Me too but I stayed angry. Seriously, I don't know how Victoria keeps her cool. She always sees it and makes them pay somehow but it's short lived. As you can see at the end, mom and kids are the ones training the dog.

This unfortunately is quite common with husbands that work outside the house. I don't have dogs (I have cats) and I had the same issue with him not being helpful and supportive and consistent with cat training. Thus, I was constantly cleaning up the place because the kitten was crapping everywhere. The female cats started peeing on exclusively my items and displaying territorial behaviors towards me, which added stress to the both of us.

I feel the same. Honestly I would never tolerate a partner who behaved like the husband.

Also buying dogs from a store is often a red flag, because they are often traumatized by people that work there and do not know how to handle them.

Not always, but usually men in relationships purposefully poorly execute or all together avoid doing for instance household tasks so that when the woman in the relationship gets tired of redoing the poorly done task or asking the man to pick up his slack, she does it for him. It can also extend to lack of effort in relationships themselves. The woman might care about doing things for their partner and takes the time and effort to ask, plan and do them while the man usually thinks it's the "woman's" duty to do "such things" and rarely, if ever, thinks his partner is worth his effort. It has recently been a frequently used term on social media, especially on TikTok.

I never did that crap with either of my late husbands & they didn't do it with me, because we realized life is too short for that kind of crap. Being a team & on the same page is very fulfilling & meaningful. I loved being married to my husbands . They were very good men & I will always miss them. A working Marriage between two people, is work & requires effort . It's not 50/50. If it was, that would mean you're going Into a union with only half . The problem is they haven't set any rules or training in place for children or dog. Dog is just a permanent puppy as he knows no different. The actions of children are encouraging the behaviour. Mostly common sense isn't being used

Absolutely. I have big dogs and horses - it's crucial that I taught my kids how to be around both. These animals are a lot of fun, but they are inherently dangerous.

As a dog trainer, I had to tell someone's kids "stop pulling their tail. It's uncomfortable and he needs to focus".. the parent did NOTHING

There's practically no difference between training a puppy and a toddler. *Nanny Most ppl who can afford me have had their poorly trained "fur babies" for yrs before baby and I entered the picture. Poorly trained animals are dangerous around babies, so I've taken to training the animals who need it just to safeguard baby. What else can you do? LOL

It's important for children to learn how to handle an animal. Especially if that animal has shown aggression like biting.

There is nothing strange or funny about it. Dog training is 95% training the human, 5% training the dog!!! Any pet owner should realize this, BEFORE having a pet. Also, while educating the son with the stop light game, she 100% also educated the parents, which is even more important. But she didn't do that in their face as she also knows when she educated the son in this playful manner, the parents would be far more open minded and pick these things up, instead of when she would do that right in their face. Because if the latter, adults often close up, go into defensive mode, go in denial, etc... This is simple human psychology 101... And rest assure, that was very much her intention! She damn knows what she is doing. Also, there are NO untrainable dogs!!!! I even dare to say: there are VERY RARELY 'dangerous dogs', if any at all. It is all about the human/handler! Also also, labradors are highly trainable and family friendly dogs (even the ones with ADHD). But yeah, you need to put in the work. But, in the end, the family is going to be very much ok, I'm sure. And a lovely caring home for the dog.... *IF* they keep this up (which I often miss in programs like this, although in this case they showed us how it was a few weeks later, but I'd really be interested to know how it is like a year from now, especially when dealing with a puppy).

Based on the husbands response to the dog being diagnosed with hyperactivity, I would imagine he put up a front and stop that potential diagnosis. My dad was similar. None of us were diagnosed as kids, and with my brother the school pushed for testing recommendations SEVERAL times. Two of us are ADHD, brother and I are also autistic. My dad likely was autistic as well, not that he would have every seen a psych for testing. It was hard enough to get him to agree to go to a medical dr. My dad was just about as involved and ineffective as this guy was from the start. It was like pulling teeth to get him to interact with us, even as adults. I don’t know if the kid really is, or if it’s a by product of the household dynamics.

Also that is a field bred labrador. Insane amount of energy. A different world compared to the shownline lab (that is usually used as guide dogs)

In my experience Labs are high energy just like German Shepards. I have an older Golden Retriever/ Lab mix and as a younger dog he was extremely high energy trained for bird retrieval and he loved his job at home he was mellow because he spent hours running every day

Actually I think this incredible woman has two beautiful sons and a husband who shows willingness and is open to change and has illustrated this clearly. Many people are unwilling to reflect on themselves and improve so kudos to this family.

@jean6453 I 'm not a geneticist, but yes. Both my probably pure bred border collies died of cancer. My labxspringer developed mast cell cancer,which is genetically linked to both breeds and all 3 of my poodles developed problems genetically linked to poodles. Only my little Turkish Street dog,who must be well over 10 Only sees the vet once a year.

It's a field bred Labrador. From hunting lines. Living in a chaotic household and no job to do is a disaster. Poor dog!

Good kids can show their emotions too.

Temper tantrums are normal for children. They don't know how to regulate their intense emotions so they got to let it out somehow, yelling and screaming is the only way they would be able to let it out If they weren't taught any other way. It's all about teaching them how to regulate this emotions and how they can cope when they have big intense feelings like anger.

The kid was testing his dad 🤨 It was a new dynamic & the kid instinctively tested dad's boundaries. They will give their impulses free reign & not curb them like they do with their mom or teachers 😮‍💨

The eldest was exceptionally intelligent, both intellectually and emotionally, in addition to being hyper-perceptive. I hope they have him tested.

