The fact that Daniel warned his wife, while Alex didn’t, was a good way to show us, how different they are. Even in the beginning Alex was selfish for not telling grace about the game just because he was scared of loosing her.

It would have I think. Cause their souls got taken because they lost the game. He technically didn't lost because he was killed before the game was over. In a world where the devil is real it would speak to God also being real so there would have to be some sort of redemption for his soul

Sadly Daniel's soul has already been claimed by Le Bail. Beginning of the movie Daniel even acknowledges this. No amount of good deeds "refunds" your soul afterwards.

not really I’d say like 8-10 minutes but a huge chunk of dialogue for each scene is cut out for copyright

That’s what really ruined the movie for me. The twist revealing that the husband was the bad guy the whole time felt so forced and cliche. It almost feels like it was thrown it at the very last minute

@@LoftyXsWaGX34 Why does everyone keep saying that he thought that Grace killed his brother? At no point is that ever implied in the film. He never accuses her of killing his brother nor does he ever ask her if she did. The only time he mentions his brother is when he says “Daniel’s dead”

Unlike Daniel, he didnt give his to be wife, Grace a choice and didn't inform her about his family's truth until they were forced to play the hide and seek game. He chose to put her, his love, into danger just because he didnt wanna tell her the truth and "lose her". She wanted to get married so she would hv probably left him is his excuse as to why he put her life in danger. He'd rather risk her life and be with him instead of leave him but live. Oh what a true hero he was! The only reason why he turned on her and went back to his family was because he realised that after this incident, she wont be with him. So she is of no use to him and he may as well kill her. So yeah the hints are in the nuances. Daniel originally comes of as terrible but u realise his true intentions later. Alex is the vice versa here

@@prithagore4870 True that he didn’t tell Grace ahead of time that her life would possibly be in danger if she married him. But I don’t think that was immediately a hint that he was going to be the villain. It simply made him come off as a guy that didn’t think all of this through. Also, there’s one thing that most people haven’t brought up. Grace never actually said that she wouldn’t be with him anymore once they’re reunited at the end of the film. He asks her, “You won’t be with me after this will you?” And then just immediately grabbed Grace before she even had the chance to respond. Even then, they don’t really explore this side of Alex’s character because the reveal happens so late in the film. It happens less than 6 minutes before the end credits roll. Honestly, the twist of Alex being the villain feels like a “leftover” from a previous version of the film if that makes sense. I’m wondering if there was an earlier draft of the script where the twist of him being the villain was revealed much earlier in the film, and had much bigger role the story, and then they just kept delaying the reveal more and more during rewrites

I remember watching this movie where a girl told her boyfriend "I'm done with you" and same like this story I guess they had to sacrifice her. She said that and the boyfriend died. We don't know for sure who's right or wrong here we're just giving each other's point of view😂I respect that...but meh the director wanted the story this way so...butter sauce😌

Agreed! I wish there was some way he could've lived. But after being shot in the neck, there was just no ending that could've brought him back without being too ridiculous and straying from the tone of the film. It's just good they didn't go with the original ending. Grace was originally gonna die, making Daniel's sacrifice utterly pointless. Least Grace managing to survive means an innocent was spared that fucked up family, and he did play a part in "burning it all down."

They don't need a human sacrifice. The new spouses only get killed if they pull the card for hide and seek.

I don't think he thought she killed Daniel. When they meet in the kitchen, he tells her "Daniel's dead." I don't think he'd tell her if he thought she was responsible -because she'd already know. Plus, far as Alex knew, Daniel was trying to help them even telling him they'd get her out before the father KO'd him. So knowing Daniel would try his best to protect her, he knows Grace would trust him because he's always watched out for them. I think his turn happened because if he'd continued to help Grace, he'd have nothing. He already lost the one person in his family he truly loved, which was Daniel. On top of that, Grace not being willing to stay with him means he'd basically be fighting to lose her too. So he cut his losses & sided with the remainder of his family so he'd at least have something left.
