I like the flowers breaded and fried or made into fritters I think it tastes like a mix between fries and eggplant. I also eat the “harts” (where the leaves meet the root) are good blanched and pan fried with anchovies, a splash of red wine vinegar, citrus zest, a little lemon juice and a handful of chopped garlic that tastes like radicchio.

Please turn volume up on ur vids. Loved ur content. I love to forage also. U ever get down to Fl. , we can forage together! 1 tip, please pour the waste liquid onto your plants or into ur compst pile ( u DO have compost pile , right? )

Sounds good haven't been to Florida in a few years but it was lovely. Yes I compost and humanure, pretty self sufficient here which with the price of everything is nice.

Thanks. I'm going to give it a go. One question. After a month you drain it again. Do you take all the vinegar out and put the solids back in jar?
@offgridDAVID Жыл бұрын
Hi , thanks for watching . Yes you can strain it out, and eat the tops, they will be pickled perfectly and very nutritious.

I did this but when was time to open there was a film like substance is this okay?

I always use the analogy " when in doubt throw it out"! Bubbles can form on the top but it might not be worth the risk.

My dandelion vinegar has mold on top- is it ruined or can I scoop it off and save the vinegar?
@offgridDAVID Жыл бұрын
I'd trash it, the risk isn't worth the reward .

Do you have to use APPLE CIDER VINEGAR? Could I use white vinegar, or brown pickling vinegar? I will make this tomorrow.
@offgridDAVID2 жыл бұрын
Hi , you don't t have to use apple cider vinegar its just a preference of mine. Regular vinegar is fine also. What a good healthy snack enjoy

I'll definitely make this today I have about 100 dandelions in my front garden. Just picked a big batch of dandelion flowers. I let them thrive in my veg garden now as they are great for bees after a long winter, and so versatile for food.
