Oh Mercy and Time out of Mind are still among my favorite albums. Also saw Lanois at an outside show at Festival d’été in Quebec city. Great evening it was.

...this conversation is a balm for the human soul if things get fraught emtionally. It is calming yet inspiring. i always feel grounded after listening. Reset. Tom Power is genuine, capable, and very much informed. Daniel Lanois is obviously a musical genius, bridging the analog and digital eras. His production credits are astounding -- but personally, his own releases - individually and with his various ensembles - are some of the deepest works from any artist of any time. His music will endure and thrive. Thanks to the Q staff and the CBC. This is an important document, and one of the better interviews with Daniel available.

Always great to have some of the history and personalities of the music world find some level of preservation...so many thousands of songs, groups and individuals just in my lifetime of listening, much less all of the past!

Reading Daniels book now and loving it. I think back to some of my favorite albums and yes, Daniel Lanois just happens to be on most of them. Learning a lot from his book and highly recommend it and so grateful that he takes the time to do these interviews and share his wisdom. Thank you DL and Tom for this interview.

Don’t get your hopes up. Ever since Time Out of Mind, Dylan has produced all of his own albums. He was said to have disliked the heavy vocal manipulation Lanois used on the album.
