematician, polymath and advisor to Elizabeth I. Described by Albarn as 'strange pastoral folk', Dr Dee is a fitting companion to the end of another Elizabethan age. The album combines Albarn's voice with early English choral and instrumentation alongside modern, West African and Renaissance sounds.
Dr Dee was recorded late last year in Albarn's West London studio and also in Salford with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. The album was mixed by Valgeir Sigursson in Reykjavik.

we can all agree that damon albarn for the modern age is kind of what john dee was for the elizabethan epoch.

Can we please appreciate how deeply spiritually erotic this album is? The stage that the opera took place on was in a shape of heptagram, 7-handed seal, which is associated with Kabbalistic Netzah, Venus, and is used as a seal of Babalon. John Dee has worked with the spirit Madimi, who got him to practice sexual magick and swap wives with Edward Kelly. Later her mother, Babalon (who some might know as Whore of Babylon) came to teach and guide him. Don't be fooled, these were no sweet Christian angels that taught him the basis of what later became a Golden Dawn, most famous order of ceremonial magick.

The fact that you take John Dee's name and make an opera about him doesn't make your music good. Damon being so pretentious about doing this.
