Super that you are re-using good OSB and using biscuits and adhesive to create your floating floor. No swimming pool here, but (as I’m in western Canada) I’ve got an ice rink in the winter. As I have clearance outside, I plan to excavate past where the framing and concrete meet and install a membrane (and maybe a spray barrier?) and backfill. Any advice would be welcome.

Hi rob.. just a quick one... there is a much cheaper option! Just wanted to share with you. It is called synthaprufe, it’s a liquid rubber tanking solution, it is painted onto the floor and base of the wall in one directional brush strokes and left for a couple of hours, then a second coat is applied in the opposite direction. Once dry it is completely watertight! Similar to the membrane that you put down only this is a fraction of the cost at around £12 a tin. 👌🏼

Cheers. Am thinking about turning my shed into workshop. I was thinking about maybe putting insulation like PIR boards or something down before putting down a vapour barrier and plywood. But not sure how to manage the elevated floor level, and the door area. Bit tricky for me to open the door if I am knocking off a board. The door is wood, I could cut a bit off the bottom but then the insulation would be exposed. Would love a suggestion if you could comment back

Green Videos For a Gym (and if cost allows) I would suggest Liquid DPM followed by a self levelling screed. Then you can simply lay 40mm thick PIR insulation followed by your chosen flooring - OSB/underlay/finished floor (laminate perhaps?) If laminate the screed will provide the required level tolerances. Final result will be a dry and warm gym. This is what I am currently doing for an outdoor art workshop I am build in place of an existing 12x8 shed(being demolished) I don't know if there is a DPM under the existing slab hence the liquid DPM.

I am currently doing my garage to gym now. The garage is sunk into the ground and the front and back are on different levels so water naturally comes in through the bricks during rainfall. I have used tanking slurry on the brick work which has helped but not completely fixed the issue, SO... I am going to use DPM on the inside and put down interlocking foam mats. My question is.. how did you attach the DPM to the walls? I was thinking of using a bit of gripfill and duck tape. Im not a builder by any stretch so not sure if that's adequate. Advice appreciated.

It will just sit on the Service the best thing to do would be to put down scaffold boards or something like that where you can leave Gaps so that the floor can breathe it the only option. Also definitely use batons so the floor is raised off the ground.
