Nikki did amazing! You can see the progress in just ONE ride. This is her very first time and she listened very well. The ride back shows massive improvement. We chose this rode because its a simple, easy, and curved road to practice countersteering. I did get scared, but I was doing the same thing when I first started!

So incredibly calm and patient, dude. I truly admire that. From the things I've seen in life I get far more paranoid... And that converts to me being sharp with loved ones in 'danger zones'. She's come a long ways in a short period of time. Your are right about more saddle time. Nothing can replace experience in varied conditions. Learning to ride in sections that have gravel, sand, and wet surfaces will prove to be invaluable in the future. I was lucky learning to ride dirt first. Taught me body english, and how to control the bike while the rear tire is spinning, and sliding. With that experience you don't freak out when it suddenly happens. You instinctively respond correctly. Of course all the knowledge of how to ride is good, but useless in an emergency until it is practiced to the point it becomes second nature. Muscle memory. The one on one training with communication you are giving her while she rides is really great. We had nothing like that in the late 1960's when I learned to ride. It has been fun watching her progress. I think your encouraging style of teaching will go a long ways in making her a safe, and confident rider who enjoys the sport.

Great video! I had my first ride on the public roads a few weeks ago and watching this brought all the emotion back. I could totally relate to those sighs Nikki made after the first stop. lol Unfortunately for me, when heading home, I was feeling a little too confident and pushed myself on a low speed tight turn and laid my bike down. Sucked. Fortunately I was just a little banged up, but totally mobile. And my bike just scratched on the fairing and bars a bit, but otherwise still ran fine. I've been riding since without issues. Getting better day by day. That crashed actually helped me to stay aware of my skill level and caused me to realize my mistake so I don't make it at higher speeds. Anyway, I really enjoyed watching this video and reliving my first ride through Nikki. :-)

Her point of view with your feed back is next level useful, FYI. As a person who generally learns better by doing, there's almost a strange feeling like you're talking directly to me about my own riding -- its funny how things immediately make so much more sense with this kind of context. I've watched a lot of your videos and really appreciate them as a new rider. Thanks for the great work.

Being a newbie rider myself with only two shorter trips under the belt I know exactly how she felt (I think) during those turns where she almost crossed the lines. You can feel that you’re not turning enough, but at the same time you’re scared stiff about making any movements at that speed that will make the bike go upright and possibly leaning the wrong way. I guess the only thing you can do is build up confidence with practice. Corners are my worst fear and especially right corners for some reason🇸🇪

For body lean angle. She should slightly lean forward toward the grip she counters-steers with. Example-Making right turn, intentionally lean her head/upper body toward your right hand. That helps body position, and head angle in turns. And for cornering, outside-inside-outside method, which you can use the whole lane, or even use on lane position 2, edge of 1, to the edge of 3.

Also, I'm still nervous on going past 45 as it feels incredibly fast, which is scary. I've driven manual cars all my life but on a motorcycle is a whole another experience. I don't really care for fast bikes. Eventually I want to get a Grom, and a Rebel 1100.

I love these ones where you're teaching Nikki to ride, you are so patient with her. . My wife has ridden with me several times, but I do not think she would ever want to ride her own bike..... maybe someday, we'll see

Wow great video you two!...Skills we take for granted, for those who have been riding for a while, we can see how a new rider has to "learn" from the beginning. So good she has a good teacher to instruct her from the first moment on the road. Nikki will learn fast, so cool to watch the process! Dan Dan...you have the right attitude.

It's really good for me to see a new Rider. I'm not used to seeing that. And if I want to do this then I need to learn how to teach better. The goal is to be safe and to learn proper habits. I'm proud of her and thank you for the awesome comment

Awesome video... And helpful... Just got my first bike and I’m pretty nervous and shaky... She is ahead of me in ability at this point, but watching her ride while you coach is really helpful... Can’t wait to get out there some more and get some miles behind me...

Nice video, you guys have great empty roads. Come to England and it’s traffic everywhere. Only rode twice so far so good to see everyone needs saddle time to build confidence. 👍

My late husband always had me ride up front, he liked making sure I was riding properly and he could give me hints/tips. I think it made me a better rider. I’m glad to see you helping her like this as well.

This was perfect. From her point of view it showed a genuine reaction to how riding in traffic for the first time is terrifying. From your side absolutely perfect instructions. You're calm, give great advice and do everything for her like check traffic, remind her to put the stand down. Great video
