In a major step towards boosting Nigeria’s domestic refining capacity and attaining energy security (self-sufficiency), Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals plant has purchased 1 million barrels of Agbami crude grade from Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (STASCO), one of the largest trading companies in Nigeria as well as globally, trading over 8 million barrels of crude oil per day.
The STASCO cargo contained 1 million barrels from Agbami and sailed to Dangote Refinery’s Single Point Mooring (SPM) where it was discharged into the refinery’s crude oil tanks.
The maiden 1 million barrels, which represent the first phase of the 6 million barrels of crude oil to be supplied to Dangote Petroleum Refinery by a range of suppliers, should sustain the initial 350,000 barrels per day to be processed by the facility. The next four cargoes will be supplied by the NNPC in two to three weeks and the final of the six cargoes will be supplied by ExxonMobil.

@@TabsT-vy5jy its not all doom...The attention & hype around this Dangote refinery is very high and both the government & common man would ask questions, if they decide to squeeze life out of us. Not every Nigerian can afford to build a house and buy cement in the process, but every Nigerian home uses gasoline on a daily, either via automobile or I-Pass_My_Neighbor generator. That is why even the big oil companies, both local & foreign in Nigeria are alway under pressure, when fuel prices increases or becomes scarce...No such pressure occurs in cement.

@@sterlingferguson1704 that thief, Emefiele informed us in March 2023, during the inauguration of the refinery, that Dangote has paid back about 70% of the loan used to build the refinery, so the pressure would not be too high. Also, crude is being supplied by local oil fields and it would be paid for in Naira, so no need to worry. The main challenge now is that of supplies. Nigeria currently has the capacity to produce between 1.2m-1.4 m barrels per day and Dangote alone requires over 50% of that capacity. Meanwhile, NNPCL has contractual agreements to supply other refineries abroad, Nigerian crude, which places a huge burden on our local capacity to meet demands, including those modular refineries in the country, who barely get crude locally to refine.

The difference the docking cost (cost of shipping) of refined petrol which is less than 10 cents a barrel. Did his price of cement is no different. Unfortunately this is not all good news for the average Nigerians because the price of petrol and diesel will continue to soar. This is a win win for the elite and selected few what can I say. Dangote cement is the MOST expensive. Therefore, Dangote oil/fuel would be the MOST expensive. Instead of fixing the refineries in the South South, they donated $billions to Dangote to build unnecessary refinery in Lagos.

Good news! But will this good news reflect on fuel pump price. Hope it won't be another most expensive product like Dangote Cement. I hope government can implement price control to make life better for the masses. This project is another opportunity to reduce unemployment in Nigeria.

Only thing that will reduce prices is the government owned refineries all being online. Port harcourt, warri and kaduna need to be fully working and at 100%. Dangote refinery is a private company. They will first and foremost be selling their product overseas to uk, america, europe or asia. These guys here are getting carried away.

See make I tell una Nothing will change how can one person have the monopoly to see cement and now petroleum, and still petro and cement is still very high for ordinary Nigerians like me, the only thing will change the prices is competition, all the refineries needs to get work again and you will see fuel price going down, for all of us

@@apachekafka773I doubt if the project is still on the line. Its like there has been a rethink on the proposal n its has been aborted. Nothing has been said on that proposal for some years now. N d naira devaluation n other internal force will deterred from doing ahead with d project. The project is no longer feasible.
