Dana White is a complicated character.
And I say ‘character’ because I have no doubt that his role in the UFC is based purely around the company - and almost every word that comes out of his mouth is laced with the UFC’s ulterior motives and tactics.
And you can learn a lot about how Dana operates through these five interactions with some of his most well-known fighters, and how they played out.
He’s a promoter by trade, yes - but that doesn’t mean that Dana’s sole focus will always be on pushing these athletes and their brands.
No, the UFC is the brand - the fighters, in a lot of cases, are far more expendable.
So let’s just jump in - and dive into Dana White’s approach - as seen in four different examples.

22 nations that either have a strong enough fighting heritage in MMA to include, or they just seemed too big to leave off.
We’re going to look at the nation each fighter has chosen to represent primarily - so guys who have several nationalities either through their place of birth or parents, will be whittled down to one nation of eligibility.
Some country’s that just didn’t produce enough great talents were left off - especially if the MMA scene there produced their one star as an outlier.

You forgot to mention that Dana refused to wrap the belt around Francis after beating Gane. He just ran backstage because " he was busy". This dude is so petty

Very cowardly way of dragging that beef on. But I’m pretty sure he was WELL aware Francis was going to leave and not only that but to leave by leg hugging their biggest French mma star. I’m sure Dana was pissed 🤩🤩

@skindred1888 it's public knowledge the ufc was trying to make jones vs Francis as soon as he beat gane. They kept upping the offer to get the superfight but the man had other plans. That's some pretty hard dodging

@@HauntzTV it's public knowledge that Dana called Jones scared to fight Francis the entire time Francis was fighting. All the time. You get that Francis was trying to get out of his contract like 4 fights before game right ? Yea, and Francis kept saying he didn't care about the money, it was the conditions. Dunno why you're sticking up for Dana. He's the UFC don king, that's all he is. You're honestly just beleiving Dana's bullshit, his words are only supposed to work for actual morons. Why...for the couple of years Jones was out gaining weight...did he blast him by saying he was scared to fight Francis the entire time ? Then changed his tune and said Francis is scared when he was trying to get out of the UFC waaayyy before Jones was back ? Silly little man

@woddq he was willing to fight jones but he wanted to be allowed to box. the ufc has done this for another fighter but didnt want to do it for him.

He's has his qualities but overall I think he's bad for the sport. Bad from the perspective of the fighters who don't bend the knee and bad for the fans who see the sport as more than just a blood sport. He basically punishes fighters for not getting brain trauma. Fighter's should be allowed to fight how they choose to fight and not be punished if they win "booringly" as he would put it. The pressure he puts on Fighter's to take fights even when injured. Acts as if it always benefits the fighter but it doesn't. If you're injured and take a fight and loose badly. You could end up irrelevant ruining you're career.

ive been telling people that dana is the most famous figure in the ufc. its not like this in other mma organizations. most of them stay out of the limelight but dana seeks the attention from the media. but the ufc went from promoting fights and fighters a long time ago. it is promoting the brand

Conor is probably the only figure in the UFC now more famous than Dana. His popularity and fame is likely why the UFC doesn't want megastars like him anymore as they become too influential, they can't be controlled in negotiations.

Both Shamrock's had their problems with the UFC, Frank moreso though. As the UFC scrubbed him from the history books and snubbed him from a long overdue Hall of Fame induction. Its very likely Frank Shamrock won't get inducted until Dana is no longer UFC President, which could be decades away.

the fighters definitely deserve to get paid more and deserve better health-care, but most of the fighters aren't these good and honorable warriors that MMA fans believe they are, I'd go as far as saying most of them range from not good to just bad people outside of fighting, I think only like 20%-30% of them are relatively normal and good enough people and this isn't to justify how greedy Dana and his bosses are but I think that's part of why he doesn't respect them enough to treat them better and sees them as fuel for UFC as a money making machine, he knows these people way better than we do and he doesn't respect them, not that he's in any place to judge anybody but I just don't buy that most UFC fighters are just decent people

What does “being a good person”, according to you, have to do with getting paid properly for work done? Are there morality clauses in the contracts? If a person isn’t a good person, they should be payed less for the same work?

he's a greedy and bad person that would rather spend hundreds of thousands gambling than paying his fighters better but you can't deny that he's entertaining and has done a relatively decent job with the UFC he's also not a genius as some of his fanboys would have you believe and how he's so behind the times that he thinks slap fighting is anything special shows that he's not that intelligent, slap fighting died years ago and it only became popular for a short time because Moist Critical made it popular with how huge his channel is and his funny commentary made it watchable, on its own its very stupid and boring

@@skindred1888remember when the ufc sold for $4 billion? Dana owned 10% of the ufc back then and thus got $400 million. Other then that he is a ufc employee who gets a salary just like the other employees. He does not get any of the ppv money nor does he get any money that they save on not paying fighter what they are worth.
