He builds rigs for countless pro players, but what’s on Daniel’s own personal pedalboard?
Life too short for long KZfaq videos? Please see the ‘Interesting bits and go-to sections’ information below.
Welcome to the show! In this video Daniel takes us through the choices and build process for his latest main pedalboard. It’s an interesting insight into the mind of somebody who spends his working life building rigs for pro players: how does that experience translate to what he chooses for his own board?
As you might guess (if you’re a regular viewer) the board is a mixture of traditional and modern; old-school analogue drive sections, tape delay and modulation, augmented with digital delay, reverb, pitch shifting and granular looping… controlled via MIDI where it makes sense.
It’s an epic board with epic tones.
Enjoy the show!

I worked on offshore lobster boats for much of the 80s.Have to say myself and all the men on the docks looked like Dan,does on this episode. The boats were part of the the lobster fleet in Newport RI. I used to take a cheep guitar and a twenty watt amp out and on calm days I would go out on the big empty deck when there were no lobster traps on board and crank the amp and Play for the Sea Gods. A hundred miles out at sea blasting over the waves. At night with the sky full of stars blazing,it was an almost religious experience. Keep rocking that look Danny. Mick your always inspiring period. As always thank you for another stellar episode ⚡️🖖🏽⚡️

@@joshduym7185 Hey Josh ,Steve here.I lived in and around Southern New England from 1970 till 2000 . I lived in both Newport and for the most part in Jamestown RI. Where have you lived or live. Are you a commercial fisherman? I also got into sailing, owned a 18 foot Hobi Cat and made friends with people who had sailed Narragansett Bay from the time they were children during WW 2 and people that sailed around the world single handed!! There has been cutting edge ship building around Newport from colonial times. I got to delve into the high end yacht builders and racing sailboats at the time. The America’s Cup races were held in Newport from the time of the robber barons. I was at the dock when Ted Turner tied up after winning the cup. The debate over the most effective hull design is as unending as the guitar rabbit holes about Fender and Gibson I don’t know the guy you asked if I knew..I have been away from the fishing industry since 1988 when I met my wife at a Dead concert in Providence RI. The fishing industry jobs at the time was considered the most dangerous job you could have. I wanted to have a long marriage so I took a job at the local wastewater plant and became the chief operator for about 4 years till I blew out a couple of lower spinal discs. Well dude what’s new with you. BTW I met the whole Grateful Dead family in 1971 just saying cause you said you were a guitar nerd take care of yourself ⚡️🖖🏽⚡️

I guess Dan doesn't need the chorus pedal given he has a flanger, but also the H9 can do different detune style choruses part from the digitally modelled variety that are also on board. Also its lovely to hear you two play together as your styles and strengths are so different, but compliment each other so well. Lets be honest that's why playing with other humans is so great because we are all good at different things. This sunk in more to me when we had our first band rehearsal in 14 months a couple of days ago. Take care guys!

And here I thought Finland has a cold weather even in the summer at times, but I've never considered wearing a beanie in the start of a summer! The outfit looks good and uniform though! I feel like Zenith is gonna become a whole episode, very intriguing studio type routing. Never a huge fan of pitch shifts outside glitchy digitech whammy, but H9 does have that legendary Eventide pitch detune from 80's! The 8 cents (perhaps also 11 cents) detune that Eddie and studio guys loved.

Tears in my eyes with the morning coffee. I didn't expect welling up, but it was already so beautiful that Mick didn't have to do much more than make sounds to push me over the edge

We need a new word for today. I vote for smörgasmic, as in a smorgasbord of cosmic bliss (PG13 definition). Fantabulous show, some smörgasmic tones in there that were absolutely divine. *That jam!* Also, congrats on that new logo! My takeaways: 1) I absolutely need me a G3. It really “ties the room together.” Not to mention every time I think I understand it’s capabilities, some new great thing is unveiled! 2) All of the pedals Dan chose are spot on. Just incredible sounds from each and every setting. He truly is a sorcerer of sound - the Tone Whisperer. 3) I don’t usually speak in the name of others but we -the world- need you guys to give us more instances of you both playing together. Absolute magic. 4) *THAT JAM!*

Dan, I love your pedalboard. I have strived for years now (and thousands of $$$) since the channel came out, to explore the sounds you guys get on the show. I think you guys have finally reached the point where the pedals on your board have reached an unobtainium level for me. I love it, but I'll have to find pedalboard examples with obtainable pedals to try and find new sounds with. It's been fun watching things progress over the years. We've gone from a $120 OCD pedal, now to a $800 Tomatotone. I hope maybe you guys will start showing more stuff that 'us common folk' can look at and explore. Love you guys and your show, and thanks for sharing your new board!

And I imagine a pedalboard consisting of little more than a boost or a compressor. Love Robert Cray - if ever anyone needs an example of the complete package in blues today, it’s got to be RC. I can’t think of another blues artist who excels at all three frontman skills: singer, songwriter and player.

That's a wild setup Dan. I'm glad you're here to show us plebs what is possible. Impressive! I can't wait to hear the fruits of your labor in some esquisit renderings of tonal excellence and jubilation. Pushed from the either, through the flesh, and unto the ear...for all to regail in harmonious love and rejoice for generations to come.

Thanks .... I’ve now purchased a camoflange, eventide and el Capistan due to following for a year.... you guys are killing me. But really appreciate the work you do to sort out the massive number of pedals out there and help define the missing pieces of the all encompassing puzzle for my sound.

Can I ask if we will get another bass show at some point as the last was brilliant. Cheers guys from novichok central 👍

OMG! Dan was going "crazy" and I was LMAO for an hour! Simply because he looked like having a wonderful time every time he played a couple of chords. From my pov clever use of reverb, delay and modulation sets the mood in today's music. Beautiful people expressing themselves✌️☮️ BTW! Really good "jams" you had!
