WHAT IS IT LIKE TO TRAVEL FULL-TIME (is this the end?)

What is it really like to travel full-time? We have been on the road for only just over a month now, but are getting a taste of some harsh realities of living life on the road. Could this be the end? Sit down with us as we give a short recap of this last month and some of the things we have learned as we sit on the beautiful Praia da Cordaoma! Afterwards, we visit the Fortress of Sagres and explore the epic peninsula. Portugal never ceases to impress!

I'd love to hear about the back end work when you're on the move to a new location. Silly things like, Are you studying what road signs they have? How do you get the correct currency to shop around? Take us grocery shopping so we can see the shelves, layouts, how it is in other countries stores. Hit up some local farmers markets, vendor markets and take us with. Is there a person you follow for traveling meal ideas or does your stomach lead you?

You guys should have a travel show on National Geographic or The Travel Channel. You are so entertaining, so fun to watch. Dan brings us the info and Michelle is the comedy relief. We feel the excitement you feel at each location. And the best part is the love you have for each other and for what you are doing. We feel that too❤️❤️🌏

Sorry for the lengthy comment! The vlogs are extremely entertaining to watch, especially as a Portuguese! You did a fantastic job of expressing what makes Portugal unique! These are the suggestions that you requested. Beginning with food makes sense because it is the fundamental basis of all good things. If you ever visit Lisbon, you must try the original bakery's Pastéis de Belém. Despite the fact that it is essentially the same as the pastel de nata you have already eaten, the original recipe's ingredients are still kept a secret and have never been made public, so they were the Pastel de Belém's trendsetters! Oh, you're in for a treat if you go to Porto! It's the best place in the country to eat Francesinha, so you should try it. Café Santiago is among my top recommendations. Sardines on the grill (don't worry, they're delicious), codfish-we have a saying that there's a codfish recipe for every day of the year. There are countless other recipes to try, so do so. Bacalhau com Natas (cod with cream), Bacalhau à Brás (cod with French fries), Bacalhau com broa (cod with traditional bread), and many more come to mind immediately. We are familiar with the fish because the Portuguese consume the vast bulk of the cod consumed worldwide. Try pastéis de bacalhau and pataniscas de bacalhau as well. Lisbon is an excellent location for them. Traditional southern dishes are lighter, whereas true comfort food is found in the north. You can try queijo da serra and enchidos like alheira, chouriço, linguiça, salpicão , and so many more! We're also recognized for our cold meats and cheeses. And, because we have so many delicious pastries, I urge you to try some of them. Portuguese cuisine has a rich heritage! Calories don't matter here! I apologize if this comes across as biased, but I feel more comfortable recommending places that I am already familiar with. The waterways in my hometown of Aveiro, also known as the Portuguese Venice, are a fantastic place to explore and ride on a moliceiro, a traditional boat. I'll now mention my hometown. If you get the chance, visit Sever do Vouga near Aveiro. We're known for our blueberries, but the views are simply breathtaking! You should definitely go to Porto's downtown because it is very fascinating. The Dom. Luis Bridge, Clérigos Tower, Aliados Avenue, S. Bento Train Station, Majestic Café, Lello Library, Cathedral, and many others are all worth seeing. But I must say that Portugal's most valuable resource is its people, and you will not find anyone more sympathetic, outgoing, or eager to help than we are. The most important piece of advice I can give is to occasionally diverge from the tourist path and visit lesser-known attractions; all it takes to create a spectacular experience! Many of us are also fluent in English! So I'd like to thank you for choosing my country so early in your adventure. I was already a regular viewer, but now the vlogs make me even happier!

I went to Europe alone for five weeks and one thing I learned was that for every two days of nonstop running around, bus catching, train-hopping, seeing attractions etc, I needed an afternoon off just to chill and relax. You get sensory overload! Plus I had my own camera equipment, a lot of it, three lenses... shots TONS of pictures. Afternoon or day off to chill and do laundry and just be me. You are so tan!!!

I'm a couple days late but I would love to see a little bit of the "everyday" stuff - your favorite snacks and foods that you buy at the grocery store, what meals you like to cook at the places you stay, maybe lunches/meals you pack for the day so you don't have to eat out, etc. Someone else mentioned they would like to see your grocery trips, visits to farmers markets or local vendors. I second that!