A lot of people are still being raised in an antiquated way of thinking about disability and it's important to see this to gain a deeper understanding of how it happens and how we can fully move past it in the future. I had to live with relatives like this for a while who, funnily enough, also kept several dogs in cages for most of the day, had zero control over their behavior, and claimed to be too tired every day to train them. I had to move out when their behavior towards me over my disability became hostile. I don't know what became of the dogs.

Remember it's a "sound bite" and may not represent his more human, complex, and family man feelings.

I think this is incredibly harsh and an immature opinion. He improved significantly after Victoria took the wife out for the day and he had to deal with the sons and dog. He acknowledged this and his shortcomings which takes courage and love. I think they are a great family.

I couldn’t agree with you more😔I’m a first time dog owner, I stay consistent… If need be I’d definitely reach out for help!! So fare so good he’s a 7 month Cane Corso he follows commands. I upload videos and started a KZfaq channel sharing and receiving dog info☺️I feel if we know better hopefully we can do better

Parents shouldn't let a child hurt a dog either. It tends to go hand in hand yet somehow the dog always ends up with the consequences. It's really sad.

^ some dogs are aggressive and attack for no reason or jealousy. Kids come first, period. Yes,teach kids to be nice and respectful to pets but dont just let your dog keep biting your child and thinking its no big deal wth.

Dogs can deal with always and never. Making exceptions confuses them.

@@jharris3267 LOL my super hyper active Cocker Spaniel loved all kids, calmed down by about 2 years old mostly, and wouldn't grab a kid like that. Maybe put his paws on him to be petted only. Same with my 3 months old puppy now. But it is all due to him using up most of his energy on me. That father of course should have been the one to walk him after work. I did. Pre and after. This puppy forces me to really walk way more than I want to at 50 years old, but it's awesome. And after that he's too tired to cause trouble as much.

I agree! Dogs can be taught to focus, just like they can learn any other behavior. If a dog has never been taught to focus, it's not fair of him to expect that he will. 100% a spoiled demanding puppy, agreed!

There should be an easier way to learn about training dogs. And these videos are a good example of that. I have learned so much from watching Victoria train these dogs and the owners to be better. not everybody is able to afford a full-blown dog trainer. So videos like this are really nice.

People are supposed to how to tor a dog care before they get the dog. Tons of free training guides on the internet. This is why people shouldn't get a pet on a whim.

I agree up to a point, but quite often the reality isn't as easy as it looks in many videos or dog training books. I've had many customers who've tried to prepare well, read loads, even owned and somehow managed to train their previous dogs, until they get one that just doesn't work the way dogs are supposed to. So I'd say that people who are not willing to put the effort into training their dogs, including getting help if it's needed, should not get a dog.

@@durabelle Extremely well said! I know a lot of people too who knew they needed to train the dog... but simply couldn't, no matter how well-intentioned they were. It is a skill, which not everybody has. (btw: EXACT same thing can be said about having kids, but that's another topic I guess)

Puppy's learn to not bite from their mother who'll really get after the puppies when they bite too hard to often .. you can tell they took these puppies away from mom way to early

I'm all for R+ training, and minimal R- / punishment. But! Sometimes something is necessary to _prevent_ the behaviour, as it can harm both the dog and the human, so yeah. A leash keeps the dog from jumping, and then when he relaxes you can reward. Same with a muzzle, it prevents biting. Like during social training. If the dog got loose and ran to the other dog walking by, it's good to have. You can still praise and reward while using restraints like a leash. Just don't pull harshly, as it can genuinely cause long-term harm.

And you can't always give treats as labs put weight on easily

@@CookieTube This is exactly why as much as I wanted to I never did get into dog training, I signed up to teach dogs not be a personal therapist for the owner's shortcomings and inability to be humble.

@@rustyhowe3907 yeah, that's exactly what is holding me back too. Luckily there is a local dog training school here (basic behavior and social training in small groups), and as a volunteer you get to interact with the dogs. Also shelters are a very good alternative too. You can do wonders there. But as for the "personal trainer" job, yeah, it's more therapy for the owner than anything else.

@@CookieTube Absolutely! I've done some volunteer work at shelters, nothing more than basic commands to help the dogs find a home. It's long and it's a challenge but it's as rewarding as it is sad to find that IF ONLY someone had bothered to train the dog I was working with in that moment wouldn't have been ditched at the shelter as "untrainable", never met a dog that was impossible as of the current moment.

As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD I was honestly offended when he described it as having a “screw loose.” I struggle to function on a day to day basis and I’ve at times gotten so frustrated with being unable to focus that I can’t help but wanna scream my lungs out. @@Nibs08 It really is heart-breaking that so many pet stores are still selling puppies from puppy mills or backyard breeders, isn't it. Getting all their papers and being able to actually talk to the breeder is what people need to think of when they walk in a store and see that cute puppy's face. I have an 8 month old pup from a pet store but I must've asked over a hundred questions and made sure I had her papers before deciding to bring her home. She's my best friend and a literal dream come true.

Actually within a short timeframe of Victoria's visit, they both actioned her directives and showed that they genuinely cared for the dog.

More like classic laziness and ignorance regarding dogs in general. Thankfully, pet owners like this are rare🙄. If only....

As someone with ADHD having gotten over the self esteem issues long ago, I laughed pretty hard at that one. He ain´t wrong but that´s what makes life spicy, no?

Dealing with a pet mill puppy versus a garden variety are very different scenarios. Buying him was an impulse buy which we are all guilty of at some point and he has taken responsibility for it which is more than I can say for most people.
