It was a sad day in August 1977....I was too young to remember, but his passing affected a generation of people around the world....he was a kind and generous soul who did a lot of great things for music during his time and still has a massive following today. I began listening to his music as a teenager when I should've been into the mainstream music of my time. There will never be anyone like him or even come close to him as a music icon....I'm humbled you were a little emotional during your reaction when you talked about his death.....this is the kind of effect he had on many people....long live The King.

My mum was a massive Elvis fan, she was a part of the beginning of the Australian chapter of the fan club back in the sixties and seventies, the one that got Elvis a massive memorial here in the oldest cemetery in Melbourne, it's like a smaller sized mausoleum and it's so grand you'd imagine Elvis was actually buried there, and when I was a child i thought he actually was because mum took me there every year. She met her first husband in the fan club, and ironically I was born the year Elvis died. That always stuck with her. That the worst thing in her life, and the greatest thing, all happened in 77

Favorite line “If you can’t find a partner use a wooden chair”. In these early days, when he was on TV they weren’t allowed to show him from the waist down. Yea, had he lived (and didn’t get fat and load up on drugs at the end), he could’ve produced so much greatness. But fame can take a toll on people. It did him. 😢

A lot of that was his less than scrupulous so-called spiritual advisor and doctors and the biggest douchebag of them all, his manager. All along the way they encouraged him to be on whatever uppers or downers he needed to be on so that they could just push him tirelessly and make as much money as they could off of him. It's such a tragic story.

LOVE your reaction. :):) And you're so right, he did die way too young. I believe with all my heart that if Elvis hadn't lost his mother at such a young age, he would still be alive today. Just a heads up...there are haters & trolls out there who spend their lives focusing on the negative of people & sickly still seem to focus on his death only but TRUE & LOYAL Elvis fans like myself, knew that just like us, HE WASN'T PERFECT...they know that he was a selfless, loving, giving & decent human being who loved his family & everyone around him. He gave to numerous charities, loved his fans deeply & cared just as much for the people who worked for him. He gave money to people on the street he didn't even know, his generosity knew no race, creed or color. He's adding more & more fans everyday (young & old) & we're so grateful for yet another one. You have excellent taste in music. ;) More video suggestions..."Polk Salad Annie" (Live), "Suspicious Minds" (Live), "Walk a Mile in my Shoes" (Live), "How Great Thou Art", & "Peace in The Valley" are just a few of my favorites but then again, I love them all, lol!!

Elvis had 30 #1 hit singles. The artist who eventually broke that record is Paul McCartney, many years after the Beatles broke up. Paul now holds the record for being on more #1 hits than any other artists however, he never had a #1 hit using only his own name!

It's from the movie Jailhouse Rock. This is a music video he made in the movie, so that people would see convicts and ex-convicts as human beings. It was a 'fun' song just to make it easy for other folks to swallow that bitter reality. In the movie, he beat up a guy who was abusing a woman at a bar, he got thrown in jail for 6 months, jail turned him into a cruel person (he was sweet when he first got to jail), and then a life-changing event makes him a good person again. He definitely didn't rock out during the part where he was actually in jail. He was mostly just crying.

"Elvis the Pelvis". He was on a TV show (Ed Sullivan) and they wouldn't show his body from the waist down. Some say Elvis was so big because he was the first white man who sounded black. I was never a big fan but Elvis was very instrumental in the progression of American Popular Music.

We all have our limits. 42 was old for Elvis. He was 28 when he met the Beatles who came to his house when they hit America because they were such huge fans. It wasn't a mutual feeling, as Elvis was fearing the world was moving on without him. Six years later on his '68 Comeback Special" he was re-born and continued to do what he did best. Perform in all his Elvi glory......

So great to see you reacting to one of the rock and roll 🐐! Another old classic artist to look into would be Buddy Holly, who was taken way too early. He was only 22 years old when he died in a plane crash along with some other big stars of the day. This became known as the day the music died, which inspired Don Mcleans classic song "American Pie". That'll Be the Day or OH Boy would be a great place to start.

She wrote that song in the 70s and Whitney Huston sang later on and turned into a ballad. She has a beautiful red dress on in the video. The second song you must react to is "Jolene". You will love it, what a great heartfelt story she tells. I look forward to your reactions always . Love and peace, Valerie

Early Elvis rocks! The audio sounds so clear I think it might be the studio version of the song overlaid on top of the footage from the movie, the ending bit excepted. I remember the day Elvis died. My aunt came over to cry about it with my mom. I was eight or nine at the time, so I couldn't understand what the fuss was about. Beyond "Jailhouse Rock", check out "Heartbreak Hotel", "Hound Dog", "Blue Suede Shoes", "That's All Right", "Mystery Train", "Don't Be Cruel", "All Shook Up", and "Blue Moon" among his other hits from the 1950's. Elvis dropped "Little Sister" in 1961 after he came back from the army, but it rocks too!

Thanks, Twon -- this is a great video of young Elvis -- and those "moves" were part of the reason that in his early TV appearances, they would only show him from above the waist -- "Elvis the Pelvis" -- was considered vulgar... lol (BTW. seems that he knew how to work a pole!) If you appreciate awesome dance moves (and I think you do) -- you will be blown away by the Nicholas Brothers... this is in a movie also featuring Cab Calloway -- great singer, conductor and also a dancer in his own right... when you have time and inclination, I hope you will review this: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lZ6peqqlu7HWdGw.html

Yeah man, late to the party. But yeah it's from an early movie and it's hilarious cuz he is so young here. I don't know how old you are but I think it was like 21 or maybe 22 here and it was after those 1956 appearances on the Milton Berle show and another one I can't remember where he just went nuts I think doing hound dog and then unexpectedly even to the band, when it was supposed to be over he just started extending it but in half time so it was slow and the band followed along and then he really had a chance to show off some really for the time scandalous stuff which today would be absolutely nothing. And it caused a huge backlash. I mean the younger crowd and even some older people loved it but there was a very kind of conservative and also racist backlash, and they even used the N word and describing his behavior and so when he went on at Sullivan later that same year and I think he's all of 20 years old at this point and they would only film him from the waist up on any of the songs where they thought he might start doing that. Utterly ridiculous. But that was a different time for sure in the mid 1950s. So anyway not only at the time did he want to get into the movies, this was his way to do whatever he wanted. And it's not quite as crazy as the stuff he was doing before, but it's pretty cool man. Apparently he didn't like the choreography that was suggested for him so he said he was just going to do his own and that's exactly what he did, laugh.