"Easy" days are the best. Time to truly relax and plan for next discoveries. As another commenter said, the Travel .channel really should have you as roving reporters. You find out such interesting facts about places we've never been and bring the history to reality. Makes the vlogs even better, if that were possible! Call it "The Travels of Dan and Shell" or "Meandering Madsens" or, whatever. I'd watch it, wait a minute, I already do! Enjoy, have fun and keep safe.

You can see so much in europe by train. Enjoy yourselfs!

I've loved seeing all those beautiful places along with you, although I'm so glad I didn't have to sleep in a tent on the Kilimanjaro. ;-). I can't wait to see all your coming adventures. I'm very curious to see Ireland. I really think you should visit Pompey, Rome and Herculaneum I Italy, and that you should visit the isles Rhodes and Crete. We have recently visited Scotland. We've been to Edinburgh and went up in the Highlands for a couple of days. That was spectacular. Enjoy your journey. Love from Holland.

My son, 35, traveled the globe for many years. He stayed in hostels and always made sure he was giving back to the communities by making sure his purchases were local and not through agency's which btw gain profits for eateries and stores shopped that takes away from the locals. He finally ended up setting some roots in Berlin Germany and is quite happy. He did say one of his favorite places was Rishikesh, The Beatles stayed there with the monks. He originally went with a family group to a friends wedding in India, traveling around on a 14 day excursion where he visited the Taj Mahol. He also spent a week in India at a elephant camp where he was assigned a young elephant and trained daily how to care for ALL her needs. They were the best of friends in the end. He stood in the middle of the colloseum in Rome which he dreamed of doing since he was a young boy. He spent a year in Columbia in a farm exchange for room and board so he could have days to explore then worked a front desk at a hostel and he taught English for trade of Spanish lessons in a small community. There's so many things to do and great opportunities locally to help cut costs and enjoy travel when your not in a hurry and willing to give up luxury.

I am easily motion sick and cannot ride on trains, boats, planes. No travel for me. Thank you. You two make the most beautiful videos of places I'll never be able to see. I was just thinking about your mental health. Always uprooting, unknown, really bonds a couple. Loved hearing about the realization that having stuff isn't necessary. Having to plan your groceries so you don't get stuck hauling excess around. The balance of enjoying local cuisine and home food prep. How are you walking these long paths and cliffs in sandals!? Ah! Lol I'm more of a forest gal. Find some glowing fungus in the night of a forest and video that. Keep taking your time.

I usually have an idea of what I want to see each day, but allow for the unexpected things along the way that sometimes are far better than what I planned. My mothers parents traveled the world too. My grandmother always said Portugal was her favorite. But she also loved Australia. It seems from Portugal, to head over to Spain. Seems for an “easy” transfer to your next journey. I myself being from Irish Catholic Roots I think Portugal and Spain are predominantly Catholic citizens. I’m so glad you found a ward for you to attend Sunday Church. I took a World religion course in college. I wanted to get base knowledges of the predominant world religions. I thought it was a great way to meet and understand and a source point to converse with people I meet along my life’s journey. Did you know Fatima Portugal is famous spot for Catholics? May 13 1917 there was apparition of Mary there. She visited three poor children from May-October. It’s famous. Not sure where Fatima is located in Portugal. Sorry I can’t help. I think you should go to Spain next! Have fun and be safe.

Remember that the Azores island and Madeira is part of Portugal too and has different experiences. I would encourage you to esperience the amazing and delicious gastronomy of Portugal.

I love everything y’all are filming and capturing for our viewing pleasure 🥰 I love how you cover different foods and aspects of the food journey in each place and always try different modes of transportation. It must be hard figuring things out every time you land in a new place, but that is the beauty of the freedom you have and wow what an awesome world. Keep winging it and I’ll keep watching‼️

Please show more of the things you see from your perspective. I love the fab drone footages, Dan is a genius videographer, but I would like to see also what you see from your point of view. I'm a little behind watching your videos because I stopped following your channel and only re-discovered it recently.

Loving the travel blogs. Would like to see more video of actual meals and even grocery shopping in other countries. Also, just the everyday details like laundry and watching movies or tv or internet. How do you get mail and pay bills? Dr and dentist appointments. Satisfying when you crave that food from home, etc. You’d be amazed at the everyday things that we viewers are curious about. Do you call the family once a week?
