DANGEROUS Theme Park in Japan RESTRICTED 🚫 by the Government!? | Meet Japan’s Takakonuma Greenland!

What’s going on guys and welcome back to the channel! So this morning I rolled out of bed and looked out my window, and a huge layer of fog sat over the ocean and my house. Similarly, I remembered that a follower of mine had mentioned I cover a park known as Takakonuma Greenland that is widely known by many to be haunted and more often than not covered in, well fog. So that’s where my inspiration for this video came from. But that fog wasn’t the only thing creepy about this place. There were a series of events and deaths that took place here, that were bad enough that even the Japanese government attempted to remove all media of it online, and the existing location of it was removed and replaced with essentially a fake one. In fact, the government claimed they demolished it, but photos released in 2014 disproved that. That plus the 2 coasters that operated here, make it one of the urban exploration and roller coaster community’s most mysterious and unknown places of all time, and I’m here to uncover it and its coasters. So without further adieu, I present the story of an amusement park and its roller coasters that were hidden from the world, but still stand today in secret, clinging on to a sad and haunted past. This is the story, of Takakonuma Greenland. 😎🎢

It appears that the park no longer exists, as the RCDB map link brings me to the current site of a solar farm. For confirmation, I've searched throughout the Japanese-speaking web and found an aerial photo taken between 1974 and 1978, and the geography closely matches the location provided by RCDB. In addition, the solar panels were installed sometime prior to 2018. EDIT: The parks jet coaster seems more likely to have been built by Hoei Sangyo, rather than by Meisho, judging by the track design.

i remember finding official coordinates (37°48'18.64"N 140°31'2.86"E) a while ago that landed me on a hill that now has a bunch of solar panels on it, and on google earth going back to 2010 before the solar panels were there i see some imprints of what looks to have been something that could've been an amusement park

It has been demolished, as much as I was in denial for years. The location provided by RCDB is accurate, with the field of solar pannels matching the ariel shape of the park from an older image I've seen from when the park was in operation. The entry midway is still visible within the field. That said it is true that the government lied about the park being demolished in 2006 and anyone saying it was demolished by then is full of it. Sweedish urban explorer Jens Eriksson visited the park in November of 2006, his pictures show an untouched park with no signs of incoming demolition. Online creepypastas created the fictional character of Bill Edwards as a stand in for Jens Eriksson because Eriksson is active online and in knowing the precise location has comfirmed it has been demolished, even if the claims in 2006 were bs at the time. That and it's not unknown who took the photos that circulate online, most of them that don't come from the 2 guys you see credited in the white letters on screen are screenshots from the urban explorer who filmed an actual video of the ruins (the same one you see doing the lift hill walk on Jet Coaster in this video). The individual who posted that is still active online and has comfirmed the video was filmed in 2005 and the park has since been demolished.

Imagine if Shirakaba Resort decided to use this history as the theme to a haunt on their Bobster. After all, they do have Takakonuma Greenland's Bobster in storage, having purchased it as a parts donour due to Togo's bankrupsy. Those are the only 2 Bobsters left in existance.

@medea27
@medea27 2 жыл бұрын
I suspect the local govt 'cover up' wasn't as sinister as people might think. Your reputation & saving face mean a lot in Japanese society... I wouldn't be surprised if the attempts to obscure the park's location was a combination of _embarrassment_ (for being known as the location/prefecture with a park suffering so many deaths) and to _prevent more urban explorers_ going there (partially to stop more publicity & partially to stop more people getting hurt on-site). I'm also not surprised at the lack of photos/videos online because back in the late 90's/early 00's, neither urban exploration nor posting photos/videos online was a big thing. You're talking message boards & blogs (Facebook & KZfaq started around '05 & weren't really popular until years later) so if this explorer visited in 2007 & then 'vanished' online it wouldn't be that big a deal. And if the park shut down 5-10 years before he got there (so sometime after '97), there would have been few photos online because digital photography wasn't common place until the mid- to late-00's & even then, it was a groundbreaking 2-5 megapixels in quality! LOL And if the site/blog you were posting your photos to stopped being maintained & was taken down, all the content vanished with it. So the reality is there wasn't much for the local govt to 'cover up'... if the park was on private land & the govt couldn't force it's demolition, then changing it's co-ordinates online would be the next best thing. Really interesting though! 👍

For starters, both coasters were added during or after the park's 1985 reopening. The TOGO Bobster follows the same layout as all other installations of it's type, this one is however, the only example with (or at least appears to be) Schwartzkopf trains. The other coaster appears to be a custom Hoei Sangyo jet coaster, that runs alongside the hill.

That's really helpful as I'd like to recreate them in Planet Coaster if at all possible. I'll look up the TOGO to figure it out, but I can't find a picture of the full layout of the Jet Coaster if anyone can help.

@@andrewking2193The layout to the Jet Coaster is easy to figure out. A partial POV does exist and it's included here, I also uploaded it recently. The Bobster was removed by Shirakaba Resort in 2006 so they would have a parts donour, it's still in storage there today.

It seems a lot of people are saying that, which I desperately want to not be true. But at the end of the day I've discovered some real abandoned amusement park stories on par with Bill Edwards, with me, Willette Athena, playing the role of Edwards (minus the dissapearing)! Notably, Joyland in Wichita, Kansas was supposedly demolished in 2016. There are even videos online of the park being demolished. But when I went in February, I found the Nightmare coaster designed by Herbert Schmeck to be still standing. At least, what wasn't destroyed by the tornado that proceeded the supposed demolition is still standing. My discovery of that reminded me of the story of Bill Edwards discovering Takakonuma Greenland still standing years after it was supposedly demolished (comparing Google street view to pictures of Takakonuma Greenland, it was demolished by 2013 (having been in denial until a few months ago), the oldest view I can get of the site, but I do believe Mr Edwards really stumbled accross an intact park sometime before 2013 and releasing the pictures in 2014. Doesn't matter a ton, doesn't matter if he was even real, because I'm real and I've lived out his story at this point)
@urbex_coasters

Sadly that deems most likely. Although it is possible it's the second attempt to hide it. I would find (37.8079456, 140.5373923) to be the believable location of the park. Google does have a ghost icon of the park that may date back to google's origins for the park where the solar farm is, the location I provided is a possible alternative. What could be coaster track is visible from google maps.
