Want to do king pin maintenance but don't want to rip your whole spindle and axle apart?...here's the next best thing. This method will allow you to easily replace the common wear parts such as the spring and bushing under the caps which cause the tires to lean slightly increasing your inside tire wear. Replace the parts within an hour on each side!
Stay tuned for more videos!

I literally just had to completely replace the kingpin bearings on my truck and also changed the top bushings. my lower bearings were toast, didn't have any play but did start making a snapping noise while turning the wheel. before I changed the lower bearings my truck pulled to the ditch even tho alignment said everything was fine now that I changed them it drives straight

Weird things happen when king pins go bad! That'll be another thing I should check separately. Could have pulled the lower king pin out and check the shaft and bearing/race but usually those tend to be okay from what I've seen.

@@OvensGarage pulling that lower kingpins was an absolute pain on my truck just rust welded into place. But had to be done as that Bering was basically non existent on the driver's side. Yeah they usually don't go bad but I don't think my front axle was maintained very well.

So with the no load on the front end. The springs are taking up the slop. My truck has 355k miles on it. It has an 8 ft fisher plow. I gotta replace my bushings. I thought maybe my axles were bent. Know I know my bushings are spanked. Can you list part numbers please. Thanks.

I just finished replacing all the kingpin parts, they were Yukon Gear and Axel. After i installed my kit i was doing some more research and found this kit from crane axel. It deletes the spring and replaces it with another bushing, its supposed to last longer than a spring rebuild. Just something else to look into

They wear when you steer as well. I find most trucks need them at about 100K miles

What are your thoughts on spring eliminator kits?
@OvensGarage
@OvensGarage Жыл бұрын
I haven't had much experience with them but I'm sure they work well for some applications like offroading. I would suspect the ride might be a bit more harsh but I'm not entirely sure. The factory spring replacements are cheap and original that's why I went with them.

Is there a reason you didn't go with bronze bushings?

@@OvensGarage I figured that was the case. The plastic ones really held up well for being original
