Joey, have you styled yourself after Paul Davids, or has he styled himself after you? Or are you brothers from another mother? Either way, it would warm the cockles of MY heart to see you guys do a duet together on KZfaq, both with your full pedalboards on display in all their glory along with your facial hair beautifully groomed and shiny. Viewers can vote: whose pedalboard is bigger? Whose beard is sexier? :-) All this is with full respect for both you and David's tasteful playing and contributions to making our world just a little bit better for it.

I think they’re both awesome! But I think you could pick up a £5.99 kids guitar and it would sound great! 🎉

25 years ago I was praying about applying for a church in Scotland. I had "The Potter's Hand" on loop and through that whole process so it was sung at my ordination service. All these years later I am still there and we are singing Darlene's songs. Thank God for your musical family, what a blessing you have been in my life and in the lives of countless others.

Dan, I watch each and every episode of TPS from my home here in Austin, Texas. Often times, I subject my mostly non- musical wife to some episodes. When I saw the caption for this episode, I happened to mention to my wife that your sister, a well known worship leader, was part of the show. She immediately said, you mean the Darlene that I know? Absolutely! Cheers! again for such a great episode! You guys are THE best!

Finally listened to all the episode, pretty amazing. So cool that he let you play his amp and that y'all were able to share the playing experience with others.

I did not realize Darlene was your sister Dan. She is one of the most influential Christian song writers of all time. Wow. That is so cool.

I just built myself a custom amp and i have a bassman/plexi circuit in my amplifier and i could not get the Bright channel to give me any natural overdrive. i fiddled with the tubes many times, changed them out for different brands, 12aX7's from new sensor and New Old Stock. My amp was too clean to start with but now its sounding pretty cool. I think the safest case is that the tubes in the Sovtek MIG 50 do not have enough gain. You need like tubes that register over 100% to get good overdrive. If you only get good cleans you probably have 12AXB's not 12AX7A's. A's are better than B.

The beauty of being in a small church where it's often just myself playing acoustic with a singer (and sometimes an over-enthusiastic teenage drummer). So easy.

OMG!!! A taco is made with soft tortilla can be corn mainly for central and south Mexico or flour more popular in the north of Mexico and hard shell taco is a US disgrace to Mexican culture. And any other country in Latin America. Dan and Mick I highly advise for you to watch the Netflix series that talk about tacos!!! Taco Chronicles.

Yet another tragic story on the life of a musical genius. And yes, Alexander Dumble was no doubt a musical genius: As mysterious and enigmatic as the otherworldly tone of the amplifiers he built. Respect and RIP. Thanks for posting this footage.

I'm also big on the Hendrix and fuzz. Would like to suggest a Roger Mayer pedal exclusive show. He was basically the very first boutique pedal maker for sure. Would be great to have him on. And have you and Dan demo his offerings.

Dan and Mick! Love you guys. Being a huge SRV fan? I thought that a tube screamer is the only overdrive I needed. I have an Analogman TS 808 silver mod and a Maxon 808. Thanks to watching you guys for a while? I got the idea of getting myself a more transparent OD. And after much researching online through the forums I stumbled into the Barber LTD pedals (low gain OD). I first bought the gain changer but I wasn't happy with it. Mainly because it sounded like a pedal. So I went for the older versions and boy!!!! Happy days! What a great Overdrive pedal. There are different versions of them in the EQ section. Some having more/flatter mids.I liked the first one that I bought so much that I bought a second and different version. I have the LTD SR (secret recipe) and an LTD silver. They sound fantastic through my blackface amps. They have an internal trimmer pot for bass and presence (set and forget). Brilliant stuff. I know that you guys demoed the gain changer. But was hoping to see a transparent OD pedal shootout including the Barber stuff? And of course this led to others. Klon clones (2 Mythical Overdrives) and a Wampler Belle OD 😂. Great stuff! Cheers mates

I really mess with input impedance as this can subtly or even radically change the harmonics of the amp selected. Fuzz can be tamed somewhat too with it. Helix has it as other devices and some pedals are introduced with it.

Dan, I’m really appreciative of you being willing to do this one. I feel like a lot of church guitar players watch the show, as a bit of a creative outlet that we don’t usually get in the church world. Yes, I do believe that a worship musician’s first responsibility is to serve the church and create the atmosphere for corporate worship, which does not change. However, I do feel at times that we get called sinners for expressing our creative capabilities. Every worship guitarist has expressed an interest in turning up the amp on Sunday night, or using some crazy effect for a specific part of a song on a record, just to break up the monotony, because we’re HUMANS. What I appreciate about your sister and the artists she has worked with, is that they do allow for that, in the right context. This video does allow for both sides of the canyon to have a bridge that you can cross over, without fear of falling through.

A great video, thanks! A question to Mick: How did you manage to make the clean DRRI sound so sweet, warm and round? I compared this video to your older videos using the DRRI (especially the one comparing with the DRRI with the Tone Master DR) - in that older video(s) the DRRI sounds less round, less mellow, more stringy etc. What changed? Is it just the guitar, or is it more the playing? It sounds like you spent a lot of time playing that amp, looking for the sweet spots, working on the picking attack, phrasing etc. When I bought the DRRI I hoped to get the sweet, round tones, but I could never get there (even at band volumes). In the end I sold the DRRI and stayed with my trusty Hot Rod Deluxe (IV), because it was easier for me to get warm tones out of the HRD. So maybe here's a topic for a show - how to make the DRRI sound sweet and warm? Or maybe a comparison between the HRD and DRRI?

Hello! A few things perhaps. First is that the amp has been absolutely HAMMERED for a couple of years. It gets turned up to 10 and played flat out every Experience Day. I've no doubt that has, erm, worn it in a bit. Second, I think we used to play it on about 3-4 which in this particuylar amp is very dull and lifeless. We've since discovered it doesn't come alive until about 4-5 and ends up sounding way warmer and more harmonically rich... so that's where we use it. FInally, our recordig chain has improved significantly then now with an almost completely analogue workflow, apart from the computer in the middle. Our recordings are markedly better now as a result. Hope that helps!
