Someone who you think has a reasonably-sized shelf (to limit time) but also has the right elements, but the wrong aesthetic. It could be a cool way to see you interact with one of your followers. Omg I screamed when my shelves were featured - thanks Daniel!!! I should’ve clarified that that light is my dining room table light, which is where I also work from (it’s a small place, it’s my desk and table lol) I moved it out of the way to take the picture. But I love the light, it gives off the perfect vibe lighting! (And my shelves are my backdrop for all my work calls, it’s very good)

Sigh, I'd really love to send my shelves in to be roasted/critiqued. But I have avoided joining up to Twitter all this time and a shelf roast isn't incentive enough to take that particular dive. I'll just have to watch others get theirs looked at.

I was all excited when the gnome fantasy book was suggested, then I went and watched the review. I have a shelf dedicated to gnome fiction (mostly for children) so now have to buy and read it even though I have terrible expectations. Thanks a lot.

As the sister of a Librarian I have questioned best way to store books. Upright or on their side is the best way for the longevity of books. On the point of laying them with the spine up it can damage the whole book. I don't send mine in because most of mine is on a Kindle. And yes I have over a thousand books on my Kindles.

Funny thing - I was just thinking about this series last week. Saw a great set of shelves at a coffee shop, and I want to make use of it as home decor once I move out of an apartment. The shelves were free-standing but created pseudo walls in the open floor plan. I liked it.

I side stack my books because I can fit more books on my shelf that way. And something about putting paperbacks on end feels wrong to me

You have a delightfully chaotic vibe when you do these and I'm here for it. Also, wanted to tell you.... You. You have made me reread Wheel of Time. Which is a good thing, because the first time I read it? I did it completely out of order. Whenever a hold came through at the library, I just grabbed it and read it, bounced all over the series. I love seeing other people's shelves. Mine are a mess. And when you brought in the reading nook...I miss a house I used to own: I had an amazing space in that house which served as a reading nook. The current house is too small for a reading nook. On the other hand, the living room and bedroom have both become reading nooks, so that's good! But I do have too many books for current shelving...

i might be biased because i have an entire wall of tall white shelves, but i honestly love white shelves so much. they work with most decorations and make colourful books pop. i think black/wood shelves can look amazing too but sometimes they crowd the books or clash with the colours. then again, i do have light purple walls and many colourful books so i do see how for others with white walls and white books, it might look bland or not distinct enough. i like em though :-)

Only thing I have to say is on the "DnD manuals don't go on a bookshelf". One, not everyone has room for multiple shelves, so saving space by combining stuff together is nice. Two, some people don't actually separate the different entertainments in their head. It's all just "entertainment", so it goes on an "entertainment" shelf. My shelf consists of books, video games, and movies.

This is making me want to finally clean up my shelf just for validation and/or roasting

Funko Pops are like having all your favorite characters in one format. You know that giddiness you felt when they first brought the Avengers together after watching their own movies, and then the collaboration of all the Marvel heroes on one screen on End Game, collecting Funko's is like that.

I bought Roadside Picnic by the Strugatsky Brothers, a Crown of Shadows by CS Friedman, and The Infernal City by Greg Keyes. Also one of the Barnes And Nobles around me is closing down after 20 years. :(

3:15 is me. I actually have a number of other shelves and plan to get more for things like plays, mystery novels, manga, and other specific franchises. Also I hope you realize you saying my shelf doesn’t have enough books to be a bookshelf is something I’ll take as a challenge, it gives me an excuse to buy more books. I finally submitted my bookcases but I was 10 hours late so I'm not surprised Daniel didn't get to them. The pictures were already from December and I've bought a new bookcase since then so now I have to figure out if I want to update the photos. The old pictures had way more books piling up on the ground but the new bookcase is ordered on top at random for books I've finished this year, in the middle by what books I'm reading each month for the rest of the year and the bottom two shelves are just books that had been on the floor just shoved sidewise into the space because my motivation to do anything including organizing books has been trash. I feel like both new and old options have the potential to enrage Daniel

I understand keeping the D&D books on the board game shelf, but counterpoint: I don't *have* a board game shelf. At least not a dedicated one. So as a result, my tabletop stuff lives on one shelf in my bookcase.
